I was 16 at this show and remember the tears streaming down my face when we sang the “what might’ve been lost” bit during Wolves. One of the best moments of my life, the spectacle of it all. Gorgeous show, still, ten years later.
This has to be the dream set list for a Bon Iver fan. Song after song is incredible. This group is purely magical. I would love to see them at Red Rocks one time.

I was there in NYC in September 2012. I'll never forget it. I was studying at Georgetown and had booked the tickets when I was still in Sydney, Australia thinking someone I met on exchange would want to go with me. I was right. It was incredible. A night I'll hold close to my heart forever.
I’m so happy I saw them on this tour. It made me emotional being able to see a version of it again. I went alone for my 20th birthday and I couldn’t of been happier
couldnt HAVE been happier, not could'nt OF been happier- that doesnt make sense if you look at it. Just trying to save the English language, one misprounced saying at a time. The reason many young, poorly educated people think its, "could'nt of" is because of the way its been spoken out loud with the multiple contraction of "could, not and have- "could'nt've" is usually how it sounds.
First 2 albums of BI hug me like a soft and warm blanket while the 3rd album abruptly snatches the blanket and told me that the sun's showing up and the 4th is like telling me to go to the park and bask under the sun
I’d say 22 A Million abruptly snatches the blanket, rips it in half, sets fire to one half and swallows the other whole before reassuring you that you don’t need the blanket anymore. It tells you that the sun isn’t out yet but it will be soon. It then grabs you by the shoulders and forcefully turns you to face the sunrise, then disappears, leaving you staring into the horizon.
Hell, I never realized just how impactful Wolves Act 1 & 2 was until I saw this live version. I had this video on in the background at work at the office, and suddenly I'm tearing up in a room full of people.
I cannot listen to this loud enough. It starts off with me listening loud and continually turn it up louder and louder. Hearing the intrinsicality of it all, wanting to hear every note of every instrument. The essentialness of it. Louder and louder and louder, and I have a decent system. “Pushing Air”, as Justin would say. So much.
you have to see this live. It seams that the sound comes into you and makes you vibrate with every dynamic they perform. I cried. Seriously. And I never cried for things like these.
Sitting here in late Feb 2021, having been quarantined for a year, realizing how beautiful a live concert like this is and not knowing if it'll come back anytime soon, but hoping so, anticipating having this feeling again. Be save everyone.
@@martinparidon9056 Dude fuck that guy, it's human to cry, never deny your emotions for some jackass that was raised as a rock and to not show emotion. I balled my eyes out to some Bon Iver songs last month thinking about my ex. Its healthy and its human. Hope you come out of quarantine well my friend.
Let that pandemic dew go away and come to Europe guys, please! 2021 please be that kind! I was never able to go to any show of Bon Iver and consider the last 13 months I'm scared that I won't be able to ever, so this is my pray. PEACE AND LOVE!
Was fortunate to see this tour at Red Rocks in 2012 and it was absolutely stunning. Been looking for a HQ performance of this year ever since, what an absolutely incredible show: the music, ambiance, etc. I'll never forget that night on the rocks and this is a perfect reminder of the power of this iteration of his band and the music he was creating at the time. Thank you for posting!
I was at the concert during my road trip from NYC down to New Orleans. Still a top 3 concert of all time for me. Never had such acoustics like that venue again.
This must be around 2011/2012.. the set list is from their releases back then. I was lucky enough to see them on 11/11/11 in Bristol, UK and it remains the most amazing gig I've ever, ever been to.
The sound of the steel guitar in for Emma was so good that I could jump and sing along and the ending of the wolves was pretty awesome the rimshot at the end of the song was pretty good keep playing and don’t stop!
Thanks for posting this, every fan should see it and hear it. I was there, October 2012. I was 17. The looks I got make me think I must have looked very young. But it was the best concert ever. Symphonic arrangements of For Emma were dazzling. But the self-titled album songs were even more symphonic than the studio versions. A bold choice, well executed. My friend got the audio from the Bowery and I put it on my iTunes. This version of Michicant was on repeat throughout the winter. :) I am grateful I got to see Bon Iver live before the next albums came out. Very grateful.
This music feeds my soul, brings every emotion possible, makes me feel alive unlike any other before or since. Barely able to describe, it must be felt. ❤
eight years ago I was working in the pub, in a picturesque village. It was an end of the season and an open mic night. There was a boy playing one of Bon Iver songs, that I recognized and thanked him for the song. He was genuenly suprised that anyone but him knows Bon Iver :D I guess the band went a long way since then.
besides re stacks being absent for some reason, I think this is the perfect bon iver set list. I would love to see him tour just these songs again. I dont hate 22 a million or I,I but if he ever makes another album, I would love for it to be more like self titled
Thank you all for your artistic expression. Haunting, tantric, ephemeral come to mind. The performance is so welcome in this crazy 2020. Gracias, merci, ありがとうございました
Saw the show the night before this one (also at Radio City) and it was one of the best performances I've ever seen. Thank you for posting this, it's beautiful.
HEY! BE NICE! The speakers don't work, and they can't hear the concert, so they took all their frustration out on the thumbs-down button. That's the only reasonable explanation.
God, I love a solo acoustic Skinny Love as much as the next guy, but good LORD the version here with the whole band and the brass section hits DIFFERENT. I almost want a studio version of that.
I saw them on this tour (pretty much exact same show), and it was one of the best shows of my life. Great to have a high quality recording from this era to go back to. This is prime Bon Iver for me. I've tried and tried to get into the last two albums, but I feel like I just don't "get" them.
You don't have to get them! You can love and listen to whatever you want to, and that's the beauty of music and having a few albums to work with. For me the latest albums helped me break out of my musical comfort zone and I'm thankful for it. I still love for Emma more than I should though !
If you listen to 22 a million at the right time, it will blow you away. It did something to me, but not the first time I listened to it. Now it's my favorite, but to each their own.

If there is a more haunting and emotional opening riff to a song than Perth, I haven't heard it.
Maybe Mogwai's "Take Me Somewhere Nice."
@@grimshawr Perth feels a lot more hopeful and with better times on the horizon than Mogwai's take me somewhere nice
Lump Sums opening is actually more haunting and borderline terrifying in my opinion.
there is none
Goes so well with Beth Rest. Perfect intro to the most perfect song.
