I actually thoroughly enjoyed this game unlike pretty much everyone else. I just don't see what's so bad about it. Then again, I don't care about customization or grinding through races to upgrade your cars

Beautiful game. Very smooth, very professional. You take things at your own pace. Great social interactions. Solid controls. High adrenaline races and chases. Easydrive is a perfect addition.
One of my favorite graphical features is the camera bounce. There is a great sense of weight when the camera dips down after smashing into the ground with every jump. I wish more racing games had a camera like in Most Wanted.
I actually managed to take down a SWAT SUV in the second MW by angling a hit on the side at high speed. It felt awesome in spite of how nonsensical the cosmetic only damage is.
It's a great game but it needed at least visual customization and something to actually gain from wins besides parts like money. The cars should have been bought. I understand they wanted to do everything the opposite of the run and they did but the sense of gain is lost despite how fun it was. A storyline wouldn't hurt either.
It's kind of annoying that they slapped the "Most Wanted" title on, it's makes people believe it's a sequel to the NFSMW that released in 05. Comparing the two, this MW is just awful.

I get that many people expected something like the most wanted from 2005 but coming from the burnout franchise, it is a great game. Most people knew it's not like most wanted, since it's not the same studio as 2005.
odin72017 The thing is, it's NOT Burnout, I don't think companies should entirely change a game like they did with Need For Speed Most Wanted 2012. Regardless if people who are fans of Burnout liked it, thats WHY they liked it, because it's like Burnout.
If anything, this is closer to a Burnout Paradise sequel than a most wanted sequel. Its basicly Burnout Paradise with cops and real cars. The end result is a really fun arcade racer. The original most wanted is a completely different style of game, but both are good in their own ways. Apples and oranges here.
I still cannot stand how they make cars looked like toys in this one,but have the handling of semi on icy roads. City that looked too much like a playground than actual city in 2005 Most Wanted.
Barebare kun toys? I don't know if you are playing on a Ps Vita or something, but these cars look amazing especially for a 2012 game. The city is a city, they have tall buildings everywhere etc...
It simply too colorful,too saturated and city sure it have buildings but there many sections that just doesn't make sense it almost like they designed it as a playground disguised to look like city. Some part of the city are really wide open like and some are just feel too shady. Just mismatches of all Canadian and Northwest and northern american cities combined,some parts look like Chicago others are Ontario,Detroit,Seattle,a bit Portland in the outskirts. They just don't know what they really wanted the place to look like so it looked all over the places. It's city but the sense of place of it was so confusing.
This game is awesome for one reason it has a unique feature that no other racing game has ever had the ability to find cars around the map instead of having to buy them
You people are so picky at NFS games. The only reason you guys are saying this game is bad is because other people are saying it too. This game has stunning graphics, one of the so-called "redeemable" games of EA, and it has a really good soundtrack. The reason why the story is so quick is because this was made in 1 YEAR. This was the last NFS game that was actually good, and you guys aren't just noticing it. EDIT: I'm going to be honest, the 2005 version of Most Wanted was better.

Thank you! People are just whining about customization, but that's not what this is about. The game encourages a pick up and play attitude, where you get straight into the action. I mean, have you read the requirements for the unlockable? Drive 100 miles? Drive 50 miles in oncoming traffic? Get 500 yards of air? It's a much simpler Need For Speed. Nothing wrong with that. Plus, let's not forget that the OG MWs open world was absolute shit. Lastly, the top comment complains about relentless cops. Lol really? It ain't that hard dude. How about stop sucking and crashing???
even the run was better, i love criterion but only for the burnout series, i really disliked this one so much , i don't get why spme ppl liked it ... hope that the first most wanted will come to xbox one BC with burnout revenge too , these 360 versions are the best on consoles .
For me, this game is awesome... I don't have a lot of time on my hands, and this game lets me jump in, drive fast, make some incredible jumps, have a lot of fun, then get back to all of my responsibilities. Games are supposed to be fun, and for me this need for speed is just fun to play.
This was the perfect racing game for me. I don't get all the hate it gets. I found it really engaging, and a game that you could jump right in to without all the corny live action story stuff.

I played the original on PS2 and loved every minute of it, fast, fun, unique. I loved the races against the bosses where you got their car, was my favorite part. However I love this version, Criterion did a great job, and while I would love a Midnight Club Customization on a Need For Speed game, I'm not going to condemn this effort for what it is, which is fun, fast paced and a racer with a open world, it's fun looking for new cars and while I prefer the work your way up, this is good fun.
Need For Speed Most Wanted 2005 is my fav of them all. Why is it always these companies get a hit and go in the opposite direction thinking they need to make a whole new game? All they needed to do was add more exotic rides, better graphics, customization, and awesome music. BOOM! You got yourself another hit.

I just got this for free from Origin, and played for about 15minutes before work. I like the weighted feel of the cars, but the lack of camera options is a huge problem for me. Only 2 available; behind the car, and then a first person view with no hood, or cockpit view. Wtf? I like to play with hood or cockpit view!
I think the Manufactures don't allow it, and it would take more time to intricately design the interior, For me, I don't mind it not being there, but it would nice to have it

i personally thought the Run was a good game i kinda liked it being more story driven and you felt like you were racing for a purpose and i know some people hate them but I've always enjoyed quick time events in cutscenes to always keep you on your toes haha
Why the heck does he keep saying Most Wanted?!?! That game came out in 2005. This game is burnout paradise 2! Any smart person (IGN is not one of them) can see this is not a NFS game. Man IGN must be losing their mind. Definetly never looking at an IGN review with the words "Need For Speed" in it, cause they'll just keep reviewing the next installments in the burnout franchise.
It has checkpoints in the middle of the road that you are obliged do pass through and transparent walls, but you can drive anywhere in the middle of the race.
So i'm watching this review as i download my Free copy on Origin. Since it's free i can't really complain but i did played original Most Wanted in the past and i hope this "remake" is just as good as the original was.

This game sucks. You can't customize your car the way you want. The old most wanted is better. The games music cuts off for a quick second to compensate your game play. Overall I wouldn't recommend this game.
HuRRay! wKU The handling is unrealistic but it's beautiful, perfect sliding and loose control suited for the tight, many routed city. Customisation is not needed and for a game which presents such huge variety of car types from 1950 cars to electric concepts, why would you ruin that with body kits. This is not a midnight tuner street racer, this is a law defiance racer
Because the progression system is terrible. Since basically everything is unlocked from the start and there is no story, you have basically no reason to play the game (apart from online). That's just my opinion, if this game makes you happy then I'm cool with that.
@@p_Hak that does make sense. I think it’s a difference of how people play the game? For me it was a bit of stress relief, where I was doing a random race between study session for exams to unwind, and in terms of the way the cars handled and the sense of speed it worked really well for my purposes
I drive Kia Optima which is a family property of course and it doesn't have a single customization on it yet. FYI ricing my ride would be the last thing I'd do. Modification of cars IS THE MAIN PART of NFS. Customizing Exotics, Tuners, Muscles IS THE MAIN PART OF NFS. "Customization" is what took NFS to a whole new level, which was NFS Underground.
I HATED this game so much! have you played burnout paradise first? well this game is exactly like that but without the fun and cars you can't drive parked in the game till you pay for them, awful driving controls galore, and cops who are relentless.

Umm, did we play the same game? You don't "buy" the cars, you find them. The cops are also pathetically easy to lose if you just drive into a dark alleyway or building and turn off your engine. I actually had to put effort in when I wanted to maintain a pursuit!
It's not a bad game if you know how to play it but it's quite frustrating and time consuming trying to make a perfect race/lap. The constant crushes are annoying but at least this game is far much better than need for speed rivals, the game with the most glitches and bugs in the world...
Really wished they would have stuck with the original most wanted setup, customization,story, and challenges. This "reboot" was a horrible game ! The customize on the go was cool but what happened to making cars feel and look like your personality ! No vinyls or decals to have fun with, they could have easily thought of a continuence to the story of MW and made this a little bit better 6/10 for me
While that may be an opinion to you, there are those of us who haven't played that one. I did legitimately enjoy this when I was playing it at a friend's house. It's a good time.
Hot Pursuit(2010) and this Most Wanted(2012)... They are great and fun games to play with, good soundtrack on Hot Pursuit and excelent soundtrack of Most Wanted wich I loved it!But with the graphics, Hot Pursuit is far better!

My favourite NFS and racing game ever- Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 3/2010. True to the series, and requires skill to drive AND use weapons and gadgets to your advantage, quite like vehicular warfare and awesome multiplayer. This is followed by Carbon and Most Wanted.

So... is IGN just sucking up to EA now? I ask this because this NFSMW sucks. Sure, the graphics are great and all of the secret areas and back roads you can access are fun, but that's about it. IF YOU THINK THIS GAME WILL BE AS FUN AS THE ORIGINAL NSF MOST WANTED, YOU WILL BE SORELY DISAPPOINTED. 1. The introduction to the game is boring as all hell... *spoiler alert* you start off by driving your car up to a Porsche and then getting into it, then starting the first race. All the while you're having your ear talked off by the narrator who's telling you how to play the game... 2. Customization is practically nonexistent. First off, there's no safe house or garage to go to. All customization is done through your HUD. I use the term customization lightly- it's basically all performance upgrades. That's right, no applying vinyl, custom body kits, custom wheels, and unique paint jobs here. The cars may as well be rentals. 3. The cars are mostly obtained by finding them. I wouldn't have a problem if it was just a few select, high end cars that are hidden like this, but this system essentially destroys the point of working your way up in the game. There's no such thing as saving up cash and buying the car you want- you have to hunt for the car you want. Additionally, you can't switch between automatic and manual. 4. The races you do are dictated by the cars you drive. Remember the cars you have to search for? Well, you have to use these specific cars to finish specific races. Oh you want nitrous? You'd better go find the right car and complete the right race first. 5. Avoiding the police just isn't as fun as it used to be. It's sort of like avoiding police in real life- where your only real options are to out run them and hope they don't catch up, or find a place to hide. In the first Most Wanted you could do things like crash through pillars at a donut shop to drop the giant donut onto the police cars. Or if you want you can simply smash up every cop car until they can't pursue you any more. That was WAY more fun than running and hiding. 6. The blacklist rac- sorry I mean the "most wanted racers"- won't race you until you get a high enough bount- I mean... until you get enough speed points. This means that in order to get through to the actual goal of the game, you have to wander around and piss off the cops by flying through speed cameras and evading police pursuits. The fact that pursuits aren't very fun really makes this more of a chore. Yes, you were required to do some of this stuff to get to one of the 15 Blacklist racers in the first one, but they were clear cut challenges and races that were fun to undertake. Oh, and by the way you could do these races with ANY car you want- unlike in this game. tldr- This game looks nice, but that's about it. With virtually no car customization, no sense of accomplishment through the cars you get, and police pursuits that have been turned into a simple game of run and hide. This is basically a high def, arcade racer with an open world in place of a race selection menu.
Mis-ter Solitude None of those games are NFS, they are burnout games but I'll answer your question anyway. HP 2010: Too easy repetitive and very very boring after you beat it. MW 2012: The game's crash tendency is too high and you'll crash at 30 MPH impacts (no joke), the game is very repetitive, theirs no skill to play the game, just ram people. No progression story customization, the list goes on. Rivals: IS THE MOST BUGGIEST GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED! The game is constantly loading the map as you drive, customization is almost non existent with what little choices you have. Driving physics feels stupid and awkward. And as MW 2012, no skill is needed, just ram people and shoot with your weapons. And also, the game locks up every now and then, so that means you'll lose your SP while out on the road. And one other thing, the cops have more advantages than racers, they have faster cars (Bugatti Veyron, Koenigsegg Agera R, Hennessey Venom, Mclaren F1) they have stronger cars, and hunt in packs. So unless you have a group of racers that decide to team up, your almost always screwed :/

there is some small customization. like, u can get off-road tires and track tires, light or reinforced chassi, nitro, body and transmission upgrades but its like 2 for each and u can equip/un-equip them live. U can also get upgrades versions of them called "pro" for meeting certain requirements, like "drive 4000 km with offroad tires. But that's it, no real car customization and even less, engine customization like past games.
Honestly this was the Worst NFS i've played.. I just couldn't stand the fact that there is no Story in this game.. It's BLANK, all cars are available, so What's the point in playing ?!...i only enjoyed the soundtrack.. Seriously.. Can't EA make a game as Good as NFSMW (2005) or Underground 2 ?? those were the games I loved. Even Pro Street was better than this crap.. i think that EA should stop making NFS coz they just keep coming up with worse ideas all the time..
This was actually the first Most Wanted I played. I wasn't able to get the first one, and the gritty presentation and incorporation of street stories in comparison to the originals (I grew up on NFS High Stakes) kept me from ever trying it to this day. I liked the newer version as it felt cleaner, faster (albeit nonsensical and Burnout-like) and more frenetic. The exploration was a highlight for a while, but it does get repetitive. What I find hilarious was adding a nitrous system to a Tesla.

I hated Hot Pursuit on the Xbox 360. Hated it. If you're talking about Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (I or II) on GameCube, I didn't really see a difference. Felt pretty good.

Soundtrack and atmosphere was perfect. I just wished the game had some narrative and car unlock system instead of pick and drive.

I get that many people expected something like the most wanted from 2005 but coming from the burnout franchise, it is a great game. If anything, this is closer to a Burnout Paradise sequel than a most wanted sequel. Its basicly Burnout Paradise with cops and real cars. The end result is a really fun arcade racer. The original most wanted is a completely different style of game, but both are good in their own ways. Apples and oranges here.

The city is a city, they have tall buildings everywhere etc...
It simply too colorful,too saturated and city sure it have buildings but there many sections that just doesn't make sense it almost like they designed it as a playground disguised to look like city.
Some part of the city are really wide open like and some are just feel too shady.
Just mismatches of all Canadian and Northwest and northern american cities combined,some parts look like Chicago others are Ontario,Detroit,Seattle,a bit Portland in the outskirts.
They just don't know what they really wanted the place to look like so it looked all over the places.
It's city but the sense of place of it was so confusing.

This game has stunning graphics, one of the so-called "redeemable" games of EA, and it has a really good soundtrack. The reason why the story is so quick is because this was made in 1 YEAR. I mean, have you read the requirements for the unlockable? Drive 100 miles? Drive 50 miles in oncoming traffic? Get 500 yards of air?

For me, this game is awesome... I don't have a lot of time on my hands, and this game lets me jump in, drive fast, make some incredible jumps, have a lot of fun, then get back to all of my responsibilities. Games are supposed to be fun, and for me this need for speed is just fun to play.
This was the perfect racing game for me. I don't get all the hate it gets. I found it really engaging, and a game that you could jump right in to without all the corny live action story stuff.

I played the original on PS2 and loved every minute of it, fast, fun, unique. I loved the races against the bosses where you got their car, was my favorite part. However I love this version, Criterion did a great job, and while I would love a Midnight Club Customization on a Need For Speed game, I'm not going to condemn this effort for what it is, which is fun, fast paced and a racer with a open world, it's fun looking for new cars and while I prefer the work your way up, this is good fun.
NFSMW 2012 is still aged well 9 years on.

Need For Speed Most Wanted 2005 is my fav of them all. Why is it always these companies get a hit and go in the opposite direction thinking they need to make a whole new game? All they needed to do was add more exotic rides, better graphics, customization, and awesome music. BOOM! You got yourself another hit.

I just got this for free from Origin, and played for about 15minutes before work. I like the weighted feel of the cars, but the lack of camera options is a huge problem for me. Only 2 available; behind the car, and then a first person view with no hood, or cockpit view. Wtf? I like to play with hood or cockpit view!

i personally thought the Run was a good game i kinda liked it being more story driven and you felt like you were racing for a purpose and i know some people hate them but I've always enjoyed quick time events in cutscenes to always keep you on your toes haha

Because the progression system is terrible. Since basically everything is unlocked from the start and there is no story, you have basically no reason to play the game (apart from online).
That's just my opinion, if this game makes you happy then I'm cool with that.

Modification of cars IS THE MAIN PART of NFS. Customizing Exotics, Tuners, Muscles IS THE MAIN PART OF NFS. "Customization" is what took NFS to a whole new level, which was NFS Underground.

Umm, did we play the same game? You don't "buy" the cars, you find them. The cops are also pathetically easy to lose if you just drive into a dark alleyway or building and turn off your engine. I actually had to put effort in when I wanted to maintain a pursuit!
It's not a bad game if you know how to play it but it's quite frustrating and time consuming trying to make a perfect race/lap. The constant crushes are annoying but at least this game is far much better than need for speed rivals, the game with the most glitches and bugs in the world...

Really wished they would have stuck with the original most wanted setup, customization,story, and challenges. This "reboot" was a horrible game ! The customize on the go was cool but what happened to making cars feel and look like your personality ! No vinyls or decals to have fun with, they could have easily thought of a continuence to the story of MW and made this a little bit better 6/10 for me
While that may be an opinion to you, there are those of us who haven't played that one. I did legitimately enjoy this when I was playing it at a friend's house. It's a good time.

My favourite NFS and racing game ever- Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 3/2010. True to the series, and requires skill to drive AND use weapons and gadgets to your advantage, quite like vehicular warfare and awesome multiplayer. This is followed by Carbon and Most Wanted.

Sure, the graphics are great and all of the secret areas and back roads you can access are fun, but that's about it. IF YOU THINK THIS GAME WILL BE AS FUN AS THE ORIGINAL NSF MOST WANTED, YOU WILL BE SORELY DISAPPOINTED.
1. The introduction to the game is boring as all hell... *spoiler alert* you start off by driving your car up to a Porsche and then getting into it, then starting the first race. All the while you're having your ear talked off by the narrator who's telling you how to play the game...
2. Customization is practically nonexistent. First off, there's no safe house or garage to go to. All customization is done through your HUD. I use the term customization lightly- it's basically all performance upgrades. That's right, no applying vinyl, custom body kits, custom wheels, and unique paint jobs here. The cars may as well be rentals.
3. The cars are mostly obtained by finding them. I wouldn't have a problem if it was just a few select, high end cars that are hidden like this, but this system essentially destroys the point of working your way up in the game. There's no such thing as saving up cash and buying the car you want- you have to hunt for the car you want. Additionally, you can't switch between automatic and manual.
4. The races you do are dictated by the cars you drive. Remember the cars you have to search for? Well, you have to use these specific cars to finish specific races. Oh you want nitrous? You'd better go find the right car and complete the right race first.
5. Avoiding the police just isn't as fun as it used to be. It's sort of like avoiding police in real life- where your only real options are to out run them and hope they don't catch up, or find a place to hide. In the first Most Wanted you could do things like crash through pillars at a donut shop to drop the giant donut onto the police cars. Or if you want you can simply smash up every cop car until they can't pursue you any more. That was WAY more fun than running and hiding.
6. The blacklist rac- sorry I mean the "most wanted racers"- won't race you until you get a high enough bount- I mean... until you get enough speed points. This means that in order to get through to the actual goal of the game, you have to wander around and piss off the cops by flying through speed cameras and evading police pursuits. The fact that pursuits aren't very fun really makes this more of a chore. Yes, you were required to do some of this stuff to get to one of the 15 Blacklist racers in the first one, but they were clear cut challenges and races that were fun to undertake. Oh, and by the way you could do these races with ANY car you want- unlike in this game.
tldr- This game looks nice, but that's about it. With virtually no car customization, no sense of accomplishment through the cars you get, and police pursuits that have been turned into a simple game of run and hide. This is basically a high def, arcade racer with an open world in place of a race selection menu.

None of those games are NFS, they are burnout games but I'll answer your question anyway.
HP 2010: Too easy repetitive and very very boring after you beat it.
MW 2012: The game's crash tendency is too high and you'll crash at 30 MPH impacts (no joke), the game is very repetitive, theirs no skill to play the game, just ram people. No progression story customization, the list goes on.
Rivals: IS THE MOST BUGGIEST GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED! The game is constantly loading the map as you drive, customization is almost non existent with what little choices you have. Driving physics feels stupid and awkward. And as MW 2012, no skill is needed, just ram people and shoot with your weapons. And also, the game locks up every now and then, so that means you'll lose your SP while out on the road. And one other thing, the cops have more advantages than racers, they have faster cars (Bugatti Veyron, Koenigsegg Agera R, Hennessey Venom, Mclaren F1) they have stronger cars, and hunt in packs. So unless you have a group of racers that decide to team up, your almost always screwed :/

there is some small customization. like, u can get off-road tires and track tires, light or reinforced chassi, nitro, body and transmission upgrades but its like 2 for each and u can equip/un-equip them live. U can also get upgrades versions of them called "pro" for meeting certain requirements, like "drive 4000 km with offroad tires. But that's it, no real car customization and even less, engine customization like past games.
Honestly this was the Worst NFS i've played.. I just couldn't stand the fact that there is no Story in this game.. It's BLANK, all cars are available, so What's the point in playing ?!...i only enjoyed the soundtrack.. Seriously.. Can't EA make a game as Good as NFSMW (2005) or Underground 2 ?? those were the games I loved. Even Pro Street was better than this crap.. i think that EA should stop making NFS coz they just keep coming up with worse ideas all the time..

NFS most wanted? More like NFS car crashed
This was actually the first Most Wanted I played. I wasn't able to get the first one, and the gritty presentation and incorporation of street stories in comparison to the originals (I grew up on NFS High Stakes) kept me from ever trying it to this day. I liked the newer version as it felt cleaner, faster (albeit nonsensical and Burnout-like) and more frenetic. The exploration was a highlight for a while, but it does get repetitive.
What I find hilarious was adding a nitrous system to a Tesla.

its not REALLY a NFS game. you can't even get a friggin manual transmission in the game. its just not an NFS game and thats exactly what I told the gamestop guy when I returned the POS.
So was Hot pursuit not really an NFS game? (Most Wanted is literally just Hot Pursuit with a glossy coat over the top)
If it says "Need for speed" on the box, It's not a Rip off, like League of legends being a Rip off of World of Warcraft. It's need for speed.

NFS hot pursuit was great and not at ALL like most wanted. It was a totally different thing. I don't care if it says NFS on the box. you could put a BMW badge on a turd but that doesn't make it great, it just gets crap on the BMW badge.
The game was a total piece and a complete hackjob of a NFS wannabe. I don't care who gave em permission to use the name.
