    I worked out from the ingredient list of the kit on the website that it's malted milk powder (Horlicks Original in the UK and easy to get in supermarkets) and therefore not 'malt powder' which is something different (diastatic malt powder used by bakers for bread) so I hope this helps some of the people asking about it.
    The kit ingredients list and method is different from the original recipe video but that video is from 4 years ago and the kit is more recent. Recipes get tweaked over time and both look pretty delicious. 🤤

    I made it yesterday and it was sooo good. I forgot to buy malt powder, so I use Milo instead. My family couldn't stop munching on the toasted cornflakes, so yummy! So I ended up having a thinner layer of caramel cornflake 🤭. I cut the sugar by third and I found the taste is just right for me. I put it on a fridge overnight, the taste & the texture is even better! Thank you Sally, Jemma & all the teams at C&D! I really love your recipes, they are easy to follow and taste incredible! Thanks! ❤️

    There seems to be some confusion throughout the comments on the malt powder - specifically what it is, and where to get it. Some confusion may be based on the products available where you live. I would ask that the Jemma team verify this, but here is my take being in the US - Malt powder is made from wheat flour and another grain, usually barley. On the other hand, malted milk powder is malt powder with milk solids added to it. I believe that the ingredient here is Malted Milk Power (and this is what Horlicks seems to be) . Malt powder can be diastatic or non-diastatic and is used in things like breads or bagels and would not seem to be a good addition to cornflakes as in this recipe. Malted Milk powder is easy to find anywhere (i.e. Carnation in the US) . Malt Powder is more of a specialty baking ingredient or beer making ingredient and is unlikely to be found in grocery stores. I hope this helps.

    Any tips on getting caramel to actually brown up. My caramel is always still pretty pale. Mine bubbles way more than it does on this video too. Any ideas? I'm cooking on a gas hob on lowest setting if that means anything. It takes forever to even get to this stage, and I always give in a bit early as I worry it will go from this to burnt and flavour the caramel.

    Is the malt powder the same as you’d use in milk or the malt flour?

    I'm curious! Two things! You mention "malt" as an ingredient - is that basically malt for brewing, as opposed to the dry malted milk malt? ALSO...what is non-greased paper - would parchment paper work?

      Malted milk powder and yes parchment paper works fine :)

    My love for British baking began precisely on 1 February 2020 when I made my first ever cake. It was a Victoria sandwich. Baking has now grown into a hobby overtaking profession and I make it a practice to bake something every week. I just want to move to London for the bakes, and to work to produce those!!!
    Hi Sally. In spirit of bonfire night this week, whenever you get a chance, please show people like us [in America] your take on the classic Yorkshire parkin using black treacle. Thanks very much indeed and take care.

    I’ve just bought the new book and I’ve noticed that the book doesn’t pre-bake the cornflakes
    AND
    there’s no malt powder in the book recipe.
    Can anyone advise?

    I just made these using the recipe in your new cookbook, but it seems to be different than this recipe. How come in this video you use malted corn flakes but in the new cookbook you use plain corn flakes

    Thanks for the video guys! Just a quick question in the original caramel cornflake brownie video you recommend 118 degrees for the caramel but in this video 110-115. Do they give different textures (is one softer) or are they relatively similar? Thanks! x

    • @mindfulbaking
      @mindfulbaking 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are very similar. (I personally love it a bit more towards 118 as it’s a bit more bitter and intense)

    Thank you so much for reiterating that the caramel is hot!!! When I interned a few months ago, I dipped my finger in caramel, and God has it been one of the worst pains I've felt in my life. I absolutely love their brownie recipes! I've tried the cookie dough one and it is TO DIE FOR. I omitted the oreo in that one but my family and friends still loved it! Can't wait to try this one
