- On Rock Rods episode 116 we are taking you to Mid America Outdoors in Jay, Oklahoma for their Visions Offroad 2021 event. The best Rock Bouncers from all over the Country came to test out their skills on some brand new hill climbs. Rock Bouncer Hill Climb Racing involves two hills that are timed that accrue points for each driver. The driver with the most points after two hills wins the money.

@@BustedKnuckleVideo Who was responsible for setting this one up? The hills looked like some of the toughest to read so far which made keeping momentum in the right spots looking hard as hell. A turbocharged buggy's nightmare. I'd need a neutral button to keep spool through the hits lol. Kinda like clutch kicks.
@@anthonyjohnson100 they blew up the hills with dynamite before the event to make completely new hills. The park as well as SRRS and Pro Rock helped choose the lines and modify the hills. I even tested a few in our shop buggy to help them dial them in before the race.

Funny how some runs can put things into perspective. TC screws up BIG TIME his first run, loses several seconds backing up, and still manages to take 3rd place at the end of his run. TC is an alien, I'm convinced.

Tim Cameron has finished it in a bomber car. We trail ride all over KOH.
Did something happen to Bubba that I somehow missed? His right foot seems to have lost quite a bit of weight in the last couple of years. He was chewing the back off T.C.'s heels, but it seems he's nearly always in the middle of the pack recently.
I think he is now in the shop building a new rig to be competitive next season.

I would love to come to these events with a different rig every time, not worried about season standing at all, but just trying to build a more capable rig than these guys can and showing off like crazy.
But then again I’ve never seen any of these hills in person
the hills are crazy in person, they just make them look easy

But if I lived in your neck of the woods I would certainly try, I never back down from a challenge especially if I challenged myself.
Lots of those boys are definitely super talented with both building and driving.
But that ain’t gonna stop me from trying to embarrass them, embarrassing people is what I’m best at.

If it wasn’t for guys like you, and Tim Cameron, then rock bouncing wouldn’t even be a sport and let me tell you sometimes I fall asleep watching that slow paced points based rock crawling.
I don’t buy rigs I build em, I just don’t want to ruin the competition, I’m talkin I’ll show up once a year and that’s the only time you’re ever gonna see me.
When I fail then I’ll just be back again 🤷🏻♂️

How much horsepower is some of these buggies pushing out on average?
I would say 800 on average. Some as much as 1600
@@BustedKnuckleVideo oh wow. I had no idea that high. I bet it cost a good $ to get 1600 hp.
Big power isn't needed, just makes you have to upgrade parts and make the buggy heavier. 800-1000hp is all you need and keep the rig as light as possible.
