This is a video in my new Core Concepts series -- designed to provide students and lifelong learners a brief discussion focused on one main concept from a classic philosophical text and thinker.
This Core Concept video focuses on Rene Descartes' work The Discourse on Method, specifically on his discussion in part 2 of the work, where he sets out to reconstruct reliable foundations that will support his project of progressively developing genuine knowledge.

I am an optics engineer. Until now, I had been mostly studying mathematics and physics. But I happened to perceive the importance of wielding humanities pieces of knowledge, chief among them philosophy, not only to become more intellectually multidimensional but in order to become a better person, to find a better institutional course in my life, simply speaking. Why I found Professor Sadler's youtube channel on philosophy superior to other channels was its pure goal; to teach philosophy. This is in contrast with other channels where you can very easily observe that they obviously tend to increase their subscribers at the cost of reducing the quality of teachings. For instance, many of those channels produce short videos, say, less than 2 minutes. For someone like me who is a novice in philosophy, it could be at most of the times quite frustrating to see that you did not understand Descartes philosophy in a very short time. In these situations, it is probable to put the blame not on the video maker but on ourselves.

I suppose that might indeed be the case - that the viewer blames themself for not understanding a complex text, thinker, topic, etc. because they only get too-short or simplistic treatments, and then take them as accurate. The same thing happens, by the way, with textbooks and intro to philosophy classes, sometimes

Professor Sadler's way of teaching is quite amazingly both pedantic and plain, at the same time as well as his way of speaking which is both voluble and simple.

Hahahah! Generally, being "pedantic" is not a good thing

@@GregoryBSadler LOL. I am not a native English speaker but you are right. :))
In fact, now I learned a subtle difference between pedantic and pedagogical.
