    The axle shaft has left the truck!
    MM seems to be having fun. You may want to call Robbie and complain that he installed defective bolts in the steering box.
    The axle threw a teen age tantrum on the trail!

    HOLLIE think back to when "Lizzie" drove up that impossible trail did not make any noise, did not spin the tires, did not lose traction, now think to the events and noises leading up to the events with the stering box and axel . Fine muscle throttle control is the key, too much power = tire spin & loss of traction and broken things . Tiny incriments of throttle = more control.
    Also events that break things can be mitigated if less power is applied prior to the break event. This controll comes with experience and practice, just say to yourself slow gets the job done it is not a nascar event and less equipment failure = more money remaining in your pocket.

    Couple things. How are you breaking steering box bolts? I’m guessing you are using grade 8 or at least grade 5. Only thing I can think of is something in your steering is sending lots of force up your drag link to your sector shaft and that’s not going so your box is tweaking. Second, that guys voice who told you how to break your shaft is awesome!

  • @Fix_It_Again_Tony
    @Fix_It_Again_Tony 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    In this episode we learn about the strength of bolts in both shear and tension.
    That steering bolt looked like an 8.8, so not high strength (although it was a bit hard to tell), but I would be surprised if the axle shaft bolts weren't already high strength, grade 8 or class 10.9 if they are metric.

    • @MischiefMakerTV
      @MischiefMakerTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @briancraig4411
      @briancraig4411 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am curious if anyone actually torqued the bolts... most of the channels I see they just slam the impact a couple times and think it is good enough. The problem with that is first the torque isn't the same, and the pressure on the bolts are not equally distributed across all the fasteners. So that causes "unusual breaks", so please check them bolts with a torque wrench with the proper torque specs, and high quality/strength bolts.
