I can understand your reasoning why you felt the need to offload a lot of your unwanted games because that “arcade hunt” can get insane & out of control very quickly. I too have fallen trap to the very same thing it causes so much unnecessary stress & can lead to a lot of frustration having so many projects around the house. From 2019 to 2023 I probably cycled through over a hundred games easy & finally got my prime collection down to about a solid 40 now. To manage these games on the daily can be draining & ruin your mental health left unchecked for too long. It’s a nice feeling letting go of games & not having to worry about it anymore
1)GORF MNI.... I have 2 of them (its getting harder to find these in good shape) ....or any cabaret.... 2)MOONWALKER...The PCB alone is worth some big coin!. good replay value..eeeEEEE. hhhEEEEEEE!.. 3)AFTER BURNER COCKPIT...(probably the rarest one in your collection and a hand full left in existance!) "although some games can be rare and worth money,..if you want them back, im sure youll find it again",.
Sometimes we grow up away from the things we love time fly we get older we change hopefully always for the better and sometimes it’s the wife but I believe it’s all about time We can never relive our child hood this Ralph second child hood and he grew out of it could congratulations man
Even if your partner doesn’t say anything, you should always be conscious about the space you use and how it can be unfair to the household if you’re taking an excessive amount of space. In the end this is all just stuff and holds zero importance to the things that really matter.
I can assure you my wife had zero to do with this. My wife is the coolest, patient and most supportive person EVER. I would have just said that if she had anything to do with it. Thanks for watching!
This is great. Like you said, this goes into all our collecting obsessions - this is me with TMNT. I’m really looking forward to sitting down and going through boxes of crap, and offloading things I don’t do anything with or care for. You do you, bud. We’ll always be here!
Hey Ralph, I totally understand where you're coming from and am glad that the preservation of the arcade nostalgia didn't sour your love of the hobby. It's very easy to have that happen and there's nothing wrong with having a 'curated' collection of arcade systems and still maintain a love for those that you let go!
As always, another superb video, and I can totally relate to it. I had 14 machines and, in the last 12 months, have whittled it down to just 3 that I play the most. What machines did you keep Ralph? Much love, bro. Keep bringing that 🔥👊🏼
I like all the arcades you find and video on here. 2 arcades you are missing out on is in RI . Freeplay & Electric magnetic pinball museum and restoration (EMP). Look them up if you read this.
This reminds of me when I sold like 95% of my video game collection. I only keep - at the time - my top 3 games for each console. Cheers and rock on dude!
Dude, I did this a few times, and not just with arcades but my entire life. You always end up feeling lighter and happier. Quality is key. Time moves so much slower for us when we don’t fill every second with acquiring more…and time is the only real currency.
Actually, Space is the reason why I got an custom full sized arcade machine that has emulators that you can see on my channel. It has all the games including consoles in one single unit. I have more time to play games and enjoy them, even though they are emulated, I also plan to get a virtual pinball machine so I have all the virtual pinball games and they look realistic just like the real thing. So in the end, I plan to have three machines, one for arcade and console games another one for pinball and another one for driving games. They won’t take a lot of room and I can just boot them up and start playing. If you have time, let me know what you think of arcade. It’s on channel.
Sometimes, less is more. Culling the collection down to what you actually play is a good thing. The arcade hobby is multi facetted and can get out of hand in any one direction easily. I'm glad you found your way and you're now at peace with it all.
@@RetroRalph Finally, listen man, look at these rich cocksuckers and there big showrooms of games. They play one to show off and you can tell wow, they haven't even mastered the basics of ANY of these games. Good for you.
Congrats on the realization and execution of your focus shift! I've always appreciated your content as a provider of entertainment and I'm glad you are taking more time to enjoy being a consumer of it.
Smart move. Arcades are pain in the ass to maintain. Even after meticulously going through everything and fixing they still go down! Congratulations on selling you cabs brotha! I
Sound thinking and actions you've taken, Ralph! 'Less but better' has been my driver for years now. Enjoy having only stuff I love now (less than 1/10th of the gaming stuff I used to own). This is the way.
Thanks brother, It was hard at first but man, once i was over the hump, it's helped a lot. Thanks for taking the time to comment man and for supporting the channel.
OldRalph! You’ve always seemed like a really genuine dude and I’ve loved watching your videos for that reason. Glad to see you’re keeping it real and listening to what your body and soul need. Always a pleasure to see a new video from you, but so is knowing you’re enjoying the world out there!
Thanks man, I really appreciate that. I try to keep things upbeat and positive as much as I can…but sometimes the reality of a situation isn’t always pretty. But from the comments on this video, it seems like “although not always fun to admit” we all need to take a look at our hobbies from time to time and make sure we’re still approaching them in a healthy way. I was getting overwhelmed and stressed out so that was my queue to do something. I appreciate you taking the time to watch it man and to take the time out of your day to comment. 🙏🏻
Glad to hear you are doing what makes you happy! Also thank you for your content and channel it was one of the things that helped me get through covid as a hospital worker.
That's awesome hearing that man, thanks for all your hard work during the pandemic. My wife worked in Urgent Care during the pandemic, so I know the kind of hard work and dedication you all put in. If my videos somehow helped you, that's the biggest compliment I could ever get.
Awesome to hear that you are doubling down on the things that are bringing you genuine happiness. That is a lesson all of us can apply to our own lives. None of us know how much time we have left, so spending it with the people and things that bring us happiness is so important.
Kudos to you finding balance in your life Ralph. We only have so much space in our lives, and too much stuff starts overtaking it both emotionally and physically. It's funny how this vibe of enough is enough is spreading through the collecting community as of late. I think it's a good thing, as being a gamer isn't about hoarding stuff like dragons till you can't move around your living space. It's about enjoying gaming as so many collectors have lost themselves along the way but are coming back to the reasons, they started this journey.
Man, I am gonna miss you doing the next restoration project. I loved following you along that journey and learned so much along the way too. Hopefully, you'll be back making those. The last thing we need is another guy telling us how great arcade games are and why we should listen to their opinion. We get it already, they're fun. Gonna miss you bro! RIP
I'm not going anywhere man, I might publish a bit less content, but I'm not leaving. I got a good 5 or so years left of content creation in me... I think... haha. I mean, I still gotta find that Varkon. ;-)
That's fantastic news! It's important in life to have balance and only collect the things that bring us much joy. I agree 100% as a content creator it's important for us to do what we enjoy as for a lot of us this is a hobby. Thanks for the great content you continue to provide and I really like the new direction your channel is taking.
Congrats on your pre-spring cleaning! You have been a great source on content but I am glad you have decided to focus on enjoying your time gaming too. I disagree with leaving without Outrun, except if you kept Outrun 2! Take care and thank you for sharing your Arcade journey with us.
What's up dude!!! It's been a while brother! I hope all is well, ya made me smile seeing you in the comments. I hope life is treating you and your lady well, and I hope you have a great weekend!
several times I exclaimed 'you sold that?!' as I'm going down the list, I even remember watching all the restoration/pickup vids for some of those! but hey even if you're slowing down I'll be sure to keep watching the content I do love me some arcade stuff!
I have heard that A LOT from others. I don't know if I will ever go "full pinball" but I'm spending the most time playing pinball vs. Video Games. Time will tell I guess, right? Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks for the continued support man, I will for sure do a new tour video for 2024. I just need to clean up the garage a bit more, and then I will film something ASAP. Great idea and thanks again bud, your support is much apprecaited!
You’re the GOAT, Ralph. And, it’s clear your a really good guy. Your show helped me get through some health issues over the past few years during my recovery. And, I really appreciate that ✊ Glad you got to declutter, brother. It’s good for the soul. Sending u positive energy while you find balance in your life 🙏
Wow man, that means so much to me to hear that. I hope you're fully recovered at this point, and thanks so much for sharing that. Thanks again man and I can't tell you how much I appreciate the kind words. Have a great weekend man!
I had a similar revelation at the start of the year myself - I've been working on a couple arcade builds in my (much, much smaller than yours) arcade, and I realized I was spending more time working on the damn front ends and sorting than playing the games. I decided I'm wrapping those up this year and spending more time playing arcade games. Your video has re-inspired me!
Sounds like you recognized it as turning into a grind or being a grind, so nothing wrong with right sizing. We can get so focused with blinders on that we lose sight of what makes us happy. Glad you are happy now. Game on...
Great video. You were getting a little crazy! Glad you were able to get rid of some, enjoy the ones you have. I think you might have a little seller remorse on that Ms Pacman / Galaga 20th Anniversary, you might to re buy that one, I know Kim loved it. Again, great video, my friend, hope all is good.
Hey Ralph, enjoyed the insight and the honesty of which most of us endure in this passion hobby. Personally I’ve taken a bit of a break after restoring a couple games over the last couple months to just “live” life and enjoy family and friends in the moment. I feel like it’s recharged my batteries. Hope you and your family are well and take care bud 😎
Great video Ralph! I'm so happy to see you have found the happy peace you needed. Decluttering is always a good thing! Especially when the clutter gets in the way of other passions! Much love Bro! paPOw!!! 💥💥👊💥💥
Zod!!! What's up bro! I hope all is well man, always awesome seeing you in the comments man! I hope life is treating you well, thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to comment brother!
I’m new to your channel. I just wanted to say hello and thank you for your in put on retro video game. Retro video game is my all time passion. I’ll be watching some of your old videos to get caught up. Again thank you for all you do and done
Life's too short not to do what you want to do. Good for you Ralph, live life doing what makes you happy brother. Enjoy everyday as if it was your last. See ya on the next one.
Awwwwwww, Rafa, please don't pull a John's Arcade on me and just disappear. Your channel helped me become the person I am now. I dropped the bottle and started focusing on arcades again. It seems weird, but you helped me apply my mind to the positives of life and flushed out the negative. Rafa, you and John's Arcade are the reason I'm in this home arcade community, Thank you.
I’m not going anywhere my friend , I promise. And I love hearing that I could even play a small role in something so important to your life man. That means the world to me bud 🙏🏻. Thank you for always supporting me and I at least have a good 5 years left in me so Letssssssss Goooooo! Positivity all around my friend! Looks like you’re stuck with me for now 😏
Great content Ralph I’ve had the same thoughts my self and have started to pair down my collection as well to make more space in my garage where games are actually playable and comfortable to play keep up the great work Ralph and looking forward to see any content you have time for I’ve been following you since the start with the arcade 1 up fad and graduated to real machines like yourself when you did you were a lot of inspiration to me to collect
I feel that, I went through a huge phase where gaming just didn’t feel fun to me anymore, and that was mostly because I was focussing too much on one side of gaming, particularly the competitive pvp side, it felt more like a job then a game, but now that I’ve started to mix up the genres I play, gaming has become far more enjoyable
@@RetroRalph street fighter cocktail, 5 gen 1’s… rampage, galaga ( both w/ berry berry sneaky mod) final fight, street fighter and mortal kombat. I bought pac mania to consolidate but the emulation is atrocious so I regret letting galaga go. Was sick about it so I asked the guy if I could buy it back, we’re working on a trade! 🤞
I did the same thing 7 years ago. Sold off 18 machines and scaled back. It was like you said , I started doing it for the hunt. Ended up with machines that I never played. I find myself always watching though and sometimes wanting to pounce on a machine and have managed to talk me out of them so far.
I get it brother, do what makes ya happy..I started out in the arcade hobby then pinball kinda took over for me. I still have a few arcades but haven't been actively looking for arcades in a few years ..been really considering moving some of the stuff I have for a high quality multicade to save space and save room for my pinball machines.. so I get it
Hey my friend, you might not remember me but i made 2 or 3 arcade graphic designs for you a few years back (a sega genesis themed arcade 1up and a snes themed one too...). I just stumbled across this video and its funny because i'm going through the exact same situation right now, i feel like selling most of my stuff! I became addicted to collecting retro merchandise (figures, video games etc.) and realise i put way too much money in it and i'm not happier by any means. I will go with the less is more approach from now on and start using my money to do real activities with my family. Good luck my friend it wont be easy its an addiction that has a tendency to come back overtime...
Losing focus when collecting is a huge thing that a lot of people will go through. I’ve consistently gone through changes with collecting. Now I’ve decided to drop down what I’m collecting, for now, I’ve decided to go ODE and everdrives for retro. Working my way through ODE’s as it’s not cheap but selling off physicals right now to be okay with FPGA is where I’m at either collecting now. It’ll change again soon.
Completely understand. I have a number of games and projects I need to let go of. I have duplicates of some...is that an LCD? On that X-Men. Is that an LCD?!?!
Damn dude, that's a freaking great idea! Mason, if you read this, I need a thumbnail @aexlife had a great idea for a follow-up video. LOL ... but seriously, I need the thumbnail bro.
You also sold Killer Instinct...but it's been a while haha. I fully get the feeling of clearing stuff out. I've been very picky about what I'm buying to avoid this very situation. I also know if I get a cabinet I'll really struggle to let it go. It's nice to just enjoy what you have.
As of right now I would say the DX with the Pandory Tool to fix all the broken stuff or the Pandora 10-year anniversary. I'm not sure if the Pandory tool supports it yet but if it does, that would be a great option too. I hope this helps!
You're kinda being a bad influence right now man... haha. Let me at least feel good about myself for 24 hours, too early man... haha. Thanks for watching brother!
Great video. I think more people need to take your advice. I am in process with this as well. Getting rid of some physical games(cd based) and non Nintendo stuff and all the goofy handhelds and game boxes and Pandora crap. Just keeping the stuff I play and my current gen consoles.
Happens to the best of us. Early on I was acquiring games w too quick. Restoring more than playing. Recently started letting projects go so I had time to enjoy the ones I already fixed up.
I use to be those people who would want to have these arcade machines. Now I am just glad some people buy it and preserve them. Watching about it is already satisfying, I don't need to own them.
Good for you! The things you own end up owning you. I was in the same boat. Its funny how quickly your actual hobby can quickly be replaced with maintenance of the hobby and shopping addiction/ over consumption. Less really is more.
Great video Ralph. We created an I-Score score tracker account as a friend group, which helped with people playing games instead of chasing the next Arcade deal. Have a great weekend.
Collecting consoles and fixing things, end up being trophies... some are played for a while then end up collecting dust. Im a game horder and simply can not part ways. I have way to much and very little room in the house. My pcb collecting has really gotten out of hand.. Thank Todd for that and his best offer sales. Fixing stuff tends to take the fun out of it.
I can totally relate. I'm big into retro gaming and collecting Star Wars and we are moving to a new house later this year. I am using this as an opportunity to sell off a lot of stuff that I really don't play and/or care about any longer. I can use the space and money for future stuff and as a bonus, won't need to move it. I'm also finding that quality over quantity is a good way to slow things down a bit.
Kudos to you, RR! This is a great video, and has a lot of great lessons. And that book title is hilarious :) In this day and age, we have so many ways to play every game for arcade or any game system...you don't want the hobby to consume you in a negative way. I have six arcade cabs, some 30 plus consoles, multiple rooms full of machines...and it's too much (not a full time hobby for me even). I don't have time to play them, even like once yearly in some cases, so I'm selling some off. Keep what you really enjoy, you can get a quick fix via emulation in some cases where needed. And in other cases, go to a real arcade (I'm within driving distance of Galloping Ghost, which is NICE). As you said, keep what you need to make yourself happy. Things that frustrate you? Probably no satisfaction in the end is going to win out - sell it, get rid of it. The weight off your shoulders is so freeing! Again, great video, thank you for this!
If that's what you got out of this video, that's so grossly different from what I said. Did you watch the whole thing? If anything I'm being honest about the negative sides of collecting and what I did to help MYSELF personally. If that helps others, that's awesome, but I have no idea how you came to the conclusion that you did.
@@RetroRalph I get it. But it would be like a football player telling his fans that he’s outgrown the sport and feels it’s a relative waste of time…and that maybe it is for them, too. I get what you’re saying, but it’s still a buzzkill.
@@Mr.Pacario BUt I didn't say I've outgrown Arcade collecting, I just said I was slowing down. I don't have infinate money and space, so I have to be smarter, that was supposed to be the main message. Not, Ok guys, I quit, no more collecting for me. The fact that I have to explain this either means I completely missed the mark with this video or you're completely taking it the wrong way. Most of the comments would say people understood the message here. I'm not gonna lie, I'm completely bummed out if you took from this video that I'm done and moving on because that's not at all what I was trying to get across in this video.
@@RetroRalph I didn’t take it that you were quitting completely-you said you weren’t. And look, it’s totally your right to do what you want with your life, whether that mean slowing a hobby down or moving on altogether. But it is…it would be like…Roger Ebert telling his followers, “You know, this movie thing is getting a little old. Maybe I’ll begin trying something else.” To all his followers, it would be like…what the flip?
@@Mr.Pacario Well, I appreciate the feedback nonetheless but maybe in the future I will approach topics like this in a different way. Thanks again for taking the time to watch and comment.
@@RetroRalph ya I have to do that because of space. Makes it hard when you love to play all 3 and a good one is up for sale😂😂 have a great weekend brother!!
I’ve got just a couple dedicateds I’m happy to keep, then three multicades of dedicated driving, general, and light gun. And really the rest can go, realistically. Most of the journey was finding them, fixing them, and enjoying them with friends for a bit. I’m almost at end game and very happy to be there. Other things to do in life and a limited amount of time in the day to “just do what I want to do”. Enjoy them for what they are, move them when they start to collect too much dust. Hit up the barcade if the itch for more comes around.
LOL, I'm not quitting, just slowing things down a bit. I love this too much to quit. At some point, I'm sure I will, but I got a good 5 years in me at least. But if I decide to hang it up for good as far as TH-cam goes, I won't leave without saying goodbye and the reasons why I'm leaving. So you guys are stuck with me for a little bit longer...haha. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel.
One of the biggest pitfalls in collecting: expansion overtakes enjoyment. Once you get a year into something, ask yourself what’s your end game? What are you building toward? Look at your space and give yourself a cutoff cap. Otherwise you’ll be chasing the rabbit forever.
I think it makes sense to limit a collection, since beyond a certain point, you just wind up diluting the personal value of each individual machine. I think the hobby is more about "collecting" than "having", since ultimately regardless of circumstances, everyone is limited by space to some degree, so if you keep everything, you eventually must stop adding new ones. Personally, aside from the annual home arcade tour, I don't pay an awful lot of attention to which machines are in Ralph's collection anyway, and mostly I focus on whatever machine(s) is the focus of the video, even if it's at a trade show or something. To the audience, the machines are set decoration.
I'd have potentially put a bid in on MsPac/Galaga 20th if shipping across the county wasn't a headache :). That's one my son likes. Gotta work within the space you have. Glad to hear you're doing great! Keep it up, Ralph!
Oh man, I wish I knew, sorry brother. Kim was actually upset that I got rid of that one.... She's usually indifferent, but she's a big fan of Ms Pac-Man and Galaga, mostly for nostalgic reasons. Anyhow, I hope all is well, and I appreciate you watching and always supporting the channel.
@@RetroRalph Yeah. You had a really nicely cared for example of that one. I hope you got top dollar! The part my son liked the most was the "secret" codes to unlock Pac-Man or put the game into fast mode. It's like he was getting away with something :). Too much fun. Thanks, Ralph!
It’s not just you! We see a lot less content creation about pinball/arcades/whatever. The truth is ppl are paddling back which means companies will close, a lot of machines for sale going down on value, ppl getting rid of their collections! I did the same as you 6 months ago and now I’m focusing on simplify, no more restoring pins, getting out more often, doing sports, riding my bike…and enjoying my only 2 left pins!
I feel you; moved from Europe to South East Asia 2 years ago, sold my whole collection with few exceptions; once here, as a collector you naturally start to pick up stuff again. It gets out of hand pretty quick
Must be something in the air, im at same crossroad where its more abouts quality cabs, than quantity. Best of luck to ya Ralph! I swore the pinball bug bit ya!!
I did the same thing for similar reasons. I always phrase it as "I sold all my games" *still has four games, way more than normal, sane people have "but it FEELS like they're all gone" lol. Definitely feels like my mental clarity improved and can just focus on what makes you happy.
Sadly enough I can totally relate as my basement has all these home pinball and arcade machines making a lot of chaos and unfinished projects. I'll miss your content but understand your dilemma and fully support your decision.
Man, I can just imagine how many games you've probably cycled through over the years. Thanks so much for watching bud! I hope all is well, will I see you this year at the ammusment expo? I think I'm going to go both days for the expo part. Should be fun!
I definitely understand your decision very well, I had, again, some off-time from the arcade too. Its absolutely how you described it, things can get out of hand VERY quickly. You see an add online of a game you dont have and then there is the "thats my chance, I have to get it" mind in your head :D I have 2 pinballs and about 35 cabs, most of them still unrestored, placed all around my house and at an storage area. I only have a small room where 10 cabs are waiting to get played ( well only 8 are working right now ). I also made a list of my cabs I want to keep, the one im not sure to keep or sell and which can absolutely go --> focus to your fav games. And yeah, there are a few more games i would love to own, but space, the biggest problem. Finding a cheap rental space not only for storing but for some playtime too is non existent here.
I have a similar situation with statues. No more space. Sometimes you have to take a hard look at your stuff and go full mari kondo "does this make me happy?" It.
i get it, between restoration and fixing the ones that just broke, and the space issues, i wouldn’t want one big arcade either. as a guy living in a small space, i honestly would just want a prebuilt MiSTercade cabinet with all the controls in one thing (trackball, knob, tempest spinner, dual sinden lightguns), load up all the roms i’d need, and be done with it. maybe also get a vpin. i heard that tw@games, in between destroying any hope of ever seeing ms. pac man again and making bad plug and plays, pulled a madcatz making a surprisingly great fightstick and actually made a really good home arcade machine.
Well, it seems my priorities have done a little shifting, that's for sure. I'm glad you're still loving my content! Thanks for understanding and sending best wishes all the way from Germany!
Im in midst of selling a few pinball & arcades. Tax tine is best time to sell. I read a decade ago from an oldskool collector or hobbiest that these are only machines & selling is good to do so not only do you get your money back or more but you obtain space & it goes to someone else who will appreciate it more. But I worked too hard to set my bsmt & garage up to sell off mote than the room I have so Im still keeping most with a goal to open up an actual arkade. I feel most of the ganes I will never find & definitely not be able to afford as prices are triple what I mostly paid. I also have a few YT channels, this one Monsta' Kore Arkade is all about arkades. I enjoy creating content & building my media. I feel YT is just getting started & its really the best way to watch anything! Catch your breathe & enjoy life all. 🎮🦾
4:00 Collecting is 100% about the hunt. Vast majority of physical media collectors like bluray do not ever come close to watching their entire collection. Dudes will literally have 100 movies in a collection that will never get watched.
I find it interesting that everyone has stopped. Including myself. But no one noticed it. But yeah just how it is. Life happens and I wasn't getting the excitement from doing the videos that no one was watching really or wanting to see original games or lost media. So that was my reason to take a stop to it. I love showing my stuff off but no one was wanting to come over and check it out as well which another reason. Just felt like crap.. But I still love working on this stuff and collecting mostly PCB's now unless that one game shows up, then I am done collecting for now. But if I am not getting any feedback. Then No reason to Continue. Good on you Ralph! Keep it up and don't need to Burn yourself out.
I had one goal in mind when I started picking up cabs, I wanted to find a UMK3. I told Myself that that would be enough and that I would be Happy. I ended up struggling to find one for a decent price and stumbled upon a Primal Rage. That then led to the complete obsession of finding the other machine. One after another, I ended up with MK, MKII, MK3, UMK3, MK4, Killer Instinct, Primal Rage, Tekken 5, The Goonies, Neo Geo 4 Slot Big Red, Wrestle War, Devastators, Deer Hunter, and Simpsons Bowling. It got to the point where I Wouldn't even turn them on because I was worried that a monitor would die or a power supply would go out, and that became a stress of its own. I ended up selling every last one of them. Even though it still bums me out from time to time that they are gone, I don't necessarily miss them all that much. I have a cab that I built now running an emulator to just play some of my favorites and I am Happy.
I just got an Aerosmith and had to sell lots of arcade 1ups to make space and money, then of course that was like 1/10th of the cost of the machine haha. And now I want Jaws or Foo Fighters, can’t decide!
2)MOONWALKER...The PCB alone is worth some big coin!. good replay value..eeeEEEE. hhhEEEEEEE!..
3)AFTER BURNER COCKPIT...(probably the rarest one in your collection and a hand full left in existance!)
"although some games can be rare and worth money,..if you want them back, im sure youll find it again",.

Great talk Ralph. I appreciate the authenticity.
Thanks man, I really appreciate that!
You can always make money & buy stuff but you cannot get back time. My motto bro
🎮🦾
Thanks brother, it for sure feels good!
Thanks man, I really appreciate the kind words and the support!
Tired from all the tiktok dance routines going on in those places?
@@davec.3129 never made one.
I think... haha. I mean, I still gotta find that Varkon. ;-)
Good to hear, can't wait!!!@@RetroRalph
That's fantastic news! It's important in life to have balance and only collect the things that bring us much joy. I agree 100% as a content creator it's important for us to do what we enjoy as for a lot of us this is a hobby. Thanks for the great content you continue to provide and I really like the new direction your channel is taking.
Congrats on your pre-spring cleaning! You have been a great source on content but I am glad you have decided to focus on enjoying your time gaming too. I disagree with leaving without Outrun, except if you kept Outrun 2! Take care and thank you for sharing your Arcade journey with us.
Hey Ralph! Great video, love your channel. I totally understand where you’re coming from. Keep on doing what makes you happy 👍
What's up dude!!! It's been a while brother! I hope all is well, ya made me smile seeing you in the comments. I hope life is treating you and your lady well, and I hope you have a great weekend!
@@RetroRalph thanks dude! Hope you enjoy the weekend also!
several times I exclaimed 'you sold that?!' as I'm going down the list, I even remember watching all the restoration/pickup vids for some of those! but hey even if you're slowing down I'll be sure to keep watching the content I do love me some arcade stuff!
Understandable, with space, and having stuff with relevance.
Been following for many years, keep with the content. Its a great channel dude!🤘
Looks like you caught the pinball bug. Same thing happened to me, once I got into pinball I sold most of my vids.
I have heard that A LOT from others. I don't know if I will ever go "full pinball" but I'm spending the most time playing pinball vs. Video Games. Time will tell I guess, right? Thanks so much for watching!
Great video and it's been awesome watching your channel change and evolve from the Arcade1Up days. Can we please get a tour of your setup now?
Good work, the old 'your things end up owning you' saying is very true.
Sounds like you recognized it as turning into a grind or being a grind, so nothing wrong with right sizing. We can get so focused with blinders on that we lose sight of what makes us happy. Glad you are happy now. Game on...
Right on brother and thanks so much for watching 🙏🏻
Again thank you for all you do and done
good to hear Ralph you are enjoying your lifestyle another way.
Looks like you’re stuck with me for now 😏
It was fun while it lasted-- best of luck to you, Ralph!

Ralph - "Hey guys I just bought 10 new pinball machines! "
I just thinned down my collection too. Sold 6 cabs.
What 6 did you sell, you have me curious.
It is an LCD, but it's a multicade, it's a RecRoomMasters cabinet running a PC build. Good eye dude... haha. Thanks for watching man!
RALPH WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT HOME BREW LIKE D2K / JUMPMAN RETURNS ETC ???
We need a video on what was kept!
Making room for pinball machines !
QUESTION ! - IN YOUR OPINION RALPH WHAT IS THE BEST PANDORAS BOX ALL AROUND ?
As of right now I would say the DX with the Pandory Tool to fix all the broken stuff or the Pandora 10-year anniversary. I'm not sure if the Pandory tool supports it yet but if it does, that would be a great option too. I hope this helps!
Ralph feels good about selling part of his collection because now he knows he's got room to fit more arcades lol😂 I know I been there
You're kinda being a bad influence right now man...
That's really cool Matt! Thanks so much for watching brother.
I blame Todd for just about everything, so I can get behind that logic... haha.
You are totally right, sometimes the search and getting the stuff becomes a hobby of itself. You did right def, sometimes less is def more :)
Fantastic video man. I feel what you're saying 100%.
Appreciate it brother! Part of our conversation the other day really inspired me to talk about this.
I love how TH-camrs reel people into the (expensive) hobby only to then suddenly back out and say, "Yeah, no longer for me." Wah wah wah.
Maybe I’ll begin trying something else.”
To all his followers, it would be like…what the flip?
@@Mr.Pacario Well, I appreciate the feedback nonetheless but maybe in the future I will approach topics like this in a different way. Thanks again for taking the time to watch and comment.
I love restoring arcades as well. But I always try to keep it at 3 games or less at a time!
That's really smart man, I feel like too man just gets overwhelming, well, for me at least. Thanks so much for watching and have a great weekend!
At least we got a semi goodbye video. John’s arcade channel was basically open one day, boarded up the next.
Glad your at peace , end of an era with T2 gone , glad you keep area 51
Nice!! I sold 4 last week - space was the biggest issue for me
I feel you; moved from Europe to South East Asia 2 years ago, sold my whole collection with few exceptions; once here, as a collector you naturally start to pick up stuff again. It gets out of hand pretty quick
Must be something in the air, im at same crossroad where its more abouts quality cabs, than quantity. Best of luck to ya Ralph! I swore the pinball bug bit ya!!
Yeah that pinball bug is a bitch... haha. Thanks so much for watching man!
Sorry to hear this. Really love what you do.
I know the pain - especially the War: Final Assault and my 6-player X-Men. Loved the games but no one played it and they broke down all the time :(
Man, I can just imagine how many games you've probably cycled through over the years. Thanks so much for watching bud! I hope all is well, will I see you this year at the ammusment expo? I think I'm going to go both days for the expo part. Should be fun!
hell yeah brother. here for the journey
also lol at the mason cameo
LOL, let's face it, everyone loves a good Mason Cameo ;-)
Thanks for watching brother! I hope all is well man! Congrats on that ridiculous Venom score, now I have to keep playing... haha.
You do you man, life is short, game it up!🤘
Damn straight brother, have a great weekend, and thanks for watching!
You do you Ralph. Take care man.
Thanks for watching brother!
i get it, between restoration and fixing the ones that just broke, and the space issues, i wouldn’t want one big arcade either. as a guy living in a small space, i honestly would just want a prebuilt MiSTercade cabinet with all the controls in one thing (trackball, knob, tempest spinner, dual sinden lightguns), load up all the roms i’d need, and be done with it. maybe also get a vpin. i heard that tw@games, in between destroying any hope of ever seeing ms. pac man again and making bad plug and plays, pulled a madcatz making a surprisingly great fightstick and actually made a really good home arcade machine.
Still loving your content, but totally understand that you changed your priorities.
Best wishes from Germany
Well, it seems my priorities have done a little shifting, that's for sure. I'm glad you're still loving my content! Thanks for understanding and sending best wishes all the way from Germany!
I’m sad you sold your Big Blue 😢
Great video Ralph, whatever makes u happy is the route to take.
I did notice that both Food Fight and Robotron made the cut.
Imagine that. 😎😄
Well as "Charley Chunk himself" you can understand why Food Fight clearly stays ;-) Thanks for watching bud! I hope all is well!
I've been reducing what I own as well. I completely get your mentality.
Wait wasn't the afterburner cockpit the one you played with your Grandfather?
It is but sadly, it's just too dang big man. 😞
Will this help fund another pinball machine? 😊
Maayyyyyyybe... haha. Thanks for watching man, it's much appreciated! I also apprecaite you taking the time to comment!
I just got an Aerosmith and had to sell lots of arcade 1ups to make space and money, then of course that was like 1/10th of the cost of the machine haha. And now I want Jaws or Foo Fighters, can’t decide!
Aw man I was really digging the big blue, Galaga and X-men in your collection. But I see an X-men in the back playing Ralph which cab is that?
The X-Men in the back is actually a Multicade. It's a recroommasters cabinet running a PC with a bunch of games preloaded.
