this is the best modern shoegaze album we’ve had in a while… the song structures are unique, which is a problem a lot of modern shoegaze bands have, most of them sound very redundant and predictable. This album was definitely worth the wait, 9/10
Haven’t seen anyone mention this but the transition between very little effort into clairbourne practice was such a cool thing to me and I hope they do it just as smoothly when I see them live next month
like most i went into this album expecting something COMPLETELY different, and i came out of it completely drained (not a bad thing). i wasnt expecing this album to be so vulnerable and crushing. this is such a huge step in a new direction for julie and i absolutely adore their new sound and cant wait to see how theyre gonna develop from here
i feel like for a debut album this is something special. they took a huge leap in terms of changing their sound for a majority of this album and it grew on me. i really like feminine adornments for its complexion and huge change in sound from usual julie. i loved this album. i need more julie. 8-9/10
VERY STRONG 9/10 album, I love the overblown production in this album. I love how the structure goes and I love how every song is performed. This album is constant banger after banger to the point it inspires me in my own music
this album has had me in a chokehold since the minute it released. my favourites are thread stitch, very little effort, and piano instrumental. by far my favourite release of theirs and one of the best albums to come out of this decade in my opinion 🤍
Dude I'm 47 and went to hundreds of shows in the 90s and I was blown away when I listened to this album the other day. It's been on repeat since. It brings me back to my high school and college days which are always everyone's favorite times of their lives. I've never heard them before spotify suggested the album to me. I saw the album cover and figured what the hell let's give it a spin. It's going to be high on my album of the year chart along with Lesser Care, Whitelands, Wisp, Glassing, Adorer, slift, khruangbin, state faults, and punchlove.
They absolutely killed it, feminine adornments is my new favorite track of theirs. Listened to the album about 3 times on a scenic drive, think I reached nirvana.
I love that they released this album physically & really hope that they make a compilation album of all their previous singles for CD & Vinyl at some point
This is a great album and a great young band (I'm 45). I agree with the reference to Sonic Youth and would add 'Isn't Anything' era My Bloody Valentine. Hoping to check out in February when they tour Australia.
I love the powerful singles from Julie but this album is just so beautiful. Making me cry about my personal life and it touches me alot. Cant wait to see then live!
On my first listen it sounded kinda redundant like one continuous song and it was missing the emotional and instrumental energetic heights that julie songs usually have. I did like the sound but all these comments and pitchfork’s review is gonna make me relisten and reconsider fs
Their new album is sooo good!! I’ve been listening a lot to the songs from the album mainly feminine adornments. The album is peak and can’t wait to see more
i actually found ur channel through the julie interview you did because I’ve been so into them for a while. So i’m very glad you gave them a second chance🤘🏼
This album is so frickin good! My fav songs are probably feminine adornments and tenebrist
oh wow! you again.

blonde redhead is a very good comparison

Your Julie interview is actually where I first saw them and I had completely forgotten until now, wow

I cant wait to see them in Austin. Feminine Adornments is magical.
It was okay 👍 cool debut
It's such a great debut album!! I hope they'll be able to venture out a bit more like they did for feminine adornments in their next one

Omg I love this album
less shoegaze more kind of noise rock/punk than i was expecting
it was ok, definitely a lot weaker than all of their previous releases. to be honest i was pretty disappointed :
Me too. I really wanted to like it, and it has a few good songs, but a lot of the songs just sound lame imo.
yall buggin
I'ts a good listen 🙌
