Even in TDWT it was clear in the marriage episode that he wanted to make Courtney jealous about Gwen. Courtney and Duncan are perfect for each other and remind me of an old married couple. However, I do feel like they need to mature FIRST and learn how to express themselves in a much healthier manner. Maybe in the future these two can be together and possibly be END GAME, but right now, they are just using other people (Gwen and Scott) to find self filament or pursue their own ambitions. 😒. Honestly, I prefer Duncan and Gwen as siblings. They are honestly too alike. Now I know that in some relationships it's great to have stuff in common, but in this case, they act like they're related. This is why I loved the Duncney ship! Courtney was able to control Duncan a bit more (however she was VERY controlling in the second season) and Duncan was able to help her be not as uptight as she was. Also Duncan REALLY missed courtney in season one. Remember when he carved a heart into her totem pole head. Anyways, I think that in a new season, Duncan should be released from prison and when he was locked up he thought about how he cheated on Courtney and felt bad and wanted her back. They both come back and ignore eachother at first but the pining is real and eventually they make up, date again and courtney is more relaxed and Duncan is nicer. I think that during Season 3, Courtney was always mad at Duncan & i think that affected him emotionally to the point where he did something he KNEW would hurt her back. enter gwen. he took full advantage of gwen’s feelings & used her. i’m willing to bet that despite his actions, he still loved courtney. he never stared at gwen like he did with courtney, he never said he loved gwen. & if you pay attention, 9 times out of 10, he only wants to kiss gwen when courtney is close by. Gwen was a tool. he was angry, & hurt. & because of that, he made a stupid decision in order to deal with it. he used gwen right from world tour all the way into all-stars. he was never over courtney. he proved that.
Also I think the end of season 2 with Courtney trying to change him and giving him that long letter ( her mistakes i do not agree with them either but no one is perfect) exhausted him and instead of resolving their problems, Duncan saw Gwen as a fresh breathe of air. But they were TOO ALIKE even for their own comfort, they were compatible as friends with the same interests and confused it with the romantic aspect. After a while it got boring but they did what they did and continued with it. Duncan was perfect with Courtney, they brought the best in each other and were on the same page ( same with Gwen and Trent). They were also teens and mistakes happen but i really wish they would make a reunion season and bring back these 2 couples( esp Duncney) and make them have a growth( Courtney lighting up a bit, not being so hard on herself and everyone, not trying to change Duncan and him not running from problems but rather solving them and growing up from his immature self). The way they were in TDI was perfect, all i wished was for Courtney not to be eliminated so fast and be able to showcase how strong of a competitor she is( as she demonstrated in TDA)

From what I know, the producers DIDN'T want to destroy Duncney and Gwent. It was the television/distributors that ordered them to, because the show was getting kinda boring according to them and they wanted more drama between the characters. That's why in season 2 they totally ruined Trent's character and made Duncney so toxic so the fans wouldn't miss them.

To be honest, Duncney was a lot better than Gwuncan, but I think Courtney was overboard and controlling with the letter thing. Duncan dealt with that in the worst way tho by cheating on her with Gwen, he saw her as an escape. Courtney had good intentions, but she was obviously insecure especially with how close Gwen and Duncan were in total drama action, further more in world tour. I do think Duncan likes if not loves Courtney, and Gwen is a distraction but both Courtney and Gwen deserve better than Duncan. Once a cheater always a cheater. Gwen and Courtney's friendship is more important.

My take on the love triangle is: Duncan never loved Gwen, sure they were good friends and cared about each other, but after all the abuse he delt with from Courtney(as someone who's faced servere emotional abuse, several lines from Courtney make me very uncomfortable). Duncan literally sometimes even shows fear around her. Gwen was an opportunity, an opportunity to escape. And sure, yeah he still cheated, but just look at them in TDA, I absolutely doubt Courtney would have let him leave. Gwen was able to get Courtney away from him, but Duncan was still obsessed with her, I think that Duncan used Gwen to get away from Courtney.

I have to admit, I only watched Total Drama Island and not any of the later seasons (which looked not-so-great from the ads), but just from TDI alone, Duncan's and Courtney's characters are best suited for each other as a romantic couple. Duncan's and Gwen's characters are more brother-sister-like.
Duncan is just a player who wants what he cant have. I do believe though he has miles more chemistry with Courtney than with Gwen. He wants to be with courtney but cant stand it long term, so the opposite of courtney(gwen) starts looking more attractive to him. Either way I feel none of them were meant to be with eachother.

From what I know, the producers DIDN'T want to destroy Duncney and Gwent. It was the television/distributors that ordered them to, because the show was getting kinda boring according to them and they wanted more drama between the characters. That's why in season 2 they totally ruined Trent's character and made Duncney so toxic so the fans wouldn't miss them.
@@arshieee Yeah, I read that the producers didn't want them to breakup. That's why Courtney's character was kinda bad in season 2. I still loved her though but a lot people grew to hate her in that season. I love how they forced them to break up but in All stars he suddenly has feelings for Courtney again and Gwen and Duncan break up. Like what was the point of any of this ever happening? I wonder if it was the producers low key taking control of their show back. Since they never wanted Gwuncan to begin with.

To be honest, Duncney was a lot better than Gwuncan, but I think Courtney was overboard and controlling with the letter thing. Duncan dealt with that in the worst way tho by cheating on her with Gwen, he saw her as an escape. Courtney had good intentions, but she was obviously insecure especially with how close Gwen and Duncan were in total drama action, further more in world tour. I do think Duncan likes if not loves Courtney, and Gwen is a distraction but both Courtney and Gwen deserve better than Duncan. Once a cheater always a cheater. Gwen and Courtney's friendship is more important.

My take on the love triangle is:
Duncan never loved Gwen, sure they were good friends and cared about each other, but after all the abuse he delt with from Courtney(as someone who's faced servere emotional abuse, several lines from Courtney make me very uncomfortable). Duncan literally sometimes even shows fear around her. Gwen was an opportunity, an opportunity to escape. And sure, yeah he still cheated, but just look at them in TDA, I absolutely doubt Courtney would have let him leave. Gwen was able to get Courtney away from him, but Duncan was still obsessed with her, I think that Duncan used Gwen to get away from Courtney.

I have to admit, I only watched Total Drama Island and not any of the later seasons (which looked not-so-great from the ads), but just from TDI alone, Duncan's and Courtney's characters are best suited for each other as a romantic couple. Duncan's and Gwen's characters are more brother-sister-like.

I can see why people like Duncan and Courtney, but I feel like after season one their relationship lost all of its appeal and Gwen and Duncan have some of the most fun interations out of all of the other characters.
I totally agree that Gwen and Duncan have great interactions, as friends. I think that Gwen and Duncan would make AMAZING besties, but I think he's better with Court relationship wise.
