Yes, and the average Syrian makes less than 100 USD a month..
Yes. So for those who work in the US and want to travel abroad while spending the least amount of money, this is a good destination. I'm in the philippines, where you can get your teeth whitened for around $100. Next time I come back, I'm trying their lasik, which is far less than in the US. I work with guys who have a lot done outside the country just to save money. Money guy, flew to Colombia, got lasik, stayed a few days, came back for less than what it would cost here in the US.
I imagine/wonder what a euro could get
Yes. And eating like that every day would cost very little of what you had... but it would put you in the grave within a year due to lack of proper nutrition; a condition we refer to as malnutrition. It's all sugar, starches, and a very little bit of fat. There's a complete lack of protein in everything you ate. Tell us how much it would cost to properly feed someone for the afternoon.

MY COUNTRY YAYYY im so proud that tourists come and explore Damascus, if u ever get to visit again i recommend visiting the traditional cafés and even the bars and restaurants. I also recommend u visit the opera house and the museum of Damascus. And side note, NEVER give money to the street boys trying to sell tissues or flowers of things of such, they onky want to rip you off all ur money specially knowing that you are a foreigner, and if the cling on u or grab you or pull u have all the right to push them away or ask for someone to tell the kids to leave you alone. I hope u enjoy ur travels! ❤
I lived in Damascus for 5-6 months and I don’t remember the cost but I feel we were getting ripped off because my father used to give us $100 to get exchanged and we played pool, eat,etc and it was gone within days

Agreed! I had the pleasure of having Syrian made falafel while in Turkey..best thing I’ve had in my life
The oldest baklava recipe is from Syria. I find it funny how Turks and Greeks like to claim it. Smh

It is a communist country with controlled price. I would guess they consider plastic bottle water a luxury with higher price
The pizza bread (manakish?) is just a snack... it would probably be the same here in Germany

The average salaries in Syria can vary significantly based on the sector, location, and experience. Generally, salaries in Syria are low compared to global standards.
As of 2023, the average monthly salary in Syria is estimated to be around 100,000 to 150,000 Syrian pounds (approximately 40 to 60 US dollars at the parallel exchange rate). This figure can vary widely between the public and private sectors, and between major cities like Damascus and Aleppo and rural areas.
