This is by far the best induction speech of all time!
Greatest Hall of Fame speech ever. It's a kids game played by grown men. Nothing captured the game and the man being inducted better than Ueck. And not a single note in front of him. What a legend.

So glad this video exists. The jokes. The Hall of Famers and others literally not able to hold back tears of laughter. Just beautiful. As a kid growing up in Wisconsin attending games at County Stadium as a Brewers fan still to this day, I cherish this guy.

I've watched this many times and Bob's daughter-in-law, she has a hat on and glasses and a long dress and she's sitting next to her husband which is Bob's son, she's beautiful and the expression on Bob's son's face when he's talking about how proud he was of his boys when they played in the championship game and they lost, Bob's son's face shows a big smile, and I'm certain that Bob has produced many smiles through the years for his family
I was very privileged to have met him in person! I attended his daughters wedding to my brother, Bob was so kind and considerate, he made my parents feel so comfortable and even took us to the game night before the wedding! My parents are farmers in the Midwest of Illinois and had never attended a major league baseball game… He was such a charming host and guess what, we all were on the “front row“ 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙❤️❤️❤️❤️❣️
I'm 68 and a lifelong Wisconsin resident and baseball fan! Uecker is, if possible, funnier while calling a game than he was during this speech! When there's a rain delay we don't change the radio station, we turn up the volume because we're about to be entertained by Mr. Baseball! Uecker is obviously hilarious but he's also extremely knowledgeable! It's always been surprising to me that he never moved on to a bigger market...but in Milwaukee we're sure glad he hasn't!!
Some people are motivated by loyalty and love of their hometown and/or home team, more so than money.. I’d like to think Bob was that kind of guy. The Yankees, Dodgers, Braves and a few other teams are WAY too uptight to ever have a comedic master like Bob as their main broadcaster. So if you’re going to choose from a smaller market team, why not choose your own home town?

I worked construction during summers in the 1970s, when I was going to college. After work (weather permitting) I'd go fishing; wading long stretches of a river in WI and I'd always get back to my car when it was dark. I would sit in my car, crack a beer and listen to Bob calling a Brewers game. My whole life was before me and I didn't have a care in the world. I recently retired and it seems like it was just yesterday. Bob's strong, smooth voice ("jjjuuusssttt a bit outside") and the way he entertained you with self-deprecating stories, as he effortlessly called a game, made him one of the best. It's great to see him recognized and honored in such a proper way. He also shares my passion for Great Lakes fishing and his annual Lake MI tournament raised money for worthy causes. Thanks for the ride Bob.

I'm 65 and I keep telling my kids to enjoy every phase of their lives and to somehow choose to find joy in life because the time goes by "like smoke through a keyhole" as Jack Nicholson said in "The Bucket List." Great memories are worth holding onto. If you get a chance, read Bob's book. You will appreciate it.
I was there for Eddie Murray's induction. But Uecker had me rolling with so much laughter I cried. He was just plain hilarious.
I can imagine you know Orioles Fan he told a story once he & Al Michaels were doing a game with Howard Cosell. Michaels said “Cosell was calling for a bunt in a situation where if the manager did it he’d be fired.” Uecker trying to be professional is saying Howard it’s not a good idea & Cosell in his smart ways says “Ok Bob I get the point you don’t have to be so truculent, you probably don’t know what truculent means???”
Uecker didn’t bat an eye & said “If you had a truck & I borrowed it it be a truculent.”
Lol laughing when the story was told Uecker said “Howard wanted to hit me I know he did he couldn’t believe I said that.”
I remember a game he called talking about how he was a gymnast. He said he didn't do great on the pummel horse, but he was riding it side saddle. I laughed my ass off

I’m 51 and have lived near Milwaukee my whole life. I have been listening to Bob Uecker every season. It wouldn’t seem right without him. We’ve been lucky to have him 49 years now.

We moved when I was almost 6 but you and I are about the same age and born in the same area. I was born at Columbia Hospital in late 1968 and we lived in Port Washington. All of my extended family still lives in the area, Waukesha, Oconomowoc, and Beloit. In the mid 80s my buddy was a bellman at the Disneyland Hotel. He delivered orange juice to Mr. Ueckers room, met him and told me that he was the most genuine celebrity type he'd ever met, and he met a bunch.

I was on the field pregame in 1983 at a white Sox versus brewers game When I was 14 years old and had the pleasure of meeting bob uecker.... I had just finished finished reading his Paperback book called catcher in the wry And Being a child not doing much better I said did you know there was another book called catcher in the rye but it was spelled differently. I was just a young kid and he could have blown me off for ignored me but he took a good 20 or 30 seconds to shake my hand look me in the eye and make me feel welcome. From what I have read from him what I have read about him And my brief interaction with him He really is a gentleman And 1Hilarious guy

I think everyone from back in the 60's,70's, 80, 90's, and 2000's knows Uecker wasn't voted in for his baseball talent, but for his game calling and the promotion of the game. @@ckmoore101Did you listen to him calling games at all? He was always baseball first, but he could make the worst game ever into an enjoyable experience because of how good he was at his craft. He's one of the best broadcasters ever! That's not hyperbole, it is fact! If you don't get it or didn't listen to him often I understand, but he is one of the most beloved baseball people on the planet. He is a legendary broadcaster & one of the best characters baseball has ever had emerge from the game.

I can vividly remember being a kid growing up in Racine WI (south of Milwaukee) Dad used to listen to the games on the radio on old WTMJ AM while we did our stuff around the house and yard etc. Not only did it plant the love of the game in me, but a true love of humor, kindness and modesty that permeated his broadcasts.

I was in Dodger Stadium the night Uecker hit the home run off of Koufax, an 11 year old kid on vacation out there and first big league game....57 years later and I am still watching him. He is an American institution, and one of the best things to ever come from the sport of baseball. When a kid complains about batting .225, you can always say that's 25 points better than Uecker lol

Bob Uecker, the finest man to ever of come out of Milwaukee, this was an Awesome clip, thanks to the GREAT Bob Uecker & baseball.
It's interesting to consider that as the camera pans around in that video and shows all of the MLB legends on the stage with him, at some point during a season, Ueck incorporates a story about each and every one of them into his broadcasts.
To have a guy do games who knows all of the greats of the game and get to hear those stories is a treasure.
I've lived in Wisconsin my whole life and I literally grew up listening to Ueck do games on the radio. Ueck really is a treasure.
I don't have to sit through an endless stream of blathering about exit velocity and all of the new analytics that broadcasters think have meaning to a game. I get to hear Ueck weave a 15-minute story about Robin Yount or Lou Brock in between calling the game and it's wonderful.
He knows all of those great players. How many of the "new" broadcasters have stood around the cage during BP and swapped stories? How many of them can talk about about a game in St. Louis in 1965 and share a Bob Gibson story?

Better than most sets I've seen at a comedy venue. And those legends in attendance. Wow! One of the few times it pays to be old. I recognized so many.
I was driving a cab that day and listening on the radio. I almost drove into the ditch a couple of times from laughter.

This is a joke and quite disgusting, bob uecker in the HOF. When the likes of Gil Hodges, Dale Murphy, Don Mattingly, Orel Hershiser are snubbed. John Smoltz first ballot HOF, yet never during his career could he stand in the shoes of the Hershiser from 1984-1989. Even after his arm trouble he was at least as good or better then smoltz. craig biggio HOF on 2nd year of eligibility. At no point in his career could he stand in the shoes of Gil Hodges, or Don Mattingly from 1984-89, or Dale Murphy from 1980-1987 a 2 time MVP. I went to several Cardinal games in the 60's and had the opportunity to watch Bob try to play baseball. i even told my little league team to watch Bob carefully so they wouldn't make the same mistakes. God bless you Bob. You are not only one of the funniest men to come out of baseball, but truth be told a damn fine defensive catcher.

Out of all the greatest comedians that I’ve ever seen, I don’t think anybody could ever roast themselves as good as Bob Uecker could on a consistent basis. Talk about somebody who had so much fun making fun of himself you have the confidence of one of the proudest Mnd you could ever meet.I remember growing up listening to him on the radio during rainstorms in a barbecue outside of the garage with my dad. No TV, it was always the radio and Bob Uecker in the Brewers. God bless.

As a Braves fan in Atlanta, Bob Uecker was a fan favorite. I still enjoy clips like these and they fill my heart with laughter, especially when Mr. Baseball to me is at the microphone. Thanks for making baseball a lot less boring to watch when you where on the field and especially in the booth, congratulations on your career reward.

As a Wisconsin-ite who remembers watching Robin Yount play at Count Stadium as a kid and have listened to countless games on the radio, I am completely aware and I'm with ya all the way. I could listen to him even talk about nonsense all day. A treasure he is. GO CREW!

Watching this never gets old. I laugh every single time.
When I interned at a local radio station, I got to cover some Brewers games at Miller Park, and Uecker walked by one time, and I said, "Hey, Uek!" And he gave me a backhand slap on the hip, saying, "Hey, how's it going?" Talk about being on cloud 9, man!
