    Illinois has a Good Samaritan law. When my wife recently crashed her bike, one of the first people to stop and help ,was a RN. Benefit of living in a medical community.

    People always told me that too when I rode motorcycles for 45 years. I'm 67 now and gave up motorcycles for ebikes. In that 45 years I have fallen Zero times. I know I'm extremely lucky in that respect. I've been riding ebikes now for about 4 years and so far no falls. When it comes to carrying groceries home on my ebike I told my wife I draw the line at a bunch of bananas. Chips cookies eggs are OK but No Watermelon! It's like putting a small boulder on your bike that round and moves around alot. Glad your ok and you saved the bike. I do the magic marker trick too lol.

    It’s been said Chicago has been called “the Windy City” due to blustering politicians. It’s windy here for a different reason. I got wind in my eyes on a ride a month ago. I couldn’t see where I was going, and nearly wiped out trying to avoid leaving the paved trail and into the rough. I hit the bell instead of the brake and in slowing down the bike with my feet, a pedal smashed into the back of my leg. I still have a bruise on the back of my calf. Ordinarily, I enjoy the lower center of gravity of an e-bike frame. I can imagine the problems of top heavy cargo.

    It does seem that most accidents with ebikes occurs when the bike is stationary. Funny but true.

    When jumping off a step-thru you need to keep the downtube between your knees. Having 2 step-thru I've been adept at getting off and catching the downtube to keep the bike upright. You need to worry about yourself rather than the bike. These heavy bikes can hurt you. Take care of yourself!

    In my state of Oregon Stop sign means yield for bikes/e-bikes. I usually come to complete stops on my videos do to viewers saying HEY you did not stop. Great ride video Russ!

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Perhaps you could put a graphic up at the very beginning of all your videos to let people know that your state allows for the rolling stop. Then you can do it as a yield sign and not worry about their comments.

    • @oregonebikermark8953
      @oregonebikermark8953 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@RussIsRight Hey, that's a great idea. I've done a few videos pointing out the reason why i don't come to a complete stop but i guess you always have new viewers that likely didn't see the videos.

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I do the graphic for my affiliate links announcement on every video. Saves me from having to say it in person and then I don’t miss anything either. For you, just a simple thing that says Oregon allows stop signs to be treated as yield signs should suffice. Then just ride as you are allowed. If they say something, then you know they just aren’t observant enough!

    I fell off my radwagon 4 last week. 1st bike crash I can remember. I'm fine, so is the bike.
    I hit a sand pit in a curve, my wheels got stuck and I fell over. I somehow tucked and rolled and received no injury, but it made me realize how bad the handling is when there no weight behind me. I stopped trying to get always faster and accepted that the rw4 is made to go slower than I wanted to go.

    Hi Russ. I rode to Des Plaines river the other day. River Rd scares me so I took neighborhood streets and came out on Hopi Ln and crossed River Rd into the Dam 2 entrance. I'm glad you were not hurt from your fall. I fell 2 years ago and fractured my left elbow. My front wheel washed out while I was making a u-turn from the grass back on the side walk. The grass was long enough that it covered how high the side walk was from the grass. Enjoyed the video.

    I know you are shocked Russ. You were right. You say we are all going to fall. I fell on the 29th. I fell on my first Burchda ride. It was about 250 miles in counting the Commuter miles. Was a fun night till then. 12.5 miles on the Burchda. Will stay that for this season. I have surgery on my left forearm Thursday. Love the U8 even after the fall.

    Recently took a fall myself when I stopped my bike on a slope. Never stop sideways to a slope. The bike will lean downward and your foot won't find the ground. Then, after explaining this to my riding buddy, he did the exact same thing when riding his bike to his car parked on a downward slope. As he stopped, he tilted, couldn't reach the ground and fell. We're good, no major damage to the bikes, but it's not fun to fall. Glad you're okay! 😯

    Well, no more watermelons on the ebike trips to the grocery store😂At least you didn't get hurt too bad and you, the ebike and the watermelon (peaches too) are ok. Mrs.Right will have to shop for lighter items🤣Just glad you didn't fall on your left side with the knee replacement. Been riding the Wired Crusier+ LOVE IT! I had to see what it could do so I rode 25 miles and had 65% left on the batteries in PAS 3, 4, 5 going 30 up to 42 mph when keeping up with the cars. I'll try PAS 1, 2 at 20-22 mph to get better range. No balancing issues with the battery and increased weight on the rear rack, always keeping both hands on the handlebar. Very smooth ride with the rear air suspension. Stay safe Russ👍

    Russ, I’ve had incidents like yours. Funny thing is I don’t damage my pants, their fine (long leg pants), but my knee or leg still gets scraped.
    Maybe it’s time for a review of lightweight, protected riding cloths (the lightest use “mesh cloth” for airflow). These times of clothing use removable thin, protective pads (“CE-1”)for flexibility and resilience. They are like everyday pants, or jeans. They also have a liner or cloth made out of Kevlar to prevent road rash.
    Motorcyclists use them all the time, and these “every day cloths look” is very popular.
    Only downside is pricing… not to much to prevent injury I’d say.

    A very nice bike indeed. I tried to install a handlebar extender on my bike but I did not like it so I just have a lot of stuff on my handlebars. LOL. So sorry you fell. That is never a good feeling. It is funnily interesting as to what makes us fall sometimes. I am sitting here with a bad cold. Ugh. Also it has been too hot to ride. I did use my exercise bike yesterday to keep my legs and knees moving.

    I watched citizen cycles video also, so i had a 7lb bag of ice in the back rack and I had the death wobble.now I get it even empty. Noticed it after I installed a handlebar riser. Never wobbled before I installed it. I rarely ride no handed so it isn't to much of a concern.

    Hi Russ
    I have the cruser pro and am wondering how you mounted the front basket as I have the same and the cables seem to be in the way especially when turning to the right. Can you give me any pointers on this issue.
    Thks in advance
    Dan

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just mounted the basket so that the cables are behind the basket. It is a tight fit but it worked for me.

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could in-do any cable management ties to loosen up the cables so that they fit on either side behind the basket and then re-tie the cable management if they helps.
