Let me make this straight. I'm well aware that the Class 28s didn't start their retirement until the late 1960s. However, I decided to make a minor altercation to history for story purposes. I wanted to put some drama in this episode that makes Boco become who he is. Boco came to Sodor in 1965, so the first Class 28s retirement wouldn't be until 2 years later. It wouldn't have had the same emotional impact if he just heard his brothers had been scrapped whilst on Sodor. He needed to experience it directly. Boco was already a changed diesel when he came to Sodor so it wouldn't have had the same impact on his character there.
George White That’s not the only inaccuracy here. The Class 28 was known as the Metropolitan-Vickers Type 2 when it was introduced. The Class 28 designation wasn’t used until BR adopted the TOPS system in 1968 (TOPS was actually created by Southern Pacific, and a BR official was inspired during a trip to the States).
@@billyjordan8588 It all boils down to cost effectiveness, diesel locomotives are less labor intensive which means you need less people to keep them running.
It is actually historically accurate the only class 28 alive is d5705 cause they were problematic and loud they were fast night runners boco actually being in top 20 fastest Thomas characters ever.
I actually feel sorry for Boco since he found out that his brother got scrapped, and I was surprised that he had a little bit of Diesel’s mentality, but then again, we have yet to see how Boco changed
Very emotional! So many Diesels went through this until BR finally settled for the Diesel Electric standard and then even reliable Hydraulics like the Hymek, the Warships and the Deltics all faced major scrapping apart from the lucky few that were preserved. The 08/09 shunters were replaced by the class 66 as well when shunters became obsolete.

Way to give BoCo a haughtier outlook in the beginning. Make him a bit like Diesel, and he quickly gets beaten into reality after only three years. Vulcan, eh? That sounds familiar... Where did I hear it? ;)
Boco wasn't like Diesel to me. Diesel came to Sodor and wanted to revolutionize the steam engines away quickly by spreading lies about Duck. It didn't feel like that to me in this episode. I mean did Diesel ever say my dear engines there's a reason everyone is raving about us right now in a manner that's actually more cajoling and affectionate?
@@DarthWill3 Oh that's okay. The Class 28 wasn't the only class that had problems. Other failed classes were 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, and 23. These were all withdrawn under the 1968 National Traction Plan, which also saw the withdrawal of the Western Region diesel hydraulics (not because they were unreliable, but because they used engines considered non-standard by BR, who was ordered to reduce the amount of mainline diesel classes from 28 to 15 by 1974, and since the hydraulics were used exclusively in the Western Region, they were targeted for withdrawal). There were so many unreliable diesels because BR had rushed a large amount of classes into production to get rid of steam sooner, and while some like the Class 37 and Class 47 were so successful they still see mainline use to this day, others were so unreliable they had short service lives and couldn't be saved because the preservation movement was focused first and foremost on saving steam locomotives.
I would like to say something. One of My OC’s is based off of the same class as BoCo. My Character would be D5708, but his name would be Binx, his full name is CoBo Binx but he just goes by Binx. I specifically chose D5708 to be Binx because because D5708 & D5707 are the two BR class 28’s in the BR Green livery with Full Yellow Ends instead of Partial Yellow Ends. I Imagine that Right before he was about to be Scraped, Binx was bought by the manager of a Private Freight Company Based in a Town in the north of the island called Ronans Gate ( Which is a Town at the northern most end of the Island, Connected to the rest of the rail system by a Line that runs from the town of Ronans Gate to Harwick, and From Harwick to Arlesburgh. The line that was the Cronk and Harwick railway is used by this company Too, and the line even extends past the last town of the Cronk and Harwick Railway, being the town of Cregwir and it officially Terminates at a small Village on the east side of the lake called Loey Machan which is north of Culdee Fell Mountain. Their is a line that goes South from Ronans Gate and goes though a small town known as Apple Dale to the locals for its Orchard that surrounds the Town. Then the line goes to a Tunnel with two Three sets of rails. Two of the rails become one set of Gauntlet Track and the third stays single Track. The Gauntlet Track Split apart at both ends of the tunnel and then one of the rails junctions into another making two sets of rails at each end. The Tunnel goes underneath steep hills that could even be considered mountains, and the line that goes through the tunnel end at the small town called Droghan-y-Claghan. Their is another line that goes by the Coast and goes to the North Eastern side of Sodor where their is a small Industrial village at the end and this small industrial village is home to the North Eastern Sodor Smelters Yard. Their is also the North Sodor Railway ( NSR ) for my Narrow gauge character’s, But I will chose to explain that later. Now Back to Binx. Binx was mistakenly marketed to this Freight Company owner as a more modern diesel, but when he arrived, the Freight Company Owner was disappointed, but he managed to work with Binx and after Zane ( Another OC of mine, based off of the BR class d16/1’s ) returned from an Overhaul, Binx managed to learn from him. That’s basically it, though I left out how Zane needed an over haul. Let’s just say it involves a horribly worn down engine spraying sparks with broken fuel pipes that were leaking, some very nasty Trucks, a Steep Incline, Some Tankers with small Leaks, and a Horrible Crash that leads to one of the Tankers exploding in a BLEVE. And I know the music at the end, it’s “The Diseasle”.
