Their other variant literally just has a red stripe on it. But they added a hyperdrive and a rear turret so I guess it's different. But what's even funnier is that they still had their own versions of TIE Interceptors, even gave them to elite pilots instead of mass-producting them. Why, we may never know. Probably because their designer was executed for insulting Papa Snoke's bathrobe. Just look at it. It's ridiculous."

When I was a kid I thought they were called TIE Fighters because they looked like bow ties.
I'm pretty sure TIE is a "backronym". They are called TIEs because they look like bowties. The Twin Ion Engine part came after.

Uhh, you got some audio/editing issues near the end of the video Eck. No voiceover for the shots of the sequel TIES and the outro has no music.
I assumed there was just nothing important to say about those last entries.

I like both the TIE Fighter and the Interceptor as both were very iconic in their shape of design and their screen time in the movies, although the TIE Dagger got a decent amount of screen time in The Rise Of Skywalker, we never get to see what the pilots look like, but hey at least the wings look like Nacho Cheese Doritos (lol, I love the nickname for it, TIE Dorito), but I love the TIE Sticker from Rogue One because it's cool and imposing wings and the way it's only used for atmospheric flight, it reminds me of the German Stuka Dive Bomber with their sirens used in WWII, and those are my favorite TIE's. Good job making this video Eck!
Saw FAR too little of Interceptor on screen, yes. But what was there of it, was memorable.

Tie fighter was cheap but far too slow and basic. The cost of training and paying pilots made them a poor choice. Interceptors were significantly better but they should have gone for the advanced as the basic starfighter. The issue with these was not against other fighters but transports with turrets and any ship with missiles.
TIE Hunter will always be my favorite because of Rogue Squadron III.

The TIE is where the Empire screwed up. What they needed was a high quality space superiority fighter like the X wing, not a cheap swarm fighter. The TIE was simply there to protect the star destroyers from bombers and fighter-bombers, as the Empire knew no other capital ship could take on the ISD and survive. Incidentally, the ISD-II also didn't have any CIWS to defend against fighters, and relied on their TIEs.
So, what do the Rebels do? They engage with fighters only. The X-wing was their choice, a multi role space superiority fighter with torpedo launchers, hyperdrive, shields, astromech socket and a cup holder, it had all the optional extras. Sure, it was more complex than a TIE, and it wasn't as fast or agile, but it could take more damage and therefore had a much higher kill ratio. Combine this with the torpedo launchers, you could disable an ISD.
I quite like the TIE interceptor. It does what it's supposed to do, intercept. It's flaming fast, armed to take out fighters, and it looks pretty cool. It's still a flying coffin though.
Flying Coffin is also the nickname for the RB-79 Ball from the Gundam franchise.

I love how he just added the first order tie and dagger in without any voiceover, because the only differences are: THIS ONE BLACK (and also shielded, I think, but don't quote me) and THIS ONE TRIANGLE.
The TIE Dagger is a very cool and new design. If that's really the reason than it's quite stupid
Yeah, the First Order TIE Fighter is basically the regular Imperial TIE Fighter but with shields. The Special Forces TIE Fighter is the regular First Order one, but the reactor is moved to the pylons and doubled, a hyperdrive added, and tail gunner position installed.

@@HomoSolari they are still part of the TIE line (at least according to the canon page in Wookiepedia, and that only the TIE Crawler/Century Tank is canon), but indeed they are not starfighters. We're they built by Sienar Fleet Systems too?

Another TIE model was the Aleph-class (pondskippers) used by the GA. They were initially designed to counter the Vong's coralskippers, but were produced after the Yuuzhan Vong War concluded.
I like the Royal Guard TIE/IN interceptor, TIE/D Defender and TIE/rb(brute) heavy starfighter XD

Gotta love how the TIE/ln, TIE Bomber and TIE Phantom are all in the same family despite each being radically different in every way from each other. About the only system they have in common is the front window. :)
One of my favourites that was not mentioned here is the TIE Phantom from Rebel Assault 2. I played that game constantly growing up, and even got myself a resin model kit of the TIE.

Weren' there predecesors in the Old Republic era like the Mark 6 supremecy fighter which looks similar, had a similar function, had 2 ion engines and was extremely maneuverable?
There's one missing one in Legacy: The Sith-Imperial fighter, which is clearly a TIE relative complete will ball, and a lot of visual similarity to the Clawcraft

Loved flying my red Royal TIE Interceptor in SWG and the Aggressor was a blast if you had a friend along. Though I've since upgraded to a TIE Defender in X4 SW Interworlds. 😁
As much as I kinda dislike the new trilogy, I've gotta admit, they got the best looking TIE fighters. But the best overall is Vader's TIE fighter.

As for the TIE, I have never liked the classic version so much, but it is the other versions that I like very much aesthetically.
As for the models, the TIE / D defender and the TIE / IN interceptor, in addition to being very aesthetically beautiful (in my opinion), can mount shields, and the hyperdrive system, allowing you to fight on a par with the fighters of the republic rebels, the empire was wrong to prefer mass production of the classic version, without shields, life support, hyperdrive, and heavy weapons, and this contributed significantly to its defeat.

You ever think about doing a vid on the XG-1 Starwing? I seem to remember them being called Assault Gunboats in the old X Wing games. That design always stuck with me. (I also like the idea of there being imperial tie alternatives)
My personal favorite TIE variant is the royal Guard TIE Interceptor. It has the striking design of the interceptor, added wing flaps and the crimson color making it look even slicker. The Royal guard Interceptor is superior to the TIE interceptor in pretty much every way including, speed maneuverability, and weaponry, not to mention it had a shield and a hyperdrive.
How about the Tie Fighter from The Mandalorian with the folding wings?
You forgot about the TIE that came after the Predator; the Sith-Imperial Starfighter. Granted, there isn’t much info on its performance at all, but it’s probably worth mentioning.
What about the really weird ones? Like the TIE Oppressor, a design I rather like honestly, the TIE Sentinel, or Zaarin's super goofy Experimental (Bizzaro, BigGun, etc...) line?
