Case knives show up at yard sales and swap meets often, they have been making knives for decades. Like you mentioned, the value is mostly sentimental for old knives, pocket folders. Still, there are a growing number of Case knife collectors out there who would love to add that knife to their display. Never owned a Case knife but, l have browsed their website several times.
In any event, worth more than $5.00.
I would think a Case knife from that era would have high carbon steel, not stainless.
