Really appreciated Rosemary's observations about both Europeans' reluctance to splash jank into their teams - the centralization of their meta - and the interesting brings we saw regardless of that. I respect the specs over bright powder. Feels less degenerate then I saw sheer cold. Also side note Aaron Zeng did a road to ranked with the team so his input on the team is off of first hand experience for those who didn't know.

So glad that the one match that Articuno's RNG shenanigans could've mattered, it didn't. Imagine if it won by getting a freeze or a Snow Cloak miss, there would be so many doubters against Articuno
Like a week before this event I was working on a core that involved Speed Booster Energy Iron Treads Volt Switching into Weakness Policy Articuno and switching in Alolan Ninetales for snow. +2 Sp.Atk and +50% def from snow seems like a good trade off for 16-19% HP. After Articuno won an event I went and put this team into action ingame but the downfall was waiting a turn to get Aurora Veil up and Ninetales being an easy target for that turn. Ended up being a hat on hat situation
That's why you get support for checking Ninetails counters. But remember Ninetails just by the fact that it brings snow it already receives the snow defend boost so that is why it's really good
I mean idk how nobody seen this coming when 5 out of 6 mons are all weak to ice typing and a lot of ice types have natural bulk allowing them to at least tank most 1hko moves for most mons in the format okidogi runs ice punch and bulk up and can sweep up most teams being as how the most used special attackers are flutter raging bolt Glimmora and the rest are physical attackers which is why Magmar has such high value at the moment but sun teams will be the meta for next regulation
Fairy sand could be an interesting place to take the meta with sand having a good matchup against things like raging bolt, fire ogerpon and flutter, I think a team like exca, tyranitar, flutter, volcarona, amoongus, hisuian arcane could be a killer combo with either offensive or hybrid flutter or even go crazy with air balloon flutter
best Counter to that Team is some sort of Tailwind Talonflame with Gale Wings, Tailwind, Taunt, Will-O-Wisp and a Metagross epuipped with Heavy Slam, Psychic Fangs to get rid of that annoying Veil. Add Overquil to that core, Add Specs Primarene and U have a very solid Team. And because u are a champion, u add Umbreon to it.
A Talon, metagross, overqwil, primarina team would get absolutely obliterated by any other team in the current meta though. Sure, you can stop articuno, but what about the other 20 or so teams that aren’t running it
Im not trying to be that guy and im sure this been said a million times already but we need new age tourneys with first gen type matchups with special allegations that equalize types created after gen 1 and categorize them into type matchups that suit the pokemon
I don't understand why Articuno win seems so unpredicted lol 😂 it seems like a standout choice among all of the stupid buffs nerfs and edits...flying/ice seems godlike to me ...but I'm also oldschool.... I fully back normals being completely susceptible to ghost without effect ....just saying

James's analysis is quite accurate since I also felt in my experience Raging Bolt with Electroweb is something really strong
