That was indeed enjoyable. My problem with many antique stores is, I'm old enough that sometimes I'll see an "antique" and realize that i played with one of those when I was a child. Perhaps I am now an antique.
Hi Tom, Enjoyed the trip down memory lane. But had to shed light on the “strainer for rice” - that is actually an antique cone sieve FOOD MILL with wooden pestle. My mother would use one to process blanched tomatoes for canning tomato purée or tomato juice. She did countless bushels of tomatoes every fall using one of these. This was prior to the stainless steel crank version that eventually took its place and preceded the home electric food processor appliance by decades.
Tom, I DID enjoy this video. Many years ago, I was in Arthur. I remember eating at a restaurant that had a GIANT rocking chair outside. My mom took my picture sitting in it. (looked like Edith Ann). I think I may have to venture up that way again it's only a 3-hour drive for me. But will wait until Spring. Right now, here in Southern Illinois we are in the midst of a Winter storm. Praying we don't lose power getting lots of sleet and a little snow at the moment. STAY WARM!!!!
Hi Donna. You are referring to Rockhome Gardens with the big rocking chair. I have several pictures of my children in that chair. That closed up many years ago and is now Aikman wildlife zoo. It's still worth a visit. No snow here yet but I hear it coming.
Great tour of the antique shops near you. Enjoyed the different items you featured. The item you felt was a candle lighter, the one too short for street lamps. looks very similar to the candle lighters I remember being used in Catholic services to light the candles for Mass. Thanks for sharing.
I like old antiques but not as much as my father did. He would of loved going to these places. 😊

Yup. I agree!✌🏼
Thanks for clarifying. I guess I can't trust the first thing that Google tells me :-)

Interesting. Could be from a church. Thanks.
This is an awesome video!
Thanks! I wish a million other people felt the same way :-)
