Great video. I was there with my wife August 2022 and I was surprised at how much she got from it - how people lived and worked in "the olden days". My main interest was the old steam engines and I was especially delighted to chat with the fireman and driver as they brought Billy up to temperature. This is a living museum where the employees engage with the public and in my opinion, is so much better than the "dead" museums which just house artifacts. Very unfair I know but I learned far more at Beamish than the NMR in York.
It was my first ever visit and, likewise, was delighted with it, especially for its rekindling of some old memories. Thank you for your kind comment and for watching.
A super video and a nice look back to the way life was many years ago. I loved the tram footage and inside the various stores. I have actually visited the site but this was when the museum was in its early years and it didn't have the very high profile or attractions that it enjoys today. Very nice filming as usual. Cheers - Allan.
The site is continuously evolving, Allan. As mentioned in the vid, a replica ‘50s terraced street is in final touches and worth seeing: brings back some vivid memories. Worth an update visit, I reckon. Many thanks for watching and for commenting so generously.
A superb video Allan from a great complex. It makes me wonder even more why I have never visited! Once again you have accompanied your images with a fine and informative presentation. Cheers, Jeff.
Thanks, Jeff, for such nice comments. Yes, a visit is well worthwhile and (bonus not mentioned in my video) the old style town pub (complete with spittoon) serves a decent jar! lol.
I agree absolutely, Ian. Sadly, living now in the USA, I can't get over frequently enough to make full use of my ticket: wish I could, though! lol. Thanks for watching and commenting - enjoy your Beamish ticket to the full. 👍
excellent video of beamish i have just been for the christmas event i agree with you its well worth a visit specially now they do they the yearly pass so only pay once a year
With apologies for my late response, thank you for your kind comment. Sadly, living in the USA, I can’t avail myself of the ticket’s annual benefits. Even so, it is IMHO great value for money. Enjoy your next visit - probably long before I’m able to make mine! lol.
Good question. I’m not sure but, given that Beamish strives for authenticity, for each period it is trying to reproduce, the candles might indeed be of beeswax. Thank you for watching and the interesting question.
Indeed yes for the town, and William IV, Victorian and new Elizabethan elsewhere on the site. The mix makes it all the more enjoyable. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I went about 5 years ago Allan it is a fantastic way to look back on time , I loved it
Agreed, Dave - it’s a great place that proves nostalgia ain’t what it was. Thanks for watching.
Very good video!
Thank you for your comment and I’m pleased you enjoyed the video. I apologize for not responding sooner.

On the other videos of Beamish, I have seen a Local Policeman Bobby out on his beat.
Sadly, no coppers on the beat when we were there.
nice
Thank you for watching. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
are those Beeswax candles on the table?
