I have had this model for about a year. LOVE it! My daughter saw it for sale on FB Marketplace and we bought it for $400. It had been used for 4 months and the manufacturing date inside the machine coincided with the date the seller told us. My son-in-law installed it for me and had no problems with the installation. This was the first dishwasher he had ever installed, so he got some good practice for installing one in his new home a few months later. It was the exact machine I was planning on buying at Lowes so I felt very blessed to find this FB deal.
Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful. You're going to love your new dishwasher. One thing I forgot to mention in the video but was definitely noteworthy is that the top rack is adjustable to give more headroom for taller glasses or cups or more headroom for large items on the bottom rack. It's been nearly a year now and so far I have no regrets. It's been fantastic.
The Internets oh that’s great to know. Do you think the extended warranty for 150 is worth it? Have you had any issues? Trying to decide if I should purchase it or not.
I purchased it because most of the bad reviews I had seen for this dishwasher were due to the motherboard going bad which is a $400 repair and the warranty covers parts and labor so if anything goes wrong it will be taken care of at no additional cost. Also, if you don't use it they send you a check for 33% of the warranty purchase price once the warranty runs out.
We bought one of these and it will be installed next Thursday. We bought a newly constructed home in a housing tract which came with appliances but did not like the Whirlpool dishwasher which came with it -- too noisy and only few controls -- and that was after owning a Frigidaire dishwasher in the home we sold to buy our current home. We are also going to be getting a Kitchenaid Induction convection double oven soon and that the handles match and that it is so quiet was a real plus in deciding which dishwasher to buy. Our son and daughter-in-law bought a Bosch but I find this is as good quality to me. I like that Kitchenaid is American-made and that helps our country when we buy our own country's products. The only thing I have found I like in our appliance package is our refrigerator. We're replacing the washer and dryer also.
I think you'll be happy with it. I've been really happy with ours. It does a great job. We have a Maytag washer and dryer and we really like them a lot. You should give them a look.
You hit the nail on the head. If it weren't for the LED light that lets you know it's running you really can't tell unless you're right next to it. I love ours. Thanks for watching and commenting!
We went with front controls and pocket handle. no top tray or sprayers for bottles. Prior 1.5 yr old Whirlpool that was fairly similar had the mother board also die. Very pissed. It cleaned very well, but only lasted 1.5 years? But, we went ahead with the Kitchenaide hoping it would be better quality (crossing fingers). Got a 4 yr similar warranty for 150 bucks to make sure we don't go through that again. Hows it been the last couple years? Ours will be installed the 30th.
How does ProDry perform? Can you hear the food grinder kick on at the start? Can a cookie sheet fit in that top 3rd shelf? Didn’t really want a 3rd level but looking at this model vs a GE 695-series to replace a KA KUDS30IVBL0 which is 9 years old and still works ok. Love it actually but handle broke and I saw browning on internal labels when I took the control panel off to fix it, so just doing my research in anticipation!
Pro dry works very well. You can't hear much of anything. It is SUPER quiet. A cookie sheet will fit on the third shelf although I've never washed a cookie sheet on the third shelf so I can't rate performance. I usually fill up the third shelf with my nice knives that I don't want getting knocked around on the other two shelves...plus it's less worry about accidentally getting cut when reaching in loading or unloading.
Thanks for your video, it's very helpful. I just have one question. when you don't use the heated dry feature, does it has a fan blow dry process? or it's just done once it's done washing, and everything come out wet
I use the "extended pro dry" setting. I have no idea if it's a fan or what but as long as as we keep the jetdry bin filled up pretty much everything comes out dry. Only on the very top rack will large flat items like Tupperware lids or sippy cup lids still come out with water pooled on top of them overall I've been very pleased with this dishwasher. Thanks for commenting!
It does a good job. We put the eating end of each utensil up rather than down in the basket and we've never had a problem with the silverware not getting cleaned well.
@@theinternets7516 that's great, since that's a huge concern for our family. Any issues you may find annoying about the machine? May purchase this model this week.
@@williamhickerson4316, we've been really happy with it. There are no glaring flaws that come to mind. We put the dishes in dirty and they come out clean and dry.
It's got some vents on the side of the door near the top but I've never checked to see if I felt air coming out of them during the drying cycle. I haven't had any moisture issues in the cabinet though.
We just bought this dishwasher. It was on sale for $799. Couldn’t pass it up for the price and all the awesome options. Do you still love it? Our dishwasher was 16 years old and didn’t have the filter mechanism. Have you had to change your filter? Or do you clean it very often? Any helpful hints since you’ve owned yours?
The dishwasher has been in for about a year now and is still doing great. We haven't had any issues. As long as we keep the jet dry filled up it's awesome. I haven't checked the filter but we usually rinse our dishes off pretty good before we put them in but I'm glad you mentioned it because I should probably give it a look at this point anyway. Overall, it's been great. I would definitely buy it again, especially at $799.
How often do you have to refill the Rinse Aid dispenser? My Kenmore uses a bottle in 8 washings. What kind of detergent pods? is Cascade Platinum pods, & rinse aid irecommended?
We use the cascade platinum pods and they work very well. We use Jet Dry rinse aid and I don't really know how long it lasts. If it's low I'll fill it and my wife does the same so I've never really kept track of it. I can tell you that we buy the 1L bottles and they last a long time...I'd say at least 6 months if not longer.
Do I really need to order a new power cord? I was thinking I could just take the power cord off the old one a reuse it. Will the old power cord work if it's in good shape? Does this require a proprietary cord?
Gerald Grogan, if you aren't going to hardwire it you should be able to remove the three prong from the old one and connect it to this one. Mine is hardwired in.
The drain hose comes out the back of the dishwasher. I ran it through a hole into the cabinet under the sink and then hooked it up to the drain. Same deal if you have a garbage disposal.
I did some reading on this and saw threads about the moist air discharging within the cabinets but the dry cycle does not discharge inside the cabinet.
Rob Belin I'm remodeling my kitchen and will be having this washer installed next week and my dilemma was whether or not to have an air gap installed. The option was to have it installed directly to disposal but it would not be to (CA) code. After much hemming and hawing and reading I decided to go ahead with doing the air gap install so it's up to code and mitigates any potential risk if something were to occur (and have insurance cover any damage, etc). I found a quality looking one on Amazon Blanco 930-121 Deluxe Air Gap, Satin Nickel Finish www.amazon.com/dp/B000TF996M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_EzadBbS9KF95T
Thanks for posting this review. You may have sold yet another unit due to this video. I have a 13y.o. KitchenAid that does an awesome job of cleaning dirty dishes but the rack system is rusting away. This one has a similar rack and wash arm layout with the bonus of the third rack. What really sold me was how quiet it is in your video. Nice job on continuing to talk while filming so there is reference to the sound. Lot's of other posts are just a video with only the machine noise; you did it right. Thanks! Also, in concurrence and expanding on another post, with some practice you could probably pull off a good Owen Wilson impression, heh-heh.
I noticed you have a kitchen drawer in the corner to the right of the dishwasher. Are you able to open that drawer or does the handle sticking out from the washer get in the way? We have the same arrangement, so I am wondering.
We are able to open it but we do have to be careful to make sure the dishwasher door is not ajar otherwise it will hit the handle. When the dishwasher is securely closed there is probable 3/16" clearance. There is some wiggle room on how far under the counter you can push the unit so just make sure that you test out opening the drawer to be sure you have the clearance you need before you screw in the brackets.
Thanks, it looks like it is going to be super close for us. How far from the wood front of your cabinet does the handle on the dishwasher stick out? I only have 3" of clearance from my drawer, so if the dishwasher handle sticks out more than 3" from its cabinet, my adjacent drawer will hit it.
It's about 3.5" out from the front of the cabinet box. If you don't mind for it to not be flush with the front edge of the counter top overhang you can probably make it work but it sounds like it would be really close even then.
Nice info. I was torn between the Bosch 800 series and the KitchenAid KDTM404EBL (you gotta love their model numbering). We ended up replacing all our appliances from Jenn-Air .. and went all matchy-matchy. Future note .. there was absolutely no reason for whoever installed your dishwasher to use the top brackets, instead they can be installed on the sides and if needed you can remove the rolling wheels for short spaces. We have granite countertops, have to use the side brackets.
The install was done by yours truly and believe it or not it wasn't the first time I've installed a dishwasher. I removed the wheels and had it as low as it would go and still couldn't make it fit. I did attempt to use side brackets first but the way the cabinetry was done it would have been sticking out in front of the cabinets too far. Long story short, we're going to be doing a complete kitchen remodel in the near future and I just wasn't that concerned with putting a couple notches in the counter top. Thanks for comment. I really enjoy hearing people's feedback.
The Internets 2;50 and 6;50 "; vs : to prevent confusion" th-cam.com/video/SypK3tK3zhk/w-d-xo.html Hopefully the comment will help someone else. _Ours included free installation,_ but it's not rocket science...
Thanks for the tip. I imagine that will be helpful for others watching. I did both of those things. The rear wheels are actually sitting in the "plumbing" drawer of my tool box. The way the corner of the cabinet was done it did not allow for a side mount to be done. I know that sounds hard to believe but trust me, I spent a decent bit of time trying to make it work. In our previous house I had installed a samsung with side brackets due to having granite counter tops but the way the cabinets are in the new house it wouldn't work. If I had caught it on a sale that included free installation I would have definitely taken them up on it.
No. I wish it did. Our two year old has opened it a couple times during a cycle. It starts back easily though. You just close the door back a in about 30 seconds it starts back again.
@@theinternets7516 hahaha, oh no. We have a 2½ year old boy and he always pulled the old one open but it had a lock for when it was on. I just bought this model online and am picking it up tomorrow. I guess we can run it at night so he won't open it when it's running.
i came across your vid when looking for an explanation of what the program options mean. you see, i was lucky enough to buy a used kitchenaid dishwasher, which did not come with the operating guide. ive been looking online for the guide with no luck. the kitchenaid site doesnt recognize my model number. hmmmmm....any sugestions?
I would call their customer service line and ask if they can provide you with a link to a PDF version of the manual and if they can't then ask if they will mail you an owners manual. Outside of that I'm not sure.
Thanks, I just bought the same model & felt good about it. I noticed you used a powder dishwashing detergent. Can you use the Finish tablet, likes look a miniature brick.
I would assume that you can. We have switched to using the cascade pods and they are basically they same thing as the finish tablets and they work very well and are so much easier than dealing with a gigantic box of powdered detergent. Thank for watching!
Hi .I am planning to buy this dishwasher.but I couldn't find one hour wash option in this .can you plz tell me how long it takes to finish one cycle. Thanks
maira adnan, I've never time it but I would guess at least 4 hours if not longer. I've never tried to find a faster wash setting because we run it at night so it's never been an issue because it's always clean and dry by morning. The "Express Wash" cycle is the fasted full wash cycle the unit has and it is not as energy efficient but I'm not sure on the run time. My guess is that it is at most it's 2 hours though.
Thank you for this information. My husband and I just bought a house with this model in it and thought there must be something wrong with the unit itself because it was running for so long.
@Okan Korsal, this might be 3 weeks too late but per the instructions for the dishwasher... "Touch and hold HI-TEMP WASH for 3 seconds to turn the audible tones on or off. Only audible tones for confirming keypad touches can be turned on/off. Important audible tones, such as indicating a cycle has been interrupted, cannot be deactivated." Also, it's printed right on the control panel as a quick reminder.
LOL! Yes. My wife and kids were all in bed and I was starting the dishwasher before turning in for the night. I knew I'd be in big trouble if I woke anyone up at midnight making a TH-cam video.
It's the best dishwasher I've ever had. I'm glad I could help. Just the other day my wife was fixing to star a load in ours and she says to no one in particular, "Man, I love this dishwasher.".
Thank you for the review. Is it still performing well ? Any issues? I was reading some reviews stating how you had to wash the dishes thoroughly before putting them in the dishwasher when the using the "Normal" cycle otherwise it would not do a good job of cleaning. Can anyone here comment and share their experience ? Thank you kindly.
It is still doing very well. We do scrape our scraps into the trash and give the plates a rinse with hot water but they definitely haven't been scrubbed prior to putting them in the dishwasher. Overall I've been very happy with it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@kristischales3859, make sure it's making the "clicking" sound that tells you it's latched when you close the detergent reservoir. Try closing it without the pod in it and see if it will start that way. It may be something with the pod not allowing it close well. If that's the case try a different pod or even a different brand. There is also a gasket that seals the detergent reservoir that can sometimes get in the way and prevent it from latching properly. Check that gasket and just readjust it so that it will not be in the way of the reservoir lid latching. We've used cascade the whole time and it's done very well. I hope that helps.
Good day. I know it's been a bit since you've posted this video, but I was wondering approximately how long does the cycle take from wash start to finish of drying. Also, are you still satisfied with the performance? Thanks!!!
The cycle time is long. Probably 4 hours plus for everything to be clean and dried. We're still really happy with it. It does a great job cleaning and is still really really quiet. It's been a good purchase so far. Thanks for watching!
I have this dw. I'm returning it now because it doesn't dry well and it runs forever. Plus I'm not a fan of these new fan dry thingies they are so annoying. I'm thinking to exchange it for whirlpool with heat dry and quicker wash and cabinet dry dishes
The cycles are definitely long. We generally turn ours on before we go to bed or before we leave for work. I have noticed that if we let the drying/rinse aid run out that it doesn't dry well but otherwise I've had no issues with drying as long as we keep that filled. If you aren't using a drying/rinse aid that would probably be worth a shot before you go to the trouble of an uninstall and re-install. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Select the wash settings you want then press and hold the start button for one second and release it. Press and hold the start button again for one second and release it. Close the door. It will start a few seconds after that.
I purchased this unit 6 months ago and the repair service is coming for the third time again next week. Oh and they gave me a convenient window of 8am - 4pm of when they would be there for each visit. So I have to wash dishes by hand again for 2 adults, 2 toddlers, and a baby thereby losing my precious family-time for another 5 days, take a day off of work, lose my income for the day waiting 8 hours for a service man to fail, again, to repair an obvious terminally flawed product for what? There is a flaw in their design. Controls panel is not IP rated for the environment it is in. Any time water, including steam the unit generates by it's nature, comes near the top mount controls it goes on the fritz. It will stop, blink randomly, beep randomly, not let your dishes finish washing, and ruing your day. This time I would love to leave it loaded with dirty dishes and let the serviceman deal with it, but I won't because it isn't his fault of course. Whirlpool and Kitchen Aid should be sending a complete replacement in this scenario and removing and installing at a convenient time for me and my family instead of the poor customer service that I have been offered. It's too bad because the dishwasher is superb when it actually works. I'm waiting for your reply Whirlpool Kitchen Aid...
I wouldn't count on kitchenaid to reply. This review is based on my singular experience with our dishwasher and was not sponsored. I would be surprised if anyone at that company has even watched this video. I hate that you've had such a bad time with it though. As you stated, when it works it's superb. I'm thankful that we haven't had any problems with ours. It's actually the best dishwasher we've ever had but there does seem to be a very small percentage of them that are straight up lemons. I hope they are able to get it fixed for you and if not than I hope they will just give you a new one. Best of luck.
I mainly do it to reduce the risk of the dishwasher drain clogging and to cut down on junk getting caught in the strainer screen. I'm not super meticulous about it but I do scrape the plates over the trash can and if there is something still there that looks like it might cause me a headache later on down the road then I rinse it off.
Ok, so this is at LEAST the THIRD guy I have watched load a dishwasher with dishware that has obviously been pre-rinsed, or even WORSE, pre-WASHED..! WHY?! I have always had a dishwasher since my college fraternity days, right up until now, and I have NEVER had to pre-rinse, let alone pre-wash, my dishes. If I even have to pre-rinse, then I don't need a dishwasher, in my mind! I mean, WTF?! Talk about wasting water and energy....damn! I started out with an old Sears Lady Kenmore portable dishwasher with that famous round upper rack, all the way up to now, with a KitchenAid built-in dishwasher, and I have NEVER had to pre-rinse....I just scrape and load, and everything has always come out spotless. Hell, with my present KitchenAid unit, I can and I DO load casserole dishes with baked-on lasagne al forno; baked-on, then dried-on, tuna casserole, barely even scraping when I'm in a hurry, and everything comes out spotless. Why would you spend the money on a dishwasher that comes equipped with a built-in garbage disposal, and then pre-rinse everything? Insanity! These new detergents are enzyme-based, so you actually NEED to leave food soil on your dishes if you really want them to get their cleanest. Please, people....if you REALLY care about the environment, STOP pre-rinsing and DEFINITELY STOP pre-WASHING! I cook and bake almost every day, so I NEED a dishwasher; in fact, I have 2 full-sized dishwashers as well as a small unit, about the size of a large microwave oven, behind the wet bar in my basement. There aren't enough hours in a day for me as it is, and the LAST thing I have the time OR the patience for is standing at a sinkful of dirty dishes, carefully washing each and every item, each and every fork, knife, and spoon!
I read seven reviews on this exact model number and 6 of them gave it a 1 out of 5. One review the daughter said this model should be called a sanatizer, because it didn't clean the food off dishes, unless they were pre-washed in the sink. They said it was poor engineering design that caused it not to clean the dishes.
We had a Lady Kenmore for 20 years, the portable kind that was a top load you had to bend over to get them out. That was a great machine and could clean the enamel off your teeth, but always gave me back pain loading and unloading.
I rake the left over food into the trash. Sometimes stuff goes into the sink before the dishwasher and gets a bit of a rinse that way but not for the sake of rinsing just because that's where the water runs. I don't go to a lot of trouble to pre-rinse or pre-wash anything. I've been really happy with this unit. Using cascade pods and jet dry with it has been great.
I am writing reviews about this dishwasher anywhere I can. We purchased this model less than a year ago and it has broken down three times already. We are so disappointed. This was a well researches and treasured purchase. I just wanted to warn others before they consider this model. I would avoid it if possible.
What has broken on it and have they honored their warranty? When we bought ours the only (and very few) bad reviews that I saw were people who said the mother board went bad. I bought an extended warranty for this reason but I am happy to report that it's been totally reliable for us.
The problem is that the unit does not turn on. Totally dead as if unplugged. Warranty technician already replaced the control panel. We thought the problem was fixed but then after only a week it died again. He tested our electricity. That was fine.
They honor warranty but each time it dies it takes up to two weeks to get an appointment for repair. Two weeks of hand washing all family dishes by hand during the pandemic. This is not what we thought we were paying for. No more KitchenAid for us after this.
This super duper quite dishwasher stop working recently, the tech came and he replaced main computer, it’s still the same, changed main wash motor still not running, changed drain pump, still the same just brings water in stays quite then drain water out. Piece of garbage dishwasher. You will know when it breaks and when you out of warranty or have no warranty. I hope it will help some ppl as well.
That sucks. I'm sorry to hear that. My first thought would be to disassemble the tub and see if something is stuck or clogged if all of that has been done and it's still malfunctioning. I had a Samsung (which was a great dishwasher) do this a few years ago except it wouldn't drain. It would just fill and then shut off, leaving me to have to drain it with my shop vac. I pulled the whole unit out and disassembled everything and as it turns out the pump impeller had an avocado pit stuck in it. I removed that and it was back to working perfectly.
LOL. No. I have a nasally voice and I was trying to be quite while I was talking so I wouldn't wake up my wife and kids. It was roughly midnight when I filmed this.
Hahahaha!!! Now I understand. Makes sense. I was trying to find out the proper way to load it. My wife and I just had it installed yesterday. We love it but can't seem to find any pictorials on loading dishes etc. any help would be greatly appreciated. P.S.We love how quiet it is.
@@sinatralala, we typically do plates, saucers, bowls, and silverware on the bottom; cups, bowls, and Tupperware on the second rack and then kitchen and steak knives, spatulas, and sippy cup kids on the top rack.
Could you fit a wine bottle on the bottle washer if you adjust the middle rack down?
No.
I just snagged one at Best Buy for under $600. It is really quiet. I'll update my review after I wash a few loads.
That's a hell of a deal!

Did you need to have an air gap installed on to your counters with this dishwasher?
There is no air gap..
thanks!! Where did you hook up the drain to, the garbage disposal?
Wow! :)
Thanks for commenting! I'm glad the video was helpful.
Thanks so much for your help. You saved us a big headache. It would not have fit so we are exchanging it for the model with the recessed handle.
Glad I could help!

Those 3 nozzles on the top rack are bottle wash nozzles, you place baby bottles, sport bottles, etc over them and choose the bottle wash option.
Good to know. Thanks for the info. We've got a little one on the way so they'll definitely be getting used for their intended purpose.

How long does it take to complete wash?
Not 100% sure. We run while we're sleeping. It's a long run cycle though. My guess is 4-5 hours.
@@theinternets7516 thank you🙏
Why didn't you mention the racks are adjustable
I just didn't think about it until the video was already uploaded. That is one of the best features though and definitely worth noting. Good catch.
Does the door lock when it's running?
@@andrewscherbarth4562, we typically start ours right before bed.
i came across your vid when looking for an explanation of what the program options mean. you see, i was lucky enough to buy a used kitchenaid dishwasher, which did not come with the operating guide. ive been looking online for the guide with no luck. the kitchenaid site doesnt recognize my model number. hmmmmm....any sugestions?
I would call their customer service line and ask if they can provide you with a link to a PDF version of the manual and if they can't then ask if they will mail you an owners manual. Outside of that I'm not sure.
We have this model. It is Awesome!
We're still very happy with ours. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you for showing us this dishwasher; helped me decide whether or not to buy.
Thanks for commenting. Glad I could help!
Is there a way to cancel the dish washing cycle once you set and start the cycle?
Gerald Grogan, press and hold the cancel button until it turns back off.
Hi .I am planning to buy this dishwasher.but I couldn't find
one hour wash option in this .can you plz tell me how long it takes to finish one cycle. Thanks
maira adnan, I've never time it but I would guess at least 4 hours if not longer.
Great review. How’s it holding up? I just bought one today.
Thank you! It's still doing great. I'm very happy with it.
The Internets excellent.
Do you know how to enable the chimes?
No clue. I think ours has chimed the whole time without me having to do anything special to get it to do it.
@Okan Korsal, this might be 3 weeks too late but per the instructions for the dishwasher... "Touch and hold HI-TEMP WASH for 3 seconds to turn the audible tones on or off. Only audible tones for confirming keypad touches can be turned on/off. Important audible tones, such as indicating a cycle has been interrupted, cannot be deactivated."
Also, it's printed right on the control panel as a quick reminder.
Is your wife sleeping? Why are u whispering?
LOL! Yes. My wife and kids were all in bed and I was starting the dishwasher before turning in for the night. I knew I'd be in big trouble if I woke anyone up at midnight making a TH-cam video.
By the way I bought this washer after I saw your review,,,,,Love it
It's the best dishwasher I've ever had.
Great, thank you for the response.
I just bought a home with this dishwasher. I put the finish pod in the dispenser and it flashes add soap. Wont start? Any ideas?
@@kristischales3859, make sure it's making the "clicking" sound that tells you it's latched when you close the detergent reservoir. Try closing it without the pod in it and see if it will start that way. It may be something with the pod not allowing it close well. If that's the case try a different pod or even a different brand. There is also a gasket that seals the detergent reservoir that can sometimes get in the way and prevent it from latching properly. Check that gasket and just readjust it so that it will not be in the way of the reservoir lid latching. We've used cascade the whole time and it's done very well. I hope that helps.
Le friand, read the post I just added; this should answer all your questions.
Good day. I know it's been a bit since you've posted this video, but I was wondering approximately how long does the cycle take from wash start to finish of drying. Also, are you still satisfied with the performance? Thanks!!!

Why mine not dry the dishes
We use the extended pro dry. You may want to try that.
Whirlpool is same company, same product
How do u turn it on...
Select the wash settings you want then press and hold the start button for one second and release it. Press and hold the start button again for one second and release it. Close the door. It will start a few seconds after that.
Why my dishwasher is beeping and blinking
Which lights are blinking?
very nice
Thank you!
Dishes look clean... why people keep prerinsing dishes? Its pointless
The Internets Trust me- you need just to scrap big pieces. Good detergent and program with high temperature do the rest.
This what happened to mine
What?
He comes back tomorrow for the 4th time. At this point we really just want it replaced.
They honor warranty but each time it dies it takes up to two weeks to get an appointment for repair. Two weeks of hand washing all family dishes by hand during the pandemic. This is not what we thought we were paying for. No more KitchenAid for us after this.
@@heatherschluper3372, I think you're right. At this point they should replace it.
