Can something be more beautiful and delicate than Sidsel Hoivik's work? Sometimes I get the feeling of being in the presence of genius and beauty. This was the case when I listened to Sidsel and saw her work. Thank you for introducing us to her. It was inspiring.

Thank you for this interview with Sidsel Hoivik! Her work is complex and absolutely stunning. I feel much more motivated to pursue stranded work now, and incorporate it into my own designs.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! First time watching your podcasts. I am so amazed at where knitting can take me. I have been knitting for only a few years, and have enjoyed learning and trying new things. I still sew on my mothers 1953 pfaff zig zag machine. I have a newer Kenmore but I always go back to hers

With how beautiful your sewing projects are turning out and how well you knit, you really should never buy off the rack. Your homemade garments are amazing! So glad you are listening to your doctors and resting your hands/arms, definitely don't apologize for taking a knitting break.

Hi Andrea. I have recently started watching your TH-cam videos, beginning with Episode 1. I must say, I enjoy the show immensely. Even though you speak English, as I do, the topics you speak of are all like a foreign language to me. I love all parts but I am completely overwhelmed . Normally I crochet granny square blankets. But recently, since listening to you, I have pulled out my knitting needles. I have inherited both my mothers and mother in law's straight metal needles. I also have their needles for rounds. I don't know how to use them. I know how to k&p on straight needles. I can't even imagine knitting a "jumper"...waaaay too much. Your jumpers are amazing. I know nothing about yarn; I walk into a small yarn shop and get completely overwhelmed . One day though, I hope to make a summer sleeved jumper with some lacework in it. I am learning continental knitting where I keep the yarn in my left hand. But purling takes a lot of concentration. Anyway, hello. And thank you.

Andrew well done too but I think you have have a great teacher . I too was taught by my Grand mother and have just seen your episode on seaming - exactly what I have always done .I live in South Wales but have spent many holidays in Snowdonia . It must be so frustrating having a complete break from knitting but it will be worth it . We visit Austria and Germany frequently and I normally indulge in some local yarn ! Another fabulous pod cast. The 40's inspired sweaters were terrific and Sidsel's creative Colorwork was inspiring. She also did very well with her English. Andrea, I love hearing about your sewing projects. Thanks for the tip about knitting jersey fabric. I have been staying away from sewing with it because I didn't want to buy a serger. I might have to try it soon.

Just adding another tip: spray your fabric with a water/vinegar mix and use a hot iron on pleats, let the fabric cool completely before moving (large pleated projects can take days to iron). It works to set pleats on most fabrics, although testing on a swatch is good to see if it’ll stain.

Andrew you choose the right design- I finished my Bousta yesterday! It is the perfect size for a first stranded project, you will love it. I used leftovers from my Afmæli sweater. You can see how I steek it on my IG @ greenjellybeans. As I told you in a previous comment, your podcast really inspired me to try colourwork and your interviews are so interesting that I'm happy everytime I discover a new podcast.

Great episode, this is the third time watching since last year (I learn something new each time I listen to your podcasts, so much information)..I never knew about using the zigzag stitch for stretchy fabric. Brilliant. That solves a big problem I've run into when sewing jersey material. Thank you!!
Thank you once again for this interesting podcast. I'm not much of a sewer, but your dresses make me want to start using the sewing machine again. Mind you, I have a Pfaff Tipmatic 1027, which was gifted to me by a dear friend last year and is even older than yours and it still runs like a well-oiled machine. 🙂

The tutorial on the twisted cable stitch was particularly helpful. I happen to be starting socks with that stitch and was wondering how to knit without having to use cable needles (I was challenged to do so from one of your previous episodes). My attempts last night were not successful and so have been seriously thinking of making myself some type of cable needle (maybe from hairpins). I even said to myself, "This is going to be a looong project..." And then your new podcast arrived with the tutorial! Now, I get excited every time I have to knit the twisted stitches. Thank you so much for a wonder show. When you get back to knitting check out Portuguese knitting. It is the easiest knitting that I have ever done and is pretty easy to master. I wasn't able to do English knitting because I broke my right wrist 20-years ago and I can't use my right hand as well as I could before I broke it. There are a couple of differences but you get the same effect. To work garter stitch you purl every row. Purling is the easiest stitch to work. That way you can change things up and not put so much strain on your arms and hands. Sidsel Høivik is so talented and I will be getting a kit from her for sure.

Hello Andrea, I am watching the episode and just had to stop and say that I have a pfaff sewing machine, can't be without it. Anyway Schmetz sewing needles have special needles for jersey fabrics (stretchy), denim, embroidery., delicate fabrics etc. They will make your sewing experience so much easier and enjoyable. I use the right needle for the fabric that I am using and it makes a world of difference. Miss your knitting but I just thought the Schmetz will help you with your sewing. Thank you so much for the tutorial on Twisted Stitches Andrea! I am about to cast on Threshold (by Melanie Berg) and as I am swatching I was thinking what have I got myself into! Then, I remembered that I made a note in my knitting diary about this tutorial (I was planning on using it to design a sock). This will make this jumper so much more fun to knit! I love this technique!!

Hello Andrea. I was wondering if it would help to knit Continental - I assume you knit English style. Would it put less strain on your muscles? I hope you pain passes fast so you can craft with your needles again. Love from Sweden.

Love your Podcasts, but I dissagree on one thing this time: Eggs are not healthy! They are devestating to your health and one should think, after 600 years of error people would learn from their mistakes, but instead they like to call it tradition and try to rectefy them. :-( other than that, I really enjoyed the video. :-)
