Its hilarious looking back at how the Gamer Girl game concept actually got executed and it was done well, mainly cause it was pretty transparent on how that whole scene goes.
Well I’m pretty sure it’s a horror game based on the end and it’s a very cool concept in my opinion.

the story about the Kennedy daughter was not alone, early mental health treatments and institutions were just so riddiculously fucked up. Charlie should watch videos about them.

the post rapture simulator thing actually sounds awesome, like a post apocalyptic survival game but instead of a nuke or zombie virus its the rapture, you could even tie in some demon killing or something

My grandmother had some of them when i was younger and i remember having to keep myself from laughing at the scene where everyone gets raptured bc they all just vanished out of their clothes with a stock trumpet sound in the background.

Funnily Illusion has put out one of my favorite AO games. AA2, which I occasionally still play while watching stuff or playing more idle or turn based games. Course this is the only game by Illusion I play.
They're also behind Koikatsu, which is just amazing if you ask me.
As far as I could tell, Koei Tecmo's statements about why they wouldn't release Xtreme 3 was total bullshit. There was barely any reactions to the game at all. It did, however, have very poor sales outside Japan. Xtreme 1 sold around 500k units outside Japan, Xtreme 2 sold half that. "People think it's so controversial we can't deal with the backlash" is just a convenient excuse for not bringing it over.
We have hubs and 34s, why would we need to get that from a videogame? The niche that just has a thing for that delivery method is too small to justify any decent budget.

I always thought the doa extreme games should be like a side minigame thing in the mainline doa games like tekken bowling. It’s kinda boring for a 60 game on its own but as a mini game in a solid 60 dollar fighting game it’s ok
I bet the games just THAT good. The company decided the world is not ready for such a realistic, interactive, and beautifully crafted game. Their hoarding it to themselves. Indulging until they are no more. Lucky bastards.
They made the game a lot more interesting, playable, and made the difficulty feel a little more manageable. Fuck destruction physics were mapped amazingly well for the fact that it was initially a top-down style game. Story wasn't anything to look twice at though

I think it's funny how the media said that Night Trap and Mortal Kombat were considered to be too violent back in the 90s, which MK makes complete sense, but there were other FMV videogames that were way more violent. I'm sure many in the comments have heard of Phantasmagoria.

drakengard (drag on dragoon) is SUCH a messed up game series. basically the first game is about a bunch of morally corrupted people trying to save the world. guy who gouges his eyes out because he can't help feeling intimate feelings towards young children (meanwhile there is a LITERAL 5 y/o in your party), serial killer, woman who sneaks into houses and eats babies, etc. the female lead is also in love with her brother and thinks about him intimately and is pressured into marrying her brother's best friend after her brother does not reciprocate her feelings.
drakengard 3 is all about the murder of a group of girls birthed of a destructive flower with various vices rooted in containing their flower. one girl makes furniture out of human children. another r-words young boys to satiate her desires, but her young charges only fall in "love" with her once she is killed and reanimated as a corpse.
the games have a really interesting moral undertone- only because these people are as much villains as they are the heroes trying to save their world- but the game plays with such dark undertones and alignments. the most messed up part- these people are revered by the masses. the nier games are a less messed-up sequel, but they are still very emotionally complex and draining.
The first game's gameplay concept is actually interesting. Using irl cam footage for the scenes.
The "Magic Bullet" achievement in Kennedy Reloaded was literally impossible to get without Grassy Knoll hacks
