For kayak and wade fishing in Florida, I use dive booties - Promate 5mm Dreadnought Hard Sole Scuba Dive Zipper Boots. I've used them with and without neoprene socks since November 2019, and they've worked really well.
Found your channel a few months ago. I like your content for the most part. I wondered if other viewers ,as I would, would like to see some ocean to table videos. They seem popular on other channels. Thanks Lou
i have owned a pair for 3 years fishing the Devils River in West Texas. Best paddling & walking shoe I have used. Protects your whole foot when wading in the rocks and rapids. Extremely comfortable. You are right about the sizing.
I used old tennis shoes..but they would have sand leftover no matter how many rinses and smelled like dead shrimp after awhile. Then my brother was hit in calf by large stingray..so now it’s Kevlar boots and the stingray shuffle. Thanks for the information, may get some of those for freshwater. 👍👍 Have a great week! 🎣
For some reason I had you pegged as retired Air Force. 9 year Army vet here. Anyway, I wear Keens, those expensive sandals. Little rocks always manage to get in through the gaps and torment me. Maybe I’ll check these out.
I’ve been wearing SoftScience shoes for 5 years - I love them! I have the boat shoes, so they don’t have the upper protection to the ankle. I would like that, but I also wear the shoes as “sneakers.” So the older pair I wear kayaking, and the new ones I wear “around town.” I usually wear a size 12 EEE (wide), so found I needed the 13 to fit. But SoftScience was awesome. I returned the 12s and they replaced them with the 13s. Great customer service. I’ll take a look at the booty type, as I do like that for kayaking, especially in cold weather. But I’d be less likely to wear those other places! And the shoes are SUPER comfortable, a must for me. Another fantastic video! Roger, The Smiling BassHole
@@KayakhacksFishing No sir! But when I was a kid, everybody THOUGHT I would be tall because my feet were big. I got to 5'8". But nobody could knock me down!
I have the Soft Science Fins and absolutely love them. I have used them for 3 Years now with the only issue being that the seam at the back tore. I was able to sew it back up and good as new! I'll definitely be buying them again. Great Review!
Thanks for the review. I just picked up a pair on Black Friday. I like them so far. I'll probably get a couple more years out of them, since I don't fish as you. I started out with NRS boundry boots. Then their wet shoes. I just got SoftScience boots, so time will tell. I prefer them so far.
I just went to my local fly fishing shop and bought AdamsBuilt Knott Creek Booties. I (fly) fish the surf. I haven't used them yet but he said he'd worn them for a season and they held up great. It's a good alternate. Thanks for the video!
Those are the shoes I recommend to everyone who fish around oysters beds and rocks. I know roofers that wear them because the soles are so non-slip. ✌️
I do a lot of flyfishing wading and kayaking. I mostly fish streams in Kentucky with many of them having rocky bottoms. The rocks are killers on my ankles so I've been using a super cheap Wally World over the ankle work boot. I was wondering these are on wet slippery rocks and the approximate cost. Great video, many thanks!
I think anything without cleats or felt is going to slip a bit on rocks with any type of growth. The challenge is ... do you want to wear cleats in a kayak? Another commenter recommended the Cabelas light neoprene wading boots - take a look at those and see if they are better.
The launch at my cabin is pretty treacherous, so I need to be as sure-footed as a clumsy guy can be. The best yak shoes I've had are some $25 Cabela's light neoprene wading boots, with a zipper up the side and a felt sole. My soles started to separate a bit, but I Shoe Goo'd the heck out of them and now they're solid, if no longer pretty. I would recommend them, but they aren't selling 'em any more.
These guys might have some - www.tackledirect.com/softscience-mens-fin-boots.html but also check out the Cabelas neophrene wading boots another commenter mentioned.
@@KayakhacksFishing that's a shame that they are in bankruptcy. I'll have to look online to see what I can find. Didn't know if places like Dicks, Academy, or Bass Pro would carry them or not. Thank you for getting back to me.
Before i clicked on the link i was guessing how much the SoftScience shoes would cost. OMG!!!! I can't believe YOU forked out $100.00 for a pair! They must be good! By the way, I am retired AIR FORCE,
You even wore your Army shirt, total savagery. Those look pretty decent but I guess this forces me to make a video about the absolute best ones available. One of these days when I don't take an afternoon nap, I will.
@@KayakhacksFishing I know this an old post but there are lots of Softscience shoes on Ebay and Amazon now. The had a public auction and sold huge lots of brand new Softscience shoes and they are being sold now. I have bought 4 or 5 pairs in last 2 months.
$24.99 for canvas high top “chucks” I was kayaking overturned and found myself stepping on rusted steel I-beams that were once a bridge cut my feet up something crazy with the soft rubber bottoms of kayak booties and my bro lost pieces of his foot,so I copy the Navy SEALs now with “ Chuck Taylor “ canvas sneakers
Your reviews are always honest and very helpful - gratitude!!!
I appreciate that!
Don't fish salt water but NRS makes a good boot that I have used for years.

I wonder the size issue contributed to their business problems...
Good video! I didn't think of oysters! My concern is stingrays. My father was stung and was in bed for a while.
I'm terrified of those critters! I always shuffle when walking!
