The idea of the mod is amazing! But they have to give the skateboards more visibility because you hardly see it on top of the thorns, and have an animation for the waterfall drops / end of the chapter.
something I really like is the way electric water is introduced. you come into the room and you see that the water turns yellow when touched by electricity. this immediately informs you that yellow water is a hazard to be avoided. good stuff.
A few things to the map maker; The icicles fall WAY too fast to be used as any form of hazard apart from something you have to dash through There's a lot of mechanics here (blue water orbs, ice water, icicles... skateboard?, portals, dash changing water, electric water, snowballs that change waters color, switch activated water changes, cassette bubbles, wind, berry torches, electric box + field, double dash crystal) , it's best to leave it to one or two, even if some are only used for a few screens. None of these are bad mechanics, but it's not that easy to follow what means what, especially if you aren't expected fo remember later on. Also, in celeste, mechanics tend to blend together, even across levels. You can play farewell, and see how chapter 3s dust bunnies and chapter 6s Kevin blocks blend almost perfectly, even though that's the least expected combination of things. Usually, if a mechanic isn't a block, a item you can pick up, a screen effect, a hazard or a thing that changes or reacts to your grab/dash, then it's not going to blend. The dash water and snow balls are a good example. I can see them used in tandem with other mechanics. The skateboard, icicles, and portals dont really seem like something that can blend, though. It's a very well put together map, and the individual mechanics are great, but it feels kind of patchy when put all in the same level. I feel like if you stuck to a few mechanics, it would be a lot better
I could see the portals blend if they worked with everything. Like you'd have to send a kevin block right through a portal, then move through a platform gauntlet to the left of you quickly to catch up with the kevin block in time since it warped to the other side of the screen. That kind of thing would be sick.
Imagine not knowing what Celeste is and you hear the phrase, "And see how chapter 3's dust bunnies and chapter 6's Kevin blocks blend almost perfectly".
I could agree, it would be really cool to see several different levels or even a full campaign where each level has a few of the new mechanics and they're unique to that level. But making entire levels is difficult and this was a really fun challenge, so I'm happy with it as it is!
Not discounting the amount of work put into this - but I really do think you should have stuck with just the water and icicle dropping mechanics. If you look at each level in Celeste they usually only introduce one per level. The constraint would make for a more tightly designed experience. Anyways, amazing mod! It's clear you put your heart and soul into this.
Wow this is so different and 3500 lines of unique code is crazy to think about! i never knew we would see Madeline riding a skateboard lol also 15:40 green = stank water

@@iamdadbod Hey dude, I have a little question. Can I do a Celeste series of mod for my own channel? It's going to be different, like, with commentary and without edition. So, can I? ( °-° )

Awesome mod! Just wanted to point out that you can bunny hop off the yellow/black water without dying, it happens in the video at 11:13. I assume this wasn't creator intended. It creates cheese strats for some screens, like 15:24.
Hey Dadbod the dark kill water can actually be jumped off. It's a really precise jump and doesn't refill your dash, but you could probably cheese the level with it!
There are probably dependencies that you needed. This needs at least Frost helper. On the game banana page for that mod, it lists the other mods you need. Also in the main menu, you can go to mod options and it will show what failed to load and why
@@JadedSnows Wow thanks for asking - I actually got all 202 berries a while ago. Farewell golden on a laggy Switch with joy-con drift was a very long and very annoying challenge, but all the more satisfying because of it. And I'm speedrunning the game now, which is fun!
