Joe and Eric "ramble" for hours AND it is absolutely the best! I used to think Eric was an arrogant pompous ass. I have had a complete reversal on this. The man is compassionate and loves humanity with all of its achievements AND faults. His level of thought is far far beyond that of most highly intelligent people. And yet, he is not just wrapped up in some esoteric field of study to the exclusion of all else, but is looking at the world stage and assessing. Asking himself, Joe and others, how can we fix this? How can we back away from the edge of destruction we are rushing towards (on many fronts). Eric is a study in contrasts and a deeply complex human being. His decision tree examples show us how to think critically and actually separate emotions from the equation. Not that he would want the job, but a guy like Eric should be the one leading our country. This podcast is a must watch.

Absolutely the best guest you have on repeat. Insanely interesting man. I will say @powerfulJre and @ericweinsteinphd I once did a remote view while watching a local TV station with a physicist from Wilfred Laurier in Ontario, Canada walking the audience through the meditation and then asking generic questions . I had already messaged my wife to take a random picture and I'd explain when she got home. Hrs later after seeing her photo I was disappointed. But then she remembered she thought the photo was boring so she took 2. She then showed me the 1st photo and it was exactly as I had described. Down to the fact she was a passenger in moving vehicle, the smell of an Ice Cappacino her Dad was drinking, the angle of the tree line matching my sketch...etc. I had even emailed the sketch to myself and it's timestamped 3hrs before she took the photo. Crazy stuff...who knows???

My students and I did the math in astronomy class. At 25,000 miles per hour, it would take about 112,000 years to get to the nearest star. It is just basic algebra. Time dilation has zero effect until at least 50% the speed of light. (335,000 miles per hour). We need to go close (99%) the speed of light to make leaving the solar system viable. We are stuck here for a while unless we find a workaround.

I really REALLY enjoy (more than enjoy) listing to Eric Weinstein talk.
FOCUS UP: THE REASON, I love this man so much, is he is on the GROUND FLOOR of being "in the know" on world events. He is also one man who is welcomed into these Georgetown talk, debate, network, parties that can (sometimes) effect the world in so many ways.
In small ways by shifting, pulling, buying within the stock market. These men (mostly) know some of the REAL conspiracies and even had relatives and people they know personally who took part in experiments or have worked on these top government or shadow government experiments. He knows the top mathematicians, physicist, and engineers. Because of HIS intelligence and being part of the Harvard in crowd (in the know) HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT.. it's great. Even if I don't understand 20%-ish of what he's sayin'.
MY THEROY is WE are the one riding around in these weird antigravity controlled ships. A VERY small, but WELL funded, secretive group of people who have for the past FIFTY FREAKING YEARS HAVE BEEN pushing physics forward SO MUCH FORWARD, that if it was available to everyday people, provided they had the recourses to mass produce - IT WOULD CHANGE EVERYTHING. So much so that we'd think it's magic at first. Almost as if you brought a dead person (who died in the early 80"s) when microwaves were new, THAT NOW if they saw ALL the things a phone can do, they sure as fuck would have a hard time referring to "it" as "your phone."
This guy is "in the know" and it's fascinating to me just to hear him speak of what is discussed a teensy bit behind the curtain. Without a doubt the American public are like walking zombies. We have become like the batteries from the Matrix. We know so very little about the REAL world. Both political sides are full of shit.
I'll just say after listening to him, over and over, it really makes me worried for what's to come. More then likely nucellar (nuclear) Armageddon.

I suspect most of us wouldn't understand his answers if he did, irrespective of common vernacular through metaphor or pure specialized nomenclature. I don't think it's obfuscation or a deliberate elusive sophistry. They're just high order concepts and we, the audience aren't equipped with the requisite understanding to process what is being conveyed. That said, he lays out a whole bunch of launching pads for those of us willing to pause every other sentence and get a rudimentary understanding of what he's driving at. All down to a personal cost/benefit analysis of the value in investing the time to research and vet ones sources.

Eric gives you a story, a train of thought so you can answer it yourself.

@@mausperson5854Bro, hope you don’t take this as an insult but I’m willing to bet you don’t get invited back to any parties you attend. I’d further wager you think the more words you use in attempting to answer a question, the more correct you believe you are. But don’t let me dissuade… you be you bro.

14:02 As a person who lives near a busy road I am strongly opposed to them adding car noises to electric cars. I long for the day when the noise pollution is gone. I drive 2 cars; one electric and one with a manual transmission… the electric is miles more fun to drive.

These are things that I as a civilian ponder over. I so get his frustration as a civilian. I’m frustrated. Yes, there are civilians out there that actually think about this. I’m glad it’s not just me.

Eric Weinstein is my favorite "entertainer" ever, and he has got to be one the smartest people I have ever heard speak. I don't know how he remembers all of this stuff, but DAMN I wish I had even 1/2 the knowledge that he has!!!! Your best guest ever!!! And he's able to see, and explain things that all of my friends (science geeks) still think is impossible. I myself, have always known that we should be able to jump around the galaxy (and Galaxies)! We just need people that aren't stuck in the past with their thinking. And an educational system that is not affraid to see, and or learn something that may contradict the current way of thinking. (And I have told my friends that string theory is all bullshit! And they always tell me "You're just stuck in the past, and just don't understand. 🤐)

Eric Weinstein says that Ed Witten is soo much smarter than everyone else. I had an uncle that was a genius. He died (presumably) as a homeless person. My father, who was a simple guy, from a worker family, raised a doctor and an engineer through a lifetime of hard work, and sacrifice. So it's not always the geniuses that make the biggest impact on society.
I think we're looking at the man who is going to move physics to the next level.
I believe in You, Eric. I wish my kids had a professor like You, that could open their mind. And even if you don't move physics to the next level, maybe you unlock that level by motivating one of your students
