  • Welcome to Cookie's Critters.
    In todays video we demonstrate how to prevent mites in your reptiles. It is important to have thorough reptile quarantine procedures in place to ensure that you don't bring home mites, bacteria and viruses from other reptile collections.
    Treating any loose substrate that you bring into your home is another way of preventing an outbreak of mites in your reptile collection. It is important to do this at least 4-5 days before you intend on using the substrate so that you kill the mites at different stages of their life cycle.
    Finally, wiping down your reptiles is critical in prevention of mites. We recommend "FrontLine" for cats and dogs. Spray directly onto a piece of paper towel and wipe the reptile from the base of the head down, do not wipe on the face.
    We are reptile breeders in Western Sydney and this channel is to educate our customers and followers. The reptiles that we breed are Central Bearded Dragons, Pygmy Bearded dragons, Knob tail geckos, and Northern Velvet Geckos.
    In the future our expansion will include Blue tongue skink morphs, carpet pythons and green tree pythons.

      Thanks mate. We do this multiple times a year for various reasons. Pre brumation, substrate changes, quarantine and breeding. It’s so much easier than dealing with a biblical level plague. 😂

      @CookiesCritters  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can use MacMite. We just prefer callington enclosure spray for the substrate.

    do you need to do this with sand?

    • @JD-Defenders
      @JD-Defenders 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sand is a very bad substrate to use because it can cause impactions, so now would be a great time to switch to something else. You might want to consider a bioactive setup.
