Traditional balcony for me any day. I so enjoy sitting and standing outside gazing at the ocean, taking in the salt air and wind in my hair. Would not cruise without a traditional balcony.
Absolutely a Great job, by Disney on that rescue. I'm a regular Balcony type guy like sitting out on my balcony having my morning coffee or a evening drink as the sun goes down.
Back in 1994 , could feel the ship turn around when we realized there was a fishing boat with 17 people from Cuba . There were sharks surrounding the boat, and come to find out a woman had just had a baby. The ship rescued all 17 ! It was incredible!
Love Celebrity Edge. Interesting to see what they decide to do with the next ship class. I like the infinite balcony because of the extra space and the expansive view of the ocean/port you get from inside the room. Like the clip you showed at the end. It adds something extra to your video. You should use some of your footage to add to other news videos.
My two cents: - Ditch the Infite Balcony - Put in more Thermal Suites like on the Radiance Class. - - Floor to ceiling windows. -- NOT under the !!!! weight room. - Move the smoking areas to the AFT of the ship (maybe even with it's own pool).
We’ve done a lot of Celebrity cruises. I like all the ships but I do love the Edge class and infinite balconies. I didn’t think I would but I do. You have more room and you can see the ocean from the door you enter. They are really great for cold weather cruises like Alaska, Norway, Iceland, etc. You sit on your balcony chair but it’s enclosed. The thing I miss the most on Edge class is no Sky Lounge…no observation bar area at the top. They now use that space for suites or retreat area.
Hi Don. I have been on the Celebrity Reflection and the Celebrity Apex. Both ships were beautiful. Honestly I HATED the infinite balcony. So much so that my next 2 cruises will be on the Reflection in December and in March we are going on the Celebrity Eclipse. The Apex had amazing entertainment both in the theater and in Eden which is their best selling point but the infinite balcony was truly awful. It's just a glorified roll down window that doesn't feel like you are outside.
I don't use a traditional balcony so I love the infinite veranda. I hope the new class is the size of the Solstice class. I would like to have a lot of solo accommodations too.
As often happens Don didn't get the story of the Disney Treasure rescue quite correct. First of all it doesn't take a large amount of time for the ship to turn in any direction. The ship might be large but it certainly can be maneuvered in open seas without difficulty. Secondly, the life boat wouldn't travel 80 miles to the catamaran in distress. The lifeboats aren't designed to travel that kind of distance quickly. In the photo in the video, with the sea state at the time the trip for the lifeboat would have been very slow and bumpy. The Disney Treasure quickly and easily sailed within a few hundred feet of the catamaran and then they launched a lifeboat to pick up the crew of the vessel. The Disney ship diverted around 11:40 a.m. and arrived near the catamaran about 1:00 p.m., so the trip took less than 1 1/2 hours.
I’ve seen a rescue several years ago on a Royal- same situation Celebrity- Edge Class- glad that’s it, don’t like the infinite cabins- just a big window and cabin gets so hot! Bring back the real balconies!!! They have a few, but not many middle except suites! Eden & Club- good shows but too small unless you get there a few hours early.
Thanks again for your updates, Don. Always good to catch up with what's happening. Had no experience with the infinite balcony room, so can't comment, except to say, it doesn't appeal to me. Having a change from Princess next. Going on the NCL Epic and then the Celebrity Equinox in a few week's time. Hopefully the weather will hold.
I wonder how the Edge class ships would do if they were hit with a wave/wind like the Explorer was last week but from the other side from the magic carpet
Full disclosure, I have never stayed in an infinite balcony room. I love balcony rooms very much. From watching videos from you and others, I can't imagine having any interest in an infinite balcony.
Hi Don how is your Cruise going on MSC Seaside have not seen you say anything about it I did come a cross you doing taking Paul in cruise but you have to subscribe now to see you on u tube mike
80 miles away? It would take that Disney ship 4 hours to get there or 2 hours of rough speeding on the open sea in a Zodiac, if it didn't run out of fuel first. Check the story, it can't have been 80 miles away. Probably it was 25 miles or less.
According to CBS News the SOS went out at 11:40AM and the rescue was complete at 1:00 PM, a total of 1 hour and 20 minutes, or 80 minutes, not 80 miles! Cruise ships can't travel at 60 miles per hout, ever.
Well, why not celebrity make half IV and half traditional balcony. I much prefer traditional. As for new … I love the solarium but there should be an entire area of the ship dedicated only to adult only areas. Even dinner venues. They can do a retreat but, what about an Adults only retreat area. Sure, Celebrity is marketed to a more “mature audience” for which already limits kids but there still are kids nonetheless. I would love to see more Adult only areas on Celebrity. No, I will not consider Virgin as it reminds me already of the Royal Caribbean hideaway beach adult only creation. It’s like spring break for adults.
I've not been on on the ship with those infinite balconies and I will not book one either. If I want a balcony then I book a proper balcony not some make believe one. At the end of the day a balcony cabin has a solid dividing area between it and the outside, simple and easy.
Traditional balcony for me any day. I so enjoy sitting and standing outside gazing at the ocean, taking in the salt air and wind in my hair. Would not cruise without a traditional balcony.
Traditional balcony for me 👍
And keep it more geared to adults is why I love Celebrity.
I would want a “real” balcony, open and airy. Thanks Don.
Yes, they should go to traditional balcony. Thanks Don
Absolutely a Great job, by Disney on that rescue. I'm a regular Balcony type guy like sitting out on my balcony having my morning coffee or a evening drink as the sun goes down.
I like the 3000 passenger solstice class ships. They have real balconies and enough spaces for people to gather and watch entertainment
I like the regular balcony
Traditional balcony for us.
I really like the infinite balconies along with the extra space in the cabin.
Disney to the rescue! 🛟 So glad everyone was safe. Sorry for their loss. ….Traditional balconies, please.
Back in 1994 , could feel the ship turn around when we realized there was a fishing boat with 17 people from Cuba . There were sharks surrounding the boat, and come to find out a woman had just had a baby. The ship rescued all 17 ! It was incredible!

A ship that has about 2000 to 3000 passengers, regular balconies, and truly all-inclusive.
any balcony is good to me
Glad that they are safe. Traditional balcony all the way.
Keep up the good work
I had to laugh when I saw your sit up this morning. Looks like a pat it room in orange jumpsuit.

Traditional balcony for moi
Glad there safe. Glad cruise ship able to move now and people got home. CANT WAIT to see new Ship.
Thanks to Disney for the rescue at sea.
Whatever set up yeilds the most available balcony cabins🎉. I don’t like missing out, I adore balconies
Glad everyone was safely rescued.
definitely the traditional balcony
Glad the Treasure was able to save them.
Traditional balconies

Great to hear Disney made that rescue

I would love to see the same size Celebrity ship with traditional balconies. Definitely don’t want larger ships.
I don’t mind the new balconies but much prefer the old ones. There is something special about sitting outside with the fresh air
Always look forward to your updates!
Traditional balcony please!
Hi Don, That is why I always take 2 week extra meds with on all trips.
Good on Disney, thanks for info
Thanks for the updates. Speaking of updates, how's the tooth that was bothering you?

Hi Don hope your having an awesome day.
Project Nirvana sounds interesting!
Thank you Disney

how about solo rooms instead of more than double for a solo traveler
Adults Only would be great!!
Let's hope the entertainment venues of Celebrity's new Nirvana project ships are better thought out than in Princess' Sphere class ships...
Definitely do away or at least drastically reduce the number of infinite balcony rooms.
A new Millennium class ship would be my suggestion with new itineraries.
We are our 70’s an like the cruise ships that carry 3000 passengers, because it is easier to get around.
We have been on Celebrity a couple of times now and we would prefer the original real traditional balconies!
traditional balcony for Me
Good job Disney
I would just like them to sail from galveston
Celebrity is driving us away with classic beverage package only up to $10 drinks! :(
I am in the "real balcony" camp.
Traditional balcony
So Don how is your msc cruise going
I wonder how the Edge class ships would do if they were hit with a wave/wind like the Explorer was last week but from the other side from the magic carpet
Hopefully with a new ships, it won’t have any of those infinite “balconies “
No infinite balconies.
Full disclosure, I have never stayed in an infinite balcony room. I love balcony rooms very much. From watching videos from you and others, I can't imagine having any interest in an infinite balcony.
What’s the lastest on the Regal outta of Galveston?? We r wanting to book but r very leery. Ur thoughts on it sailing the 16th?
Hi Don your face looks swollen are you feeling ok or your fighting another ailment?
Hi Don how is your Cruise going on MSC Seaside have not seen you say anything about it I did come a cross you doing taking Paul in cruise but you have to subscribe now to see you on u tube mike
I have NEVER seen or heard of the Magic Carpet being used as a tender loading area. I know that was the plan, just hasn't happened from my experience.
I’ve seen it many times.
@ good information. Thanks. On our last cruise on Beyond to Grand Cayman, it seemed like the perfect opportunity. Yet it still wasn’t used.
Don, what did you do to get put in a padded room?
Definitely would not like the new infinity balconies.
The infinite balcony needs to go away! It’s neither infinite nor a balcony!
not a fan of those parisian balconies on the edge class ships.
No infinite balconies for me.
Don, what does your bestie Capt. Kate think about no further Edge class ships?
Those balcony's are not balcony's they are just over rated windows. I would not want that I like sitting out on a real balcony.
80 miles away? It would take that Disney ship 4 hours to get there or 2 hours of rough speeding on the open sea in a Zodiac, if it didn't run out of fuel first.

No Infinite Balcony, it's much too restrictive.
That law went into effect as a result of the Titanic.

Don, are you OK? The right side of your face looks a little droopy. Just concerned.

He looks as though he is in a padded cell.
celebrity solstice was the best class. alas celebrity has gone done hill with the edge class and their services and lost us as passengers.
I don't like the infinite balcony. I want a real balcony.... not a glorified porthole.
We usually go on Royal Caribbean cruises but would like to try a Celebrity cruise, but the weird balcony isn't nice.
Why are you talking from one side of your mouth, hope everything is ok?
