You're getting close to the area where my sister and I grew up. We used to drive the two hours to Steamboat and run fish creek all the way don to the Yampa River, run it through town, take out at a bar and restaurant called "The Yampa Yacht Club" have lunch, then get back on the river and play some of the holes a bit until it was time for the two hour drive back home. They have upgraded the irrigation outtakes since we used to run it, and there's some down timbre that wasn't there at that time. I know they have built a golf course and a lot of homes on the left bank further down from where the video ended since our kayaking days too. I guess things can't stay the same forever. My sister is dead, and I'm old and very disabled, so I can't run it anymore, but this video brings back good memories. Thanks for posting it! If you can make it to the next watershed south (the White River) there is some decent kayaking there, especially when the water is up. The South Fork, above the Stillwater Ranch (which my dad used to own and work) is great in high water, but you'll have to portage up a couple of miles since it's in a RARE II protected wilderness area. You should also carefully scout it first since trees will often blow down in the area, and are sometimes in or across the river. There's a pretty cool little waterfall in there, but some years wood will wash in there and make it un-runable, or very dangerous to run. There is also a nice little section of class IV from the county road 10 bridge. The river through the Stillwater ranch is slow, and kind of a long, boring paddle, so you can give that a miss. If the water is high, North Fork can be fun also. If you're paddling through the ranches, there won't be much wood in the water, though higher up in the national forest there often is. Another area over there which is fun to run during high water is Marvine Creek. It's the same thing there. The water has no down timber where it runs through the ranches, but you should scout first when in the national forest. That area isn't as well known as the Steamboat area, and the only nearby town of any size is Meeker, which is a long way downriver from where any challenging water is. If you do check out the White River valley someday, be sure to video it for me. I could really stand to see that area again. It's been a very long time.
Yeah I have a friend that has a house there off the Yampa river and I love that steamboat area I will be back next year hopefully and will try to get over to those you mentioned
I'll be looking forward to next year, and praying for high water! I have a number of other places I can send you which cover a range of classes, and which are rivers and creeks That not many people go to, Including a great little creek above Marble, Colorado. If that's too insane for you, the same creek below Marble is plenty of fun, but a little easier. the Black Canyon of the Gunnison can be fun if you start below the dams, and if they're letting a lot of water out of the dams. The Taylor river can be fun too, especially the upper Taylor. My grandmother lived in Gunnison, so I know that area pretty well too. Good kayaking. I seem to recall that you're from back east, so you'll have some great kayaking ahead even when you get home. Here's wishing you great flows and lots of fun!
So I bought my first kayak ever and was wondering is it common for the sealed bulkhead to leak on a new boat? I took the first one back got another one and same thing. Thanks
@@WadeHarrison yeah pretty disappointed new wilderness systems pungo 105. First one was resealed and still leaked. Got new boat and this one has a hole in bulkhead bigger than my thumb. Smh I just wish I bought a different brand at this point.
Yeah, I actually did not like the updated version have you see the Liquid Logic Saluda I did a quick walkthrough on one? th-cam.com/video/jsBkU06KOzQ/w-d-xo.html
Yeah I think I have watched every video you have made at this point on kayaking. Knowing what I know now and after recently taking a whitewater kayaking course I wish I would have just gotten a whitewater kayak except no whitewater in Savannah Ga.Thoughts on liquidlogic remix? I noticed on their website that you can get the last few they have left for 899. I thought that was a good price but not sure if it is good for beginner vs these newer kayaks.I've only been in a whitewater kayak once it was a gnarvana at NOC
You Colorado boys have it made. Nonstop white water for miles. Totally awesome.
It's a great trip I have been over there few rimes now their season is very short but the few months its going seems have lots of options.

No if the sealed bulkhead is leaking look for brakes in the sealant can be patched fairly easily with some goop from Walmart Home Depot
