At the first temple the cherry blossom is actually bougainvillea which you see all over Thailand. There is a custom at that giant Buddha, you stand with your back to it and throw a baht coin over your shoulder & try to get it to land in his upturned hand. I failed many times. And the bells by the walls surrounding the Buddha are actually made from WW2 shell casings, from the time of the Japanese occupation. I love Mae Sariang because it is so sleepy & yes that chicken place was closed the first time I tried to go there, but found a lovely small wooden built hotel & restaurant called Riverhouse.
Thank you for the correction, and also the information! Those are massive shell casings indeed. We did revisit that little restaurant on a different day, and it was delicious!
Just noticed this now after watching following you guys for a few weeks. Most travel vloggers out there with their Canon m50s, gimbals, drones, and GoPros and you guys out there doing everything with smartphones. Mad respect. Not sure until when you guys will be in Thailand but hope we bump into each other when I get there this July. Safe travels!
Thank you for that! It certainly keeps us from having really good picture quality but we’re satisfied with what we have. Would be lovely to cross paths, not sure where we will be in July though. Happy travels to you as well!
The sun set screen was really nice. It warmed my heart for the Valentine’s Day. It’s really nice for the ending. Thanks for making this lovely vlog. Happy Valentine’s Day/Week to you.
If you like Tom Yum and can not take to much spicy .In Thailand we have a Thai Omelette (kài jiieow) to go with Tom Yum soup and rice.Take some of THai Omelette on the rice then a spoon of Tom Yum soup on top. It will help you to take spicy Tom Yum.A happy Valentine's Day to both of you.
I'm Thai..I like your video. Both of you are funny and happiness ..And I have additional information for you . 1. when you saw the pink flower that you said it is cherry blossom. I can tell you that it is not cherry blossom but it is fueng fah เฟืองฟ้า in thai.( paper flower or bougainvillea ) . 2. when you see many small animal statues around pra that ( jedi ) พระธาตุ . They are 12 zodiac years of birth such as 1. rat 2. cow 3.tiger 4.rabbit 5. dragon 6.snake 7.horse 8.goat 9.monkey 10.chicken 11.dog 12.pig . In Thailand and China ,we have zodiac year of birth .This year is Tiger zodiac year .
Good get our of jail card with food is "Khao pat gai" which is chicken fried rice. Got me out of a bind many times when off piste in Thailand. If you're feeling adventurous "Khao pat gai kai dow" gets you a fried egg on top 🤤
You two are so lovely. If you have anytime, pls. visit Chaeng rai province near Chaeng Mai or visit Kanchanaburi in the western of Thailand by train about 80 km from BKK. ครับ
I stumbled across your Chanel looking up travel in Thailand, and I have watched hours of your many video posts …. I have never been to Thailand and I have been amazed by what you two get up to…. You are so having the Best Time Ever🙂👍 and I noticed your filming it all on your phone, may I ask what program you editing the footage with? I look forward to going to Thailand in the very near future….. Safe Travel to you both, and thank you for sharing your amazing adventures with us 🦘🇦🇺🦘🇦🇺🙂
Ah we hadn’t heard of them but looked them up when you mentioned them. It’s a shame they broke up, but it seems like they did what was best for both of them. For what it’s worth, we are very happy together 😊😅
All the temples in the North don't have Chinese influence at all as the people up there did not have a chance to interact with Chinese traders/migrants like those in Bangkok, the East and South. You see mystical Singha, Naga (serpent) based on Indian influence and local myths. In Bangkok and the central plain, Yaksa (giant) and Singha guarding the temple's entrance while in the North (Lanna, litterally million paddy fields) the temples are guarded by a couple of Naga (mystical serpent who live underworld and have supernatural power including ability to transform into human when travelling above ground). The dish you order is the famous Thai Tom Yam Kung (shrimp) which is a little spicy and sour suitable for Westerner's taste. You can order Tom Yam Kung Nam Sai (clear broth) or the usual Nam Khon (heavy/red broth), the former is less spicy. Thailand is so synonymous with Tom Yam Kung that when the Asian financial crisis first originated in Thailand in 1997 and spread to S. Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Philippines etc, it was called Tom Yam Kung crisis. It was engineered by American foreign exchange manipulator George Soros who bet against pegged Thai baht and when the Bank of Thailand had no more dollars to support the baht, the Thai govt decided to float the baht and thus immediately the Baht currency plunged as much as 100% in a few months from 25 baht/dollar to 50 baht/dollar, precipitating financial crisis in this country as a lot of businesses borrowed heavily overseas denominated in dollar. The country decided to seek IMF loan in 1998 to shore up the country's reserve. The crisis lasted about 5 years before Thailand could pay off all IMF loans. A lot of businesses and people suffered and some even committed suicide due to losses from business failures and SET index plunging from 1700+ to less than 300 in one year! After 24 years, the SET index now climbs back above 1700.
It is sad that we live in a world where a foreign businessman can manipulate an entire country’s economy. As always, thank you for the historical context.
I'll tell you about my experience of booking me in Pai. I met friends and people. I made new friends. and meet friends in every country
Thai people have a tradition to pay homage to 9 temples. I think you have gone to more than 9 temples. This year you will be very lucky.
I like that! We have indeed been to many temples during our time here 😊
Every single one of those temples had a gorgeous view 😍 We could just sit up there and look and read for hours… how awesome!!!! ❤️
Oooh just chilling and reading up at one of them is a good idea 😊

Hi guys. Have you any plans to visit Nan Province and town?
We would like to, but no concrete plans as of yet.
Cutest couple.
I've been to Thailand and Vietnam, the food portions are small. But, it could be that our portions here in the United States are really big. ;-)
This is certainly the case. America has huge portions 😂
Again a nice video you two remind me of jack and gab when they were touring Thailand . Although I hope you have the opposite ending to your trip .
Ah we hadn’t heard of them but looked them up when you mentioned them. It’s a shame they broke up, but it seems like they did what was best for both of them.

Chieng Mai was longer under the Burmese. So the art and architecture is more likely to Burmese style.

@@OnePackWanderers nope, you video came out in time just as i was about to reach for the fly swatter. The flies are safe.

You guys was so lucky compare to now we have a lot of tourists now.
I don't think we realized how lucky we were at the time. Traveling in 2020 & early 2021 was magical.
