This song is just special, it deserves many different versions, I've been a fan of RDR and to hear it getting a new track from D'angelo's himself just make me shiver timbers.
I'm with you on not liking when a song is changed up for a live performance but I agree this is an amazing rendition of this song! Some songs sound good no matter what.
This song really just…you knew what was coming was going to be the Fall of the gang. You just knew something wasn’t right with how awful Arthur looked after Guarma. I remember that pit in my stomach that told me something about this game was going to be gut wrenching. I just never imagined it would leave me broken in spirit for a solid week, and I couldn’t touch it after chapter 6 for that whole time. This song is as beautiful as it is foreboding. It’s as powerful as it is poetic. And forgive me, D’Angelo, but it leaves me shaken. 👏🏼 ❤️ 🔥 Rockstar & D’Angelo
There's something alien about the epilogue. Like "This isn't my skin. This isn't who I'm supposed to be." Arthur's going to stick with me for a long time. Rockstar created a magnum opus.
Me too ! Like you read my mind ! It still hits me that Arthur had to die beautiful story nonetheless. Heard Rockstar is in works on a third one id definitely put my money on this instead of GTA 6
The song while riding home made me feel like a wounded soldier refusing to fall. Unshaken. Untamed. Unafraid. It’s like Arthur saying, “Come at me”. That’s how I could describe it.
Now, seeing D’Angelo and Daniel Lanois do this live together would be a dream. You won’t get this kind of singing anywhere on youtube covers, its disappointing.
Red dead Redemption 2 was the most exciting game I've ever played in my life... the story of the game moves us absurdly. I almost cried with Arthur's death.
very grateful I finally played rdr2 & got to experience hearing this song for the first time on the ride back to the camp. This song will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you very much❤
When Arthur died I was happy I got to play as John but the second time around I cried my eyes out actually getting in depth, not skipping cutscenes, high honor, side missions etc. John is my favourite character but he didn’t leave me heartbroken
Crazy to me he'd do such a casual concert, dude is incredibly underrated and talented artist. I'd be fucking buzzed to see him period, but I'd lose my shit if he played this too lol.
This is wat I was looking for if not a real video because this is a good song and tbh I didn't even know it was D'Angelo singing it it's a good thing for him to try please give us a video of this with cuts from the game but left put D'Angelo in the game so to speak like he is a traveler just passing by
listening and watching that background reminded me of being in Colter. Nobody is in the scene but you just know Arthur is somewhere out there. Or John. RDR2 IS the only game that ever consumed me. As if it were an alternate world that i had another life in while i played due to the extreme detail and responsibilities. NEVER have i ever experienced that. Soon as i heard the song i looked it up n was shocked @ who sang it. Rock Star has GIANT shoes to fill with RDR3. Shoes that can easily be scuffed.
Riding home from Guarma with this playing was quite possibly the most badass I’ve ever felt in a video game.
Yeah, just to find out that everything is doomed and your new home eventually will be a cave.
He doesn’t ride home to this song

RDR2 wasn’t a game, it was an experience. This was the perfect song from a perfect artist.✊🏾
This song changed my life since RDR2 🙏🏾 💯 to know D'Angelo actually played the game in beta and wrote this. Wow. 🤯
How do you know he played a beta version? Did he talk about it somewhere?
@@cjware316 it was in a Rolling Stone article I believe. And my friends play keys and it's the lead producer on Black Messiah album.
RIP to Arthur Morgan
Damn, usually I don't like how artists change up the song for a live performance but this rendition is amazing!
This song is just special, it deserves many different versions, I've been a fan of RDR and to hear it getting a new track from D'angelo's himself just make me shiver timbers.
Hes up there with the snow background and the full RDR fit on too, a real fan

👏🏼 ❤️ 🔥 Rockstar & D’Angelo
Its been 2 days and still I'm heartbroken and mourning the ending... I never felt like this in my life... Not even after jack dies In Titanic.
Well said
@@thooit_studios fr I felt like shit after that ending. Couldn't stop thinking about it for a few weeks.
@@R_JT69i can relate to you bro... only other time i felt like this was when i went through tht first week of Break up...

Guitarist got a sick tone
That’s Jesse Johnson.. excellent guitarist
every time I hear anything new by d'Angelo, I'm left wanting more... This is like a gunslinger/gospel-sounding song. Magical as always .
This is what I call brown liquor music. Put this up there with Anthony Hamilton's Charlene.
I saw a movie today on Netflix " The harder they fall" had to play RDR2 all over again after that, songs like this makes it the best video EVER!!
Me too ! Like you read my mind ! It still hits me that Arthur had to die beautiful story nonetheless.
Heard Rockstar is in works on a third one id definitely put my money on this instead of GTA 6
SAME!!!!!
This song… is about our lives, through Morgan’s story. Thank you for this perfomance🙏 D’angelo is great.
The moment music, games and real life become one.
The song while riding home made me feel like a wounded soldier refusing to fall. Unshaken. Untamed. Unafraid. It’s like Arthur saying, “Come at me”. That’s how I could describe it.
You are one of many who thinks this is playing while riding home it’s hilarious 😂
Yes!! Yes yes yes!!! I couldn't word it but that's exactly what I felt like
THAT GUY ON THE GUITAR IS EVERYTHING, D'ANGELOS VOICE IS SOULFUL AND HAUNTING!!! THIS SONG IS A MASTERPIECE!! 🔥🔥
Man what a voice. This song seeps into the skin, bones and soul
Such an underrated talent... sings, writes and plays multiple instruments. One of my favorites 👏

Here before this gets to a million! Shout out to RDR2. I can’t stop listening to this song.
That guitar 🎸 is awesome 👏. His voice is so beautiful. He has a hint of cowboy and a strong preachers voice.👏
Now, seeing D’Angelo and Daniel Lanois do this live together would be a dream. You won’t get this kind of singing anywhere on youtube covers, its disappointing.
I close my eyes when listening to this song, and i can clearly see flashbacks of the best character ever, Mr. Morgan
Red dead Redemption 2 was the most exciting game I've ever played in my life... the story of the game moves us absurdly. I almost cried with Arthur's death.
I teared up as a 38 year old man who has seen much death. What a moment
D got so much drip its incredible
This was a blessing to hear this live. Thank you for posting. D'Angelo fan⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I stopped the horse and kept on looking at the lake and listening to the song, a true piece of art

D'Angelo and RDR, the combination I didn't know I needed.
I love this song... R.I.P author Morgan 🙏🙏
RIP videogame character, lmao.

I never knew this was D'Angelo I always wondered what happened to him,so underrated.
Masterpiece. Thanks D'Angelo and Rockstar.
Love this song
Thank you 🙏
Wait! This is D’Angelo from the 90s? This song is so deeply soulful.
yes same D’Angelo who brought you Untitled (How does it feel ) and the Album Black Messiah
Oh my heart 💔
Incredible!
D angelo is the Goat Period
Rdr2 definitely changed what it means to make music for a video game. I listen to the soundtrack in the car
RDR2.💗

Greatest Song of all times. Thanks Rockstar to make this true. Masterpiece !
The real version. Finally.
When your life has a meaning your not afraid of death.

I got to the "ride home" scene last night in rdd2...that's why I'm here👌👌
This isn’t what plays on the ride home you are slow
Damn O’Driscoll’s
there's a D'Angelo in all of us
Arthur feelings 😭💔
Arthur Morgan!
That drummer in the back is Niko Belic
So this song introduced me to Neo Soul genre
When he started to singing i hit the like button.
This hit me different after rdr2
Arthur's ending with the reprise of this song hit like a truck.
Is this the same D'Angelo that loved showing his V back in the day??
BRIAN BLADE ON DRUMS FOR D'ANGELO???
I’d give a limb to see him play this live front row

I love the fandom crossover of gamers and music lovers in this here comment section.
We need a D’Angelo RDR2 playthrough.
The ingame version is much better than the version on the apps!
Arthur Morgan😢
wish you could unlock this outfit in red dead

Seeing RDR2 in the background. MAD RESPECT.
who is the guitarist
Jesse Johnson
Has anyone else gone into lawless Vanhorn, got behind and under the bar and blown everyones head off and lit it on fire or am i just alone on this??..
Why is he cosplaying as Mika?
I'm not a fan of D'Angelo in any way, but his voice in this song is second to nothing.
Sounds like you’re a fan in at least one way lol
Lova that guitar riff intro kinda like Jimi Hendrix or Eddie Hazel. Arthur Morgan would be proud of this song
Narcissist
I glad to see DAngelo and the vanguard back together go Jesse much love to everyone
