    This isn't a line that I've ever worked over and there was loads of interesting stuff. Of particular interest was seeing the changeover from LU to NR Infrastructure, it went a little further beyond Amersham than I expected. Great video.

    Ha! Had never twigged before that the siding at Amersham you left has no conrails. Learn something new every day!
    I believe that the public footpath about half mile out of Amersham (can't remember its official name, but off the end of Longfield Drive) is LU's only remaining level crossing... and none of its trains run over it.

    I first travelled on this line in the mid-40s and used to commute into London on its in the 70s. So this makes me very nostalgic. Will all this be destroyed by HS2?

      @driverskid  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, it won't be effected by HS2, other than being crossed by a new viaduct near Wendover.

    Over the old Great Central railway route and deep into metro land

      These were always Metropolitan tracks over which the GCR had running rights. The GCR was beyond Quainton Road

    Hmmm, that was quite a welcoming committee?!

    Is the warbling sound at the end the ATP shutting down? Ive heard it at Bicester as well Im guessing its when it enters & exits an ATP area?

    • @driverskid
      @driverskid  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's the ATP disagreeing with the driver's braking curve. It tends to be very oversensitive.

    TH-cam's auto image stabilisation is having a fit near the bottom of the screen, trying (and failing) to understand the sleepers going past!

    • @MichaelBeeny
      @MichaelBeeny 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, kind of ironic that an image stabilizer makes the image even more unstable than not using one.

    It's faster when you don't stop at the stations, isn't it?

    Why all those orange vests at Aylesbury?.

    • @driverskid

      Just some drivers and cleaners I think.

    Could be a good video but needs the image stabilisation removing, makes it unwatchable for some unfortunately.

    Was the 165 in need of repair?

      No, Just a booked ECS move.

      Rare to see a chiltern dmu on that siding.

    • @driverskid
      @driverskid  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@semajttam It used to be quite common on Sundays when half the services from Aylesbury terminated at Amersham. Now they almost all run through to London. I think there might still be a late one on Sundays that uses the siding.

      @@driverskid Do you think there is any scope to upgrade line speeds on this route? Or is 75 probably about as high as is realistic?

    • @driverskid
      @driverskid  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@adamw2911 Well, the majority of the current rolling stock on the line is only 75mph so there's little to gain at the moment. It would also require a resignalling, so pretty hard to justify the outlay for what would be minimal gain.
