me too. brought back a lot of memories. live in england now but listen on radio and watch on sky. the reds are playing some great football and everything about the club looks so good. hope to bring my boys over to share in the league winning season. they are scousers but hope to show them some proper football. uuuureds!
I would like to recommend the book' The Home Internationals' Soccer Tournament, 1946-1984, A Complete Record' by the King of Trivia. Did you know incidentally that Peter McCusker went on to play for Ballymena and in February 1981 he collided with his former teammate John Platt, resulting in the latter being advised to give the game up.
Curious, the coincidences to the '79 F A Cup Final. Two red teams with the winner opting for a yellow and blue away kit scoring a last gasp winner in a 3-2 win. The major difference being that the losers in England came from 0-2 down to level not 1-2 as Portadown did.
Are any of these shirts actually still about? Like any of the NI clubs? They seem to be dead scarce! Seen Linfield, Glentoran and Portadown ones from thay era before, wondered if anyone has a pictorial record or an archive of the shirts.
@Graeme Johnston There may well have been Graeme if memory serves me correctly they had to keep their heads down. We were in the south stand the previous December at the Hennessy gold cup final V Portydown got beat on the pitch and attacked in the S stand.
Jim Alexander (RIP) who went on to become a CFC legend and Gold Cup Winner in 1981 scoring the equaliser for Portadown
