Stargazer is such a killer freaking song shout out to it …Ghost at the gallows is def one of my favs this year so many riffs the songwriting is superb
There is something about my native countrymen's ability to sound apologetic -- even when talking enthusiastically about the things that supposedly bring them joy --- that i find endlessly heartwarming.
I have heard a bit of Spirt Adrift but after watching this i gotta check out more. Killer player.
They have great albums, but it is only half as good as these dudes are live. One of my top shows this year!
Tom is such a amazing musician and a great fellow as well… Great stuff!
Ride the lightning has a lot of fun riffs. Love that les paul!
Well done! Cheers!
Totally agree about the interplay between Izzy and Slash on the early GnR stuff. I was so bummed when they replaced Izzy with Gilby Clarke because he didn't even bother playing Izzy's parts live.
Spirit Adrift are riff monsters
Manic Street Preachers are not mentioned enough for great guitar playing
... Agree/Disagree.
They're definitely under-recognised by the guitar magazine musos, classic rock and metal fandoms, etc. they are/were great rock songwriters and genre-straddlers, they didn't get enough love for their early albums, and they get unfairly lumped in with "indie". But, are Ritchie and JDB they among the guitar "greats"? IDK.
I could name a lot of bands who write transportive, transcendent music on the guitar that any fool could learn, but stands on its own outside the context of a genre, movement or song... Would I think of MSP? At least, would I think of them before I'd already come up with a top ten that they can't possibly break into?
He's a criminally underrated guitarist just like the guy out of supergrass
I think we might be best friends 😂
Saw Spirit Adrift opening for Midnight in January and they were just fantastic. Great tandem guitar playing. Love it!
