London 1930s in color, Pre-War [60fps, Remastered] w/sound design added

- I colorized, restored and created a sound design for this video of London 1930s, we start with Westminster Bridge, we can see the transport link and the movement of vehicles and pedestrians. Horse-drawn carriages and early motor vehicles frequently crossed the bridge, as did buses, which were mainly double-decker and featured an emblematic open roof.
Video Restoration Process:
✔ FPS boosted to 60 frames per second
✔ Image resolution boosted up to HD
✔ Improved video sharpness and brightness
✔ Colorized only for the ambiance (not historically accurate)
✔added sound only for the ambiance
✔restoration:(stabilisation,denoise,cleand,deblur)
Please, be aware that colorization colors are not real and fake, colorization was made only for the ambiance and do not represent real historical data.

the aspect ratio still looks off.
where????@@bikedawg
the opening scene is in 16:9, the second scene is in 4:3.@@bikedawg
@@NASS_0 -- oh, i stopped playing a few minutes after the opening because i find it hard to watch anything that has a distorted aspect ratio. BTW, great job on restorations on your videos!
I was amused by the man riding his bike staying ahead and almost leading the parade of traffic.
Seeing London before the blitz and destruction is fascinating.
Yes - and wearing a suit, with trousers held at the bottom by bicycle clips!! 😘
The destruction of so many characterful old buildings was far greater after the war. Many people don’t realise this.
Nass, Love your videos. You always do a fabulous job with them. They bring us back to the past. Thank you!
Thank you
That traffic was pretty chaotic. Just about anyone or anything darted out. They were all going relatively slow...but still. 😂😊
I like to see the company names on trucks and signs and then Google them to see if they're still around or what their history is.
Haha I just did that with Albion Sugar! I'm glad it's not just me.
Sammeee - I do that with this video and urban explorer videos. It's so fascinating!
Check the number plates with dvla many cars are still around and being used !!!!
Me too.
I keep coming back to these for a reason
What would the people in this footage make of their city today? The mind boggles! Change does not necessarily mean progress.
These are but shadows of the things that have been...(C)
👍👍👍
Amazing! My mother and father were schoolchildren in London in the 1930s, so incredible to see the sights they saw.
2:57 Shiver down the spine - that's under Waterloo viaduct, and still the same geography and light and shade transition experience today
The place is ugly today. The Briton has been sold out, lock stock and barrel.
I remember London scenes like this in the 1940’s and travelled on all the buses and trams of the period. Great to see this today.
How old are you?
@@oosthakker late eighties.
@@derekantill3721 good that you learned how to work on the internet
wow, I'm jealous, lol. Videos like this make me wish I could have been there. And also that I wish I had asked my grandmother and mother more questions about their childhoods.
I don't suppose you remember a company called Tuff and Hoar do you?! They were a haulage company in Woolwich and I am currently restoring one of their old lorries. @@derekantill3721
I love these old film clips. The old cars and trucks are great.
How I wish author Jack Finney (“Time and Again”, “The Third Level”) had been able to see these beautifully restored windows into another era. I can think of no one who would be more mesmerized by the snippets of a by gone age where one feels as though they could just step into it.
London. The largest city in the world, at the time of this filming.
Just another world, much more beautiful London then.
It’s amazing to see Waterloo as it was!
Hey look at that, products that were once made and owned by Britain, cars clothes buses, not everything from China.
se ven mejor los videos contra mas antiguos ... BUEN TRABAJO !
What happened guys 😢
Some rich people decided there were too many of us and they did everything to bring the birth rate down but recently they realised that the current birth rate isn't even enough to replace the local population and that was bad for economy so the let anyone through open borders.
@@thewanderingartists good accurate answer. The KALERGI PLAN is to blame
Great video nass amazing footage, beautiful work,I liked the beginning a lot,the tram follows the camera 😀👍👌
Guy on the bike got a good work out!
Little did all those people realize just how dramatically and tragically their lives would soon change, for them and the wider world. It's perhaps a good thing we can't see into the future, otherwise we might not cope with the present.
7:12 Alfred Hichcock? XD
Amazing insight. Shame we can't go back to those times. I think I prefer the non-culturally enriched version of London.
NASS! Thank you for posting.
Thank you bro
The old bearded man with the pipe was a little spooky 😮
Its amazing!
A farcry from the stabbings and moped thieves of today
There was PLENTY of crime back then.
Your point being?
@@michaeldavies6756crimes were there but it wasn't as rampant as it has become these days, standings, honor killings, grooming of young girls or straight up kidnapping on daily basis.
Daily fail reader 😉
@michaeldavies6756 yeah but I'm guessing it wasn't has bad as it is today
GREAT VIDEO SUPER NASS BIG SUPPORT FROM CROATIA
Thank you bro
Great work, thank you. When it travels under the 1880s train bridge near Lower Marsh it passes the Red Lion on the corner, this particular Red lion was built in 1939 as far as I’m aware, which would make this 40s.
But the hat’s seem to be 30s ish
Thx ;))
No sand bags etc
I'd like to be a time traveller tourist and see whether, it was better in those days compared to, today. Of course, it's wise not to affect the time events in any way, but blend into the background inconspicuously. Learn from the experience. It be fascinating!
I was thinking the same sights, sounds, smells how people talked to one another. Visit a pub a restaurant bus, tube ride then pop back to the present well maybe.
The aspect ratio is wrong. The slightly anamorphic image Needs decompressing
Brilliantl film thank you for posting it
Really interesting seeing the journey over Westminster Bridge. I was born in St Thomas' Hospital opposite the Houses of Parliament in the 90s, and I grew up nearby. As the hospital and a lot of the area around was bombed in WWII, or turned into the roundabout, or absorbed into Waterloo Station for Eurostar, it's really interesting to see what the area used to look like (it looked better before!). There's not many photos or footage of this area from this period i feel, probably because it was a bit of a backwater until late 20th Century. In the footage it looks like a normal street lined with shops, but looks like an urban wreck in the 21st century!
Before we were culturaly enriched
Diversity is our stench

Great videos super king NASS gretings from historyman from Croatia
Exquisite work ❤❤
Oh Nass your restoration films are the best of all....It's something only you seem to do but I can't put my finger on it...maybe the speed etc..but your films look almost three dimensional. LOVE your channel...
Everything was louder and bigger back then. Alot better than today
The video is elongated
The things you can’t say
@ slob, back when England had its culture, traditions, heritage, and National identity, not allowed that now though
Didn’t you already upload this the other day? I seem to remember commenting on it.
i have corrected aspect ratio ;)
👍
They didn’t know yet the other big war will come soon… Will the wars ever stop?.. Peace to the world 🌎🕊️☀️
Our driving complaints of cyclists all over the road seems quite frivolous compared to those pre WW2 years... 😉
Because the roads used to belong to civilians and bikes. Motorized vehicles were relatively new
Timeless🎉
Wouldn’t have wanted to be a cyclist facing an oncoming tram on my near side while massive trucks were passing on my offside.
Beautiful Video 👍👍👍👌
ty!!
I'm like why theres no pedestrian light crossing on intersection but then i remember back then car wasn't fast eneugh to kill people
they had ahole cyclists blocking the road back then as well it winds me up cycle on the side of the road so cars can get past not right in the middle
Whato,
What a shame the image has been has been elongated making everything too thin.
Picture is a bit squashed horizontally
Incredible! A Khan-free London.
cyclists and pedestrians taking some crazy chances in that traffic
They couldn't have been going faster than 10mph. That's calm 😂
It literally is such a shame London is different now. Change wasn't good either. London like this, now, wow, imagine. We've regressed as humans. 100%
Very well done but some dodgy colours (which you acknowledge) and over-saturated in places.
The King of London
94 Years 😮
Driving in the first quarter of the 1900s was such a chaotic free for all :D
Before it became Londonistan
RIP
Strange how they got rid of the trams and in some places they are bringing them back.
London underground and motorised transport hit the finances of the tram service dramatically in the 1920-30s.
As usual a great video but you should give up on that auto horn , Its the same thing over and over in every video .. [Yes I clicked the thumbs up ]
I ❤ LONDON
Same now, apart from a lot more road markings, and fewer hats
Where is all the diversity the media insist has always been here?
Lies are excepted as truth to those that have submitted their minds over to the Govmint, to think for them 😮
Amazing video 💯❤
Ty
Great footage but London buses and trams were red with silver roofs before the war!
;))
It’s a thumbs up from me Nass
Before the municipality found a mountain of CASH in writing Traffic Violations.
Look Mummy, there were once white people in London!

Thx!!
Always good to see gammon tears in the comments section.
How was this recorded?
Definitely not a digital camera 😂
Why you delete my comment? 😢 Don't like constructive criticism? I just wrote that the video is not in color, you mainly see purple, I honestly don't see a work for color the video... I'm sorry you don't accept criticism. Good evening.
It's TH-cam who randomly deletes the comments, sometimes just writing the word b la CK gets my comment deleted 😂

When people had to pay attention to their driving and know how to shift gears and how to park.
Colours are very washed out, almost non-existent ! London trams and buses were red then y'know !
They wouldn’t have even bothered with fighting the nazis, if they could see it today.
Well said. One could even apply this to the other sides that were all involved however it wasn’t up to the people and unfortunately we still see it happening.
Fighting the Nazis? Are you for real. Churchill sent few natal lions almost at the end of the war. Like it or not the Soviets 50 millions lost their life. What do you think the Amazon,Stalin,Roosevelt and Churchill sit down together in Yalta to distribute the region. This is the real history, the rest what the CIA,the Mossad,M 16 are telling are lies. Do you know how mani night rank Nazis were brought to the United State,Latin America an Italy unde those government protection?
Whatever
It simply says "pre War" so challenging.
See what today?

Rip London, rip EU
It's still safe. Don't believe everything you hear in the news 😉
@@deanosaur808 oh yeah ? Next you're gonna say Sweden is safe too 😂😂
@@thewanderingartists I have nothing to say about Sweden 🤷
There are many problems in the UK, but let's not exaggerate
Little did they know that in less than 10 years Adolph Hitler would be kicking their asses and they would have to call on the United States to rescue them.
The guy on the push bike is a pain in the neck. Some things never change.
Yep. It’s the “I’ve got the right of way, so watch out for me” attitude. Still the same today.
what is a push bike ? There wasn’t a push bike in this video.
There was just a regular guy riding a regular bicycle…
……………………………. ……………………………. ……………………………. …………………………….
Edit: -.- ………… crickets
Edit2: timestamp ?
The bike wasn't holding up the traffic 🙄
How do you think the film was made? They were driving slow probably because a vehicle in front of them is filming 😉
The bike was probably doing no more than 8mph, yet the truck didn't attempt to overtake 🤷
I think a day will come when push bikes will not be allowed on roads for motorized vehicles like horses and carts are not allowed on our motorways.
London before ULEZ and
A lot of people usually say "I'd love to go back to those times" when they see these old videos, but with WW2 a decade or so away from this one, I'd rather be where I am right now I think. Great video as always, I love seeing everyday scenes of years gone by.
Believing you were going to fight in a war to preserve the British way of life, democracy and freedom. Knowing now that we don't enter wars for those reasons but to irreversibly alter what we care about and take in even more suspect aliens, I'm pretty sure I'd rather be there as an adult and be gone in plenty of time before the treacherous politicians came about. I know this is just a moving picture and all wasn't rosy, but look at the same scene in modern London. One is England and one is a raggedy third world cesspit. No clues which is which.
for all we know we are a decade from WW3, which seems more likely every day
Unfortunately that's very true.@@davidrenton
It's weird how the US great depression didn't seem to reach other countries as much (at least not from what I can tell, at least)
Still not correcting for aspect ratio.
??
the opening scene is in 16:9, the second scene is in 4:3.
Thank you for preserving history ❤ the traffic is wild though 😂 I guess people were too brave or trusting back then
;)
Remember an Austin 7 didn’t have the acceleration of a modern jaguar or BMW. Pedestrian crossings had only been introduced in 1924,no white lines etc. Also no driving tests if you could afford a car you were considered sensible enough to drive ( you went to the post office to get your driving license, crazy really).
Life must have been horrible without diversity.
Thank goodness that time is behind us
Amusing. You can't say the same about India 😉
