    I can't tell you how many times back in the 80's and 90's that I crushed my hand between a tree and the bars before getting a set of bark busters.
    I am a firm believer in full wrap arounds but to each their own.

    I’ve rammed these things into big rocks and trees (not on purpose) and they just bounce the handlebars over. Hands and levers were untouched. I’m really impressed by these. Thanks Jeff! Also, those handlebar ends are great protection in falls (for the bike). They look really good too. Thanks again!

    Another big advantage to flag type guards is they don't hinder the bar's ability to flex, those look like some of the best flag guards available.

    I just put mine on yesterday, anxious to see how I like them. Like yours, Seehorn sent them with the rectangular aluminum pieces on the backs of the shields mounted like two “lefts”. On the throttle shield, I turned that aluminum piece around to mirror the clutch side to get the same distance from the bar ends. The clutch side mount on bar is farther in though. Point is, it appears that those rectangular pieces can be turned either way to get work around the kill switch and throttle housing. Beautiful craftsmanship! Todd Roe

    I'm a huge advocate for SxS Burly handguards. I ride in the northeast. The trees are TIGHT at times. Lots of old school enduro riders around here run 28-inch bars! You hit the nail on the head at 4:30. That is exactly why I run flags and I am a safer and faster rider now than I was with full-wraps. I run them on my YZ250X and my XR650R

      Been riding with Relex Racing Recurve Full Guards to date on my Beta 200 RR up in the Northeast and have been considering trying these with minimizing too much protection ?

    There was something I liked about running the stock flags on my new 300… I left my cycra’s in the parts bin for a month. When I finally mounted the cycra’s I immediately noticed the stiffness of the bars, and the rigidity of tree impacts. If these SXS protect the controls in multiple rollovers per ride, I’m in.

    “Riding season” you mean all year? 😉
    Come ride Penrose with us all winter 😁
    I’m just picking, these looks awesome though. I’m a believer in full wraps, but I’ve been seeing these and some other ones like it. I’d like to give them a try some day.

    Here’s what I like about this product, those wraparound hand guards drive me crazy. They are going to mess up at some point. And you have to wrestle with the handlebar screws. The performance with the Burley hand guards is better. It bounces off trees, it gives just the right amount, but adds the protection. But my favorite thing is that it’s not a can of worms when the bolt backs out the side of the handlebar or gets jacked up. This is an essential product. Great work sxs

    I’ve tried all the wrap arounds and even these Sxs flags. I still think the OEM wrap around KTM plastic hand guard that screws into the OEM flags are by far the best hand guards there are. If you keep the brake/clutch calipers not too tight they rotate in a crash too. Plus they are like $40. I don’t understand why more people don’t run them

    • @ronilsonsoares4194

      Same. I bought mine for like $30 from the dealer. It matches the look of the bike and it's also very durable. I have dumped my bike numerous time and hit a couple of trees.
      Can stand the look of this sxs.

    • @slaverace1
      @slaverace1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eric: The O.E.M. flags offer little to no protection. They very easily fold back and crunch your fingers. The SXS guards with the Beefy mounts give great protection.

      @@slaverace1 OEM flags with the KTM power parts wrap around plastic tie-in. Lasted longer than any other wrap-arounds I've tried bouncing off trees in the PNW.

    Nice review, I'm running acerbis ones which I like, but it's just not fun in gorse ( think 6-12 got high light thorns ) and over about 3/4 inch branches. This looks seriously nice !!.

  • @futurefaith
    @futurefaith ปีที่แล้ว

    ….to try to articulate my previous comment better: in my Rain Man OCD state, I noticed that even though I put the aluminum bar mounts equidistant from the bar ends, the shields were at slightly different angles. It was b/c both aluminum pieces on the insides of the shields were pointing the same direction like two thumbs. So I 180’ed one of them to mirror each other. Now they are equidistant AND angled the same with the switches and perches arranged differently, all because of that throttle housing. These positively brute guards are going to do their job no matter what, but the symmetry appeals to me, hahaha

  • @feellucky2970
    @feellucky2970 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Jeff thanks for the product review. Looks like a good wind deflector 😉 For the tight single track with trees I’ll stick with the Cycra.

    • @onthethrottle7104
      @onthethrottle7104 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you talking about the Cycra wrap around tie into the bar system? If so, those things are dangerous, I've jacked up my hands with those and watched a pro racer snap his arm as his hand slipped off the bars into the wrap around system and crashed - snapped his arm bad and I will never put those wrap around systems on again

    • @feellucky2970
      @feellucky2970 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jeff I would agree with your statement. I ride the LAB2V every year. I crashed really bad one year and broke my wrist, ribs, pelvis and they removed my spleen. My wrist ended up having a plate put in with multiple screws for about 6 months. It's very possible the handguards contributed or caused the break. The doctors called it a potato chip fracture. The handguards in this video possibly could have prevented the broken wrist and is probably better for the more open desert trail rides. But for the tight single track with trees and heavy brush I'll stick with the wraparound Cycra's. I may be pressing my luck but I'm still using the Cycra's on the LAB2V ride as well.

    I reckon you could get them to flex more by drilling a couple extra holes too.
    Are you still happy with them a year on? These look like a good compromise to full wraps.

      Hello Crash:
      I switched to the Molecule brand slavensracing.com/shop/handguards-by-molecule-motosports/ of open end handguards simply because they are more stylish to my eye. I put a lot of miles on the SXS guards and loved them. They are the toughest of the two brands.
