I think My first time ever riding a scooter was in Bali, "my brother had one long ago but I don't remember riding it " I've only ridden ATVs before. Anyway, I LOVED IT. I can manage with chaos on the road that's not a problem when you are alert and stuck in traffic most of the time to begin with. I got an injury however BUT it was a scratch and not caused by an accident or a fall or anything of the sorts. It was scrapes on my knee because those jerks put a freaking bar in the middle of it saying it is for security and some other BS. I got them to remove it but man that was freaking STUPID. Imagine riding on those freaking bumpy roads and you don't have enough leg room plus a freaking metal thing is scraping on your knee. IT WAS TORTURE.
This is such a great a video blog of riding a scooter in Bali. It's amazing how many people get hurt in Bali on bikes and it's never picked up by the media. You are correct if you're not experienced it's not a good place to learn how to ride a bike. We go back to Bali in 3 days time, and I cringe when I see young intoxicated people on scooters and there partner's on the back with no helmets on. Funny thing is these people don't realise insurance will not cover you if you do not have an international licence and you are not wearing a helmet. Nice video.
I'm riding scooter here for 4 years now. After a while you get into the natural flow. You don't have to think of artificial rules, so it becomes much more relaxing than driving in western traffic.
Yep, I didn't see a guy when I crossed the road back in 2016. Thankfully cost was not too high, and I only have a scar to remind me of the crash. Now I'm getting a license, so next time hopefully I'll be a better driver, and won't have to worry about being illegal.
Hey you has a good ride, its right to overtake a car by right side.. often people choosing left because its seems safe but its not, many thing to make rider stop when try to overtake
Another basic tip: Rent a scooter, not a motorcycle. So many novices rent a motorcycle thinking it'll be easy and they'll look cool, but a scooter is way easier and more than capable of the driving you'll do. I used to live in Saigon and I can't tell you how many tourists crashing motorcycles I've witnessed.
You seem a bit inexperienced as well to be honest, the way you drive is quiet dangerous. For example you shouldn't drive right on the back of a car, especially if you can't see what's in front of him. The moment the car makes an emergency brake you wouldn't have a chance to slow down as quickly as him. Keep at least 10m distance
Goodday sir, I'm trying to start a rental motorbike but with the avenger cruise 220 from Kawasaki/Bajaj here in Philippines. I just want to ask from a tourist's experience and perspective, should I go with small cruisers? or stick with the scooters?
If you are from India and you have ridden in Indian traffic. This is nothing. You can ride with one hand 😜. I have ridden there and it was very easy. Just follow traffic rules and don't over speed
One more thing, you need patience in Bali. The people are nice and all, except for the hawkers. They are annoying. There's even child hawkers trying to sell you useless crap and fake shit for stupid money.
People with no driving experience shouldn't drive in heavy traffic. Especially in India or on Bali. If you have experience you get in the flow, after 1 or 2 days. So what. But if someone without experience drives like you in the video, it can end really bad. Only my two cent🤷
I ride faster than the locals, lol, and I lean into corners going fast. The locals look at me like WTF. It's funny hearing the women yell while I ride past, "you want massage happy?" If you want a massage go ahead, but don't take offers from guys on scooters. That will cost 2 million Rupiah($200AUD). A girl asking will cost between 400,000 and 1,000,000.
Ask the locals. They will say this guy is crazy. Locals don’t like it when bule drive like this. It’s Bali, take it easy. It’s not the western world where you have to rush
