    Really well done review. I've owned this dishwasher for two months and love it. I especially love that third rack on top! I can't believe how much more I can load in this machine because some of the smaller, tricky items go into that top rack. Thank you for a nicely done and informative review.

      We replaced our 15 yr old Thermador wash w/this one and love that 3rd rack. We didn't go w/a Bosch because of the size or their 3rd rack. It's amazing how much this machine will hold.

      @@gochefgo Here is something that the Manual omits and caused frustration. Dishwasher Rinse to be viewed in small glass window as FULL...... MUST BE COLORED LIQUID BLUE...... I had an eco friendly clear rinse and it was absolutely useless to see how full my rinse container was. I had to GO BLUE, but then again I am a Michigan Wolverine LOL. A small detail but necessary. I wasted my money on the clear liquid.

    I have now had this dishwasher about a month. I absolutely love it. I particularly like the top rack for mugs, glasses and knives. If you look at the top rack at an angle you see the pictures of a mug and a glass engraved into the top rack. This third rack makes this dishwasher seem so huge. When I first got it I couldn’t figure out which was the best washing method so I had to download the manual. All good now. Lastly, I haven’t figured out what you mean about the dishwashing rinse aid area having a light to indicate when it needs to be refilled? Thanks for all your reviews.

    Great review! I just got a 2020 Maytag front control, very sharp machine and Whirlpool did a good job with it, this is a more refined model which retained the 2015-2020 wash system design with the 1/3 horse motor which is the biggest on market as far as I know, those older Whirlpool powercleans had that type of motor and I wouldn’t expect it in something brand new, due to its power it runs all wash arms simultaneously like good old dishwashers do, these brand new ones don’t do that anymore so shame on Whirlpool for that because this isn’t the first time they’ve done that. They need to put bigger motors in like they were before, but I love this Kitchenaid model still it’s beautiful! I just don’t like how the alternate wash arm system takes longer and has less power. Still a good machine though, I just prefer the beefier machines as I’m old school.

    I have owned this exact dishwasher for 8 months now and its awesome. Best dishwasher I have ever owned. I love the top 3rd shelf, and the large silverware basket, that keeps tiny things from flying around. I have a bad back and I remove the silverware basket, fill it and place it back in place in bottom. Same with emptying it. Glassware comes out crystal clear, no fogging, no drop marks, no sitting water on glass bottoms. Even burned on food comes off well. We are so glad we spent the extra money as it is worth every penny. Pretty and very quiet too.

    I have this exact dishwasher but with the front-mounted control panel (excluding the dish towel bar). Using this machine is a hit or miss. They claim no pre-scrubbing, but that's a load of crap when it comes to deep pots. You are definitely going to be doing some type of pre-rinsing or scrubbing when it comes to deep cookware.

    Because of the chip shortage, I thought I was going to need a new dishwasher...and yup, Kitchen Aid was my choice. I laughed with the store clerk about 'gads the only thing this does not have is a window in the door for my nephew to watch the water.'...She said, "They just brought out one with a light inside and a window in the door." OMG...No, I did not get it. I was saved by the proverbial 'bell.' My repairman found what was needed and my current machine works fine. When it does go to dishwasher heaven, it will probably be a Kitchen Aid. I can see why you like them.

    I've been in the appliance repair business for 30 years. Someday, in the not too distant future, you will have a repairman standing in your kitchen explaining to you that the motor is shot & it will be $450 to repair. I have lost count of how many of these I've seen fail in less than 3 years & it pisses me off! I would not recommend a KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Maytag or Kenmore made by Whirlpool to anyone. It is job security for me though - Lol! I should send them a thank you card! I hate seeing people's hard earned money taken by large corporations. At one time KitchenAid was the absolute best dishwasher on the planet, not anymore.

    Years ago, I had a Kitchenaid portable dishwasher in my rented accommodation. It was amazing. When it finally reached it's "end of life", I went with Whirlpool portables 'cause the Kitchenaid brand no longer made portables. The Whirlpool portable served me well for over 10 years. I recently moved into an apartment and the place comes equipped with a Samsung built in dishwasher. I absolutely hate the Samsung. It is hard to load large objects and the way the "tines" (don't know what to call them) are set up results in limited capacity if you need to load large bowls. Also, the darn thing doesn't dry the dishes very well even if you use a rinse aid. If I had the choice, I would always go with a Whirlpool for a portable (GE makes portables, but I don't like them) or a Kitchenaid for a built-in.

    • @erossinema8797
      @erossinema8797 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Collen wait at least 35min after the machine is done and use the the high-heat setting. That should give you satisfactory drying. For me the drying doesn't matter because the way auto-dishwashers are made today, none of them finish rinse the dishes well. I always run a second rinse and open the door manually to let the humidity out for good drying.

    • @colleenbeamer6403
      @colleenbeamer6403 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@erossinema8797 Thanks for the input, but drying isn't the only issue. I hate the way the Samsung loads. My portable Whirlpool held more than this stupid machine and nothing will convince me it's a good model.

    • @erossinema8797
      @erossinema8797 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@colleenbeamer6403 We have a Samsung DW80R7060UG and love it. Your complaint about loading is interesting, because I didn't notice any specialized racks on the bottom like many Bosch's have to specifically fit cereal bowls, little plates and what not. Samsung racks are more designed like what you would see in Whirlpool dishwashers (a plain grid) To each his own. It's difficult to please everyone.
      I will never buy another Bosch after the horrors we dealt with the one we had (Bosch SHE55M12UC) The factory installed instrument panel cover kept popping off after 2 years , and they claimed it was cosmetic and not a big deal. Really Bosch?
      My Mom has a KitchenAid (2017 model) and she absolutely loves it. You might find it interesting to know that KitchenAids are now made by Whirlpool, not Hobart like they were in the 1970s an d 1980s

    • @colleenbeamer6403
      @colleenbeamer6403 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@erossinema8797 You're right - to each his own! It could be the difference in models. I have stainless steel pots and pans and I find loading the bigger stuff difficult. Also, the top shelf doesn't have a lot of capacity for the stuff I like to put there. (I'm not talking about the third tray that is for really small stuff). I could load way more stuff with ease in my old Whirlpool portable. Like you with Bosch, I would never purchase a Samsung dishwasher again. I have a Samsung TV - they are great with that type of electronics, but I wouldn't purchase any of their appliances. That's me, however. One bad experience with a product line would put me off forever.

    Great thorough review I'm looking at this model and the 204KPS. I've read some complaints that the Tines don't stay in position they fall down during a wash is this true? Also some have complained that with the deep third rack it's hard to fit stuff in the middle and bottom rack... is that a big issue? I've been considering the 204KPS for that reason since it has more of a flatter 3rd rack. Do you happen to know if the KitchenAide line 204KPS, 404KPS, 604KPS, etc. all have the same build quality the only differences being features? Thanks!

After 1 month without a dishwasher and trying to find one we could actually get we went with Kitchen Aid, mine is model # KDTM404KPS, I've only had it for 4 days but so far I'm liking it - my only complaint is I wish it had a timer. Do you know what the slot is above the handle? We bought ours from Costco and the installer said not to use pods because the plastic doesn't break down all the way and it can clog the pump, he said Finish makes them without the plastic and can be found at Ollie's for around $7 for 150.

    I just bought this model, I'm excited waiting for it to be delivered in a few days! Who knew a dishwasher could make me so happy Lol! I'm wondering on a regular day what setting you put it on? And if you've noticed one dishwashing pod better than another? My old Whirlpool did best with the Platinum Cascade pods. I'd also like to replace my kitchen faucet at the same time with the pull down version but I'm not sure which one... I'll check out your videos to see if you cover those. Thanks for sharing!

      the dishwasher is great mine is about four months old and goes every night the pods are better than the powders. powders and some liquids will do a sandpaper effect on your dishes scratch glasses and sand off the finish on your pots and pans even pots and pans that's say dishwasher safe will get sandpaper by the crystals in the powder and damage your dishes and nonstick cookware i have the exact same model that he's talking about and the pods work great

      @@richardtharp8398 So I've been using this Kitchen Aid (Cadillac of dishwashers) for months now and I'm not amazed... The silverware which I stick into each individual slot on the bottom always seems to have a dull sheen, nothing is ever shiny. The dishes get clean but I'm always overlooking small problems. I want to believe it has to do with the rinse aid, but after trying different brands it's not changing. I hate to feel like I threw away 1k on a dishwasher. I plan to change out my fridge soon and while I'd love to have a matching brand, I'm sceptical... Is there something I'm doing wrong? I use Cascade platinum pods, several rinse aids, I run on Pro wash every few days (sometimes half a load), heat dry, and rinse dishes before loading. Thanks for sharing, most people I know told me not to get this dishwasher so I have no one to ask?!

      It also depends on how hot your water is going into it if you're waiting for hours after you load it started depending on how far from your water heater it is it may not be getting hot enough water what you can do to substitute for this is used to high temperature wash and the sanitary rents cycle this may solve your problem I run into the same problem if I didn't run my tap water and let it get hot or if I started at night it takes a while for the water to get from the heater to the sink and it was causing my dishes to look dull and dingy once I started using the high temperature wash and rinse it solved the problem try that

    Where did you find these fans in the bottom and a blower? I really want to know because I have totally rebuilt dozens of these and have yet to come across them. Also I am sure the engineer that designed it would like to know as well since they don't show up on any of the service books for it!
    The only fan whirlpool does use on some few models is a really small 1 to 2 inch square module in the door at the vent.
    Ps did you know kitchen aid is just a cosmetically enhanced whirlpool?

    2 huge elephants in the room in this video are that
    1. In the Kitchenaid, food is constantly getting stuck in the water jet systems and the water pressure is weak (adding to the quietness of the machine). Not only do you have to thoroughly clean the dishes before you use the Kitchenaid, you have to remove the arms and physically clean them out after each wash (this is after having thoroughly cleaned the dishes, which is a huge pain and time consumer. Notice how he didn't show any dirty plates being loaded and cleaned? Cleaning the bottom arms are a pain but they do at least remove from the central turner. The top arms are all part of one piece. It's a crap shoot whether or not the food will come out of those. We didn't have the 3rd wrack system, so we had to use the basket for tableware. Our normal sized knives would block the arms from turning, so we had to load all of them on the far end of the basket.
    2. It vents on the side and will warp and destroy your cabinets, which it has done to ours. Still trying to figure out how to proceed with this one.
    We now have a Siemens (fyi, Bosch, Siemens and Constructa are all the exact same machines, just with different branding) and this machine is a workhorse and does the job. We never have a problem with food getting stuck in the jets and the clearance is not a problem for normal size table ware. It also vents through the top. The Kitchenaid is quiet, much quieter than our Siemens and that's the only thing it's got going for it. Don't buy the Kitchenaid. It's a joke.

    • @erossinema8797
      @erossinema8797 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I really don't believe you have to thoroughly clean the dishes before you load them in there. That really sounds ridiculous. Did you read the instruction booklet?
      My stepmom has a 2020 KitchenAid dishwasher (made by Whirlpool). IT did seem like it was cleaning less well than expected until I found out they were using what was the equivalent to the light wash cycle. . IT has the four point spray arm and cleans well, despite it's weak water pressure.
      On my Samsung DW80R7060UG, a fan comes on that sounds like a vent fan. They aren't vent fans.. Those fans are to cool the electronics and keep them dry.
      Thermador and Gaggenau are also Bosch. Believe it or not, some Kenmores are actually Bosch.
      Unfortunately I had a very bad experience with Bosch SHE55M12UC and will never buy that brand again. I am very happy with my Samsung DW80R7060UG

    • @benjaminhatcher6755
      @benjaminhatcher6755 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn’t vent on the side! That “vent” is just to cool the electronic components. Sounds like your issues are a lack of user knowledge.
      This dishwasher is a workhorse and never once an issue of any kind! We don’t pre-rinse and everything comes out sparkling clean!
