  • Framing this 40' container, one piece at a time! It's all coming together a little slower than I had originally hoped, but still looking fantastic! Electrical & plumbing will be the next video along with other stuff to get ready for drywall.

    I know the bottom plate on the framing is attached to the container but what about the upper part of the framing? Or do you just rely on the ceiling joist to keep it in place which seems like that would be enough.

    Check out Pacific Pines Ranch. They used a small sand blaster from Harbor Freight to clean the welding slag and paint in those hard to reach areas. She tells you just what tools they used for cutting and cleaning metal in one video. They also cut out the center of the container doors and inserted glass. Gave them outward swinging glass doors. Good video showing how they did it. But maybe not a good idea if you are going to be moving the container. Liking your channel and subscribed today. Thanks for sharing.

    Awesome build thanks for posting, in your next video can you show how you attached the bucking to the frame of the window. I’m doing a container build very similar to yours used the same method for framing, I’m having leaking issues.

    How did you secure the frame to the container? Anchor the bottom only? Sides? I'm curious because I'm struggling with that part right now. Looks great!

    Do you screw the wood to the metal at all? or you just "squeeze" the wood to the edges ?

    • @carlycfs
      @carlycfs 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I knowwww !!! I have the same question. I've watched this video like 20 times to see if I missed how he attached the framing to the wall and/or to the floor? Did he use caulking?? Did he nail the bottom of the framing through the actual container floor? Or did he use screws ?

    • @Jugg215
      @Jugg215 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did one and attached at the bottom then the ceiling joists are screwed in to the tops of the frame.

    Greetings from Chile, what kind of wood did u use in the frames? 1x4? 2x3? Thanks

  • @ecaryn.
    @ecaryn. 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Might I suggest should you decide to repeat this project in the future that you reverse the facing direction of your angle iron framing. Since you are framing and drywalling the inside... having the wider, framed edge of the angle iron on the outside will give you a better finished look on the exterior and the gap modifications will be inside thus hidden by your interior cladding. Looking forward to watching your build.

    How did you fasten the studs across the ceiling to the wall framing? I’d like to do this for mine. Also, how did you design the floor plan? 👍

    • @thegreenguy8837

    • @AvidFilms
      @AvidFilms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Honestly I really thought about doing that! The two reasons why I didn't are:
      1. I was only going to be saving 4 inches total from side to side so I didn't think it would be worth it. ( approximately 13 sq ft if you consider the total legnth of container )
      2. All of my in wall plumbing harder to do with thinner walls.

    • @Jugg215
      @Jugg215 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Plumbing and electrical really need that 4 inch section.

    Is it possible to put the studs frame flat to save few inches of space.

    • @AvidFilms
      @AvidFilms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah people do that but you’re only saving a few inches. Then it makes running your water/drain/electrical lines harder so I chose to lose the space to make that aspect easier
