He later married Aslaug who gave him his sons. This is different from translation to translation but I love the idea that this famous warlord had a crush he was to nervous to talk to 😂

Just a few corrections. "Ayla" or Ælla was king of Northumberland, not England, a small kingdom in the north of the modern kingdom. He was also most likely NOT executed via blood eagle, but killed in the Battle of York in 867, at the hands of Ragnar's son's army. This is stated in the Anglo-Saxon accounts of the war, and modern historians no longer believe the blood eagle was even a real execution method, rather being the result of Scandinavian poets misunderstanding historical depictions of men lying dead on the battlefield (with their backs torn open by carrion birds) as the aforementioned mythical execution method.
@@Starr_Apathy Except for the fact that I never claimed he didn't point out the fact that this is sourced from sagas. Instead, I pointed out that despite acknowledging this, he both directly got the kingdom ruled by Ælla wrong, and stated his fate by blood eagle without mentioning either specific context, or the fact that even within the context of using sagas as sources, the blood eagle is most likely not true. Acknowledging the sagas' possible unreliability doesn't garner much when he literally cites the most sensationalist, and incorrect, interpretations of those sagas to present in his video, effectively as fact until the very last few minutes of the video. Both decisions being clearly intentional efforts to further the clickability of the video (including using the false claim of Ælla being the king of England in the title).

Great video - well written and paced I very much liked the ending; I would argue it was exactly when the producers of Vikings leaned into the saga like nature of the stories that they reached their peak - for example, at the endings of Ragner himself, Björn and Lagertha (the latter a masterclass in a story arc), as well as the fever dream of Floki in Iceland. But in the final moments, the series strips it all back to the simple basis for all myths - humans living a life, and having a the rare luxury to reflect upon it outside mead hall or battle... Incidentally, in the blood eagle, the ribs were not so much ripped out, as cut from the spine - causing the 'wings' of the eagle as they were pulled outwards. Vile, and possibly apocryphal only, torturous death.
You have several historical inaccuracies in this video. "English Empire" was not a thing. England at the time was made up of several petty Anglo-Saxon (NOT "English") kingdoms, controlling multiple fragmented parts of the island. You also may have pointed out Paris as the 'capitol' of the Carolingian (Frankish) Empire, which is not true.
"Pants with magic fabric that makes me unkillable in battle" is a very fancy, too wordy way to say "lucky pants". The dude had a pair of "lucky pants". Many of the greatest generals such as Alexander, Marius (and his "mules"), Caesar, Napoleon and Shaka were famous for their lightning fast marches of surprise. This allowed them to place enemy forces at a disadvantage while they were unready for battle; while not in formation, while still waiting for the rest of the army to catch up or attacking from a surprising direction. The long straight lines of the old roman roads were first used for military speed. The Vikings like the mongols, Huns and American Indian plains horse cultures were known for fast hit and run tactics. Some of these cultures success grew their numbers and technology and warranted battles of occupation with siege engines. the discipline that it takes you to master your craft is good for the soul of the artiest and allows them to learn much of the HUMAN experience there is a reason the best scientists in history were all artists of one kind or another its good for the mind to draw to really draw something you have to know how it works how it moves how light falls upon how you see it and most importantly what you feel and think about it !
What do you have to KNOW about life to write a text prompt ? we are becoming to lazy to be human its one thing to take us out of the field or the factory but taking us out of the studio will be the death of man ! man kinds purpose we are built to make things its how we grow and understand and survive its ARE magic and ARE birth rite birds fly fish swim humans craft when that goes we go !
yeah it took me a while to figure out it was AI art, it looks so good tho
@@CryptoTonight9393 Yeah that's not the same lol Don't act like this is photography. You are just stealing other peoples work.
@@arminkuburas1696people said the same thing about photography
Instant sub, the writing and visual content was very pleasing. Horses you need to keep this up!
Seeing this video then seeing the view count actually hurts. TH-cam is supposed to be a place where the good stuff rises to the top but this video is proof it’s not a flawless process & the algorithm can get it wrong sometimes!
I do feel like eventually this will blow up tho! Sometimes you just wake up one day and see you have been blessed by the YT gods and have tonnes of views lol. Fingers crossed for you. So beautifully made!
Just found this creator and a huge fan already. Definitely needs more attention and views!
Quality of your videos is insanely good. Keep it up.
1:37 1814? I know you meant 814, but it tickles me to think Vikings were around just 200 years ago
Was wondering if anybody else caught that haha
well there might have been some guy who went down with a boat from one of the scandinavian countiries to some other country and robbed some one
Such great leaders should come back in style
A SEA KING???! HE WAS THE PIRATE KING!!
Confirmed. He was a Sikorsky

I was searching for NASB content and then I found this channel
I love doc channels and this one needs WAY more subs
Subbed
Incredible artwork mixed with the cinematic grain, great job
its ai bro
@@hristoiliev8542 believe it or not I know this, and I think this is a great use for it, smaller creators don't have a huge budget for production and decent AI art is good visual filler for this kind of content

This channel has 90k subs now, guarantee it's in the millions in no time. Love this style so much
Do one on Rollo The Walker, a viking so great horses could not carry him, according to legend. So he would walk to battle. My family name Gammage(Gammache France)comes from his grandson William the Conqueror, who took my Norman ancestors from Normandy and invaded England, killing the king and taking over the whole of the country in the battle of Hastings in 1066. Rollo's viking blood literally took over England and the royal bloodline is directly linked to him. Pretty interesting history. Some say he's from Iceland, some say Norway, but I got my dna tested and it said we come from Norway, and nobody in my family is from Norway
Sounds like he was just scared of riding horses.
For a long time, Frankish defenses were well-organized enough to deter any attacks from the horse
TH-cam REALLY REALLY wants me to watch this man haha. Every time I load this website up you're on my front page, which means you're on the come up! Hope the algorithm keeps treating you well.
really well put together video that deserves much more views, keep it up we need more quality story tellers
I heard 1814 ..
This is my new favorite TH-cam channel
I like that comment, that the recent Vikings show is like a modern telling of the saga. I mean, it literally is but it's still not thought of that openly.
You realize the show "vikings" is like 75% fiction, it's actually super disappointing to most Scandinavian people
cool
It was originally made by history channel.
All the stories and sagas take liberties in their retellings. I am OK with that. It is part of the art of storytelling. 🤷♂️
This Ragnar guy sounds fascinating. They should make a tv show about him.
bro, your channel is so good, I can't believe this video has only 4k views, you deserve so much more that that! I will share your channel with some friends, I hope to bring you more viewers :)
btw, I love the drawings in your videos, are those yours?
Thank you for this saga me being a real Viking appreciates you
Calling what they did Blitzkrieg is a little disingenuous. Blitzkrieg was a form of post-industrial combined arms warfare, not just "attack fast and hard"
But it was that too.
I love the little detail of the magic pants. I bet they were pretty comfy. I want those pants.
I wonder what animal they were made from. Icelandic magic has necro-pants (don't look them up) and there are sagas with men turning into wolves with magic wolf skins. Then there are the berserkirs and úlfhéðnar.
hey man, great content but how can Charlemagne die in 1814? 1:38 Maybe I heard wrong because english is not my first language.
He died in 814 AD, not 1814. I was confused too.
Nope you heard right, it was a mistake but still a cool video in my opinion.
watched you video on Marcus Aurelius and this. immediately sold on the animation, content, and narration.
These drawings are so crazy !! Id love to see a tutorial on how you use AI to get them :)
What a wonderful video, bro! Absolutely awesome!
Beautiful. I absolutely love this style of historical, mini documentaries, with a whiff of animation/anime.
Please continue your TH-cam channel and creative endeavors. 🫡
Jesus of Nastywrath says in the Gothspell of Thormass: "Don't stop Sea King until you have founding."
3:48 Aha! Now I know who enchanted his pants. It was Gandalf's daughter with the help of a certain RING!
I believe there might have been a mistake at 1:40 about Charlemagne’s death, you said 1814 but think you might have meant 814
Think blud read the wrong wiki page.
just found out about this channel. You do great work. subbed.
Re: The death of Charlemagne. Of course, you thought you were saying that he died in 814, but it comes out in audio & CC as 1814. There was different Empereur tearing up Europe at that time . . .
the flow of time is convoluted
Ayyo, the art here is amazing, maybe get some sources to cite in the description tho. Also, it’s worth noting that blitzkrieg was never a word used by the Germans. It was the creation of the allies to explain their tactics.
Its ai art
@@Amongus-yu7ft the Germans were also AI generated

Now I know what it would look like if Miyazaki did a Medieval/Dark Ages Viking movie.
Love the visuals. The muted colors are great.
I dont think Charlemagne died in 1814 lol
He dies in 814😂😂
He took the name Napoleon and reconquered Middle Francia, and Eastern Francia
They added a 1 to the date. Died in 814.
814 AD
Lol
The images look beautiful.
I’m really glad I’ve found your channel lately. You’re a great story teller. May I ask where you get your images? They’re always so on point with the story you’re telling. Are they AI generated?
Le .
They are A.I. yes
For a second I thought it was from a hidden Ghibli Film lmao
was kinda disappointed to find out that it’s AI but still very informative and quality videos
Great video mate, and absolutely loved the ending !
Im always so amazed how cleverly u utilize ai art, at szch a consistent quality level.
While watching your video, i get the feeling of seeing old pictures of an 80s cartoon of ragnar. Which im sure is intended
Amazing!
Thank you for using ai art so well and creating this wonderful illusion
The message I get from this video is that humans, no matter what, love a good story.
