I lost my husband of 35 years 10 years ago this December 24th. Music is wonderful, yet sometimes difficult. My husband and I played together, he on guitar and me singing and playing flute, for those 35 years. We had a band with others for years. I was playing and singing a Paul McCartney song 15 minutes before he died getting Christmas gifts out of the road, after the tailgate came down. I can't remember the song, even though I've remembered many times, and even now, songs are my business, I keep forgetting which song it was.

You’ll be getting married if I have anything to do with it, if you haven’t already! You must be a lovely person to like this wonderful song that much. And being that you’re ‘all that’ we must find just the right lover man or lover woman for you! Oh, I guess I should mention that I’m a magic genie!
Fantastic song, makes your hair stand up. It was my mothers favourite sang by Rod Steward. I listen to this and feel my mum is next to me. God rest her soul, I miss her so much
WOW! In my twenties I bought a Best of CD of Louis Armstrong. This was the first track on that CD and I fell in love with its mystical whimsy. Now, in my fifties and with a possible revival of an old friendly flame (a flame that, for me, never went out), your version is like a rebirth of something I'd long thought wasn't there, something I'd mistakenly thought left a long time ago. Time has a way of putting things into an alternate perspective. Thank you for this version! It is beautiful.
Thank u Jill Barber . U have an unbelievable voice. This was my beloved late moms favourite song. She passed away in 2017, but this song always brings her back to me
It's called "Good Music". Actually "Light Jazz" would be another good description. Other Canadians Holly Cole and Martha Wainwright sometimes work in a similar style and range back to some of these old songs from the 40's and 50's. I enjoy Jill's wide scope and thank CBC's Stewart McLean for bringing her to my attention some years back.
Just heard Jill Barber's rendition of this old Louis Armstrong hit from many moons ago for the first time today. And I enjoyed Jill's version is just as much as Armstrong's.
I sing this song. In this key, in this octave. She, like K.D. Lang has a contralto that is genuine and not at the bottom of her range. She doesn't swallow the tone to get these notes! The thing I love about her voice is that it still has a pixie sparkle to it, where as K.D. Lang's is a classic crooner sound that knows no sex, no gender at all. So, I would call Jill Barber in vocal alignment with a tenor - like me. I would put K.D. Lang in alignment with a baritone.... I talking tembre, vocal color here. Her rendition is wonderful, like K.D. Langs and different as well but I LOVE both to death. Those two are my favorite recordings of this wonderful song. It took me a while to find this one.... hmmm....
Give me a kiss to build a dream on And my imagination will thrive upon that kiss Sweetheart, I ask no more than this A kiss to build a dream on Give me a kiss before you leave me And my imagination will feed my hungry heart Leave me one thing before we part A kiss to build a dream on And when I'm alone with my fancies, I'll be with you Weaving romances, making believe they're true Oh, give me your lips for just a moment And my imagination will make that moment live Give me what you alone can give A kiss to build a dream on When I'm alone with my fancies, I'll be with you Weaving romances, making believe they're true Oh, give me lips for just a moment And my imagination will make that moment live Oh, give me what you alone can give A kiss to build a dream on

A few thumbs down? It seems that there are still far too many assholes on the planet. (Did I just say that in my outdoor voice?) Goood! Spot on Ms. Barber. I loved it immensely : )
I lost my husband to cancer last week & we danced to this song many times. His first kiss was what I built a dream on & a family. 31 years.

POCO IMPORTA BURLAR BRAZOS Y PECHO, SI TE LABRA PRISIÓN MI FANTASÍA.
lovely, but the original is still better.
Yes she sings good, but no. This ladies rendition is lukewarm at best. This sounds very generic.
WHICH ORIGINAL? BY WHOM ?
Barber's singing is mediocre
Cyborgslayer404d You are referring to Kay Brown 1951?
ignorecorporatenews the original is made by Louis armstrong
This is Fallout 2 bgm if the water chip were not misdelivered to vault 8
Dont make remakes
