Who you date is really none of my business in general but the community keeps trying to make it my business. See the distinction? I'm a person of faith but I don't need to advertise it with logos or colors or talking to everyone about it all the time. If they want to hear, that's fine. I'll sit down with an individual.

@@user-wh5ir4fo4r the month is in remembrance of the numerous hateful attacks and killings of people for being part of the lgbt+ community, and the subsequent push back by the community through protests and riots. It's a celebration of those people who gave their lives to make it possible for lgbt+ people now to have basic human rights. It's akin to a celebration of veterans, people who gave their life for an ideal. So, are you against veteran month as well? Are you against the celebration of the liberation of people of color in the US, or the remembrance of heroes like MLK? Are you against all of that?
If you are not, but still think pride should not exist, then you should probably spend soem time to think about why this celebration specifically makes you angry. If celebrating human resilience andcourage is fine as long as they are not gay, that's not a matter of dislike or distaste, it's prejudice.

I'm a non-binary bisexual living in Russia, celebrating pride online and by hanging out with my bestie, I also wear pins with my flags, good thing that nobody here,at least in my town, knows anything but the rainbow (unless they're queer themselves) so I don't get shamed/bullied or worse for it. There are (almost) no more queer books on the shelfs,I have bought a few before the relativrly recent laws were enforced. And yet "Good omens" is still sailing, perhaps bigots just think the main characters are just "very good friends" lol.
I had to order my pins online from another country, btw.
The laws so far (cos they can get worse) don't affect me too much,I still can live and have fun as before so the biggest problem for me right now is my father. My mom is relatively phobic too but far less than him and she's far more understanding, getting more accepting of the new things year by year, she's mostly just not informed enough and no used to queerness, she's alright with gays existing but she reeeeeally wants grandkids so when she found out I'm bi she was mad cos she was afraid that she wouldn't get any :p Even though I'm dating an opposite sex person for 4 years now (2 years back then but still). I can see her becoming supportive eventually :) I love her and she supports me in literally everything else, including me being goth with all the heavy make up, she lets me wear whatever (I'm 20) while my father (I'm afab) was yelling at me for wearing a corset even though it was on top of a long sleeve shirt with no cleavage and I had long pants too. He said that I looked very vulgar and he wouldn't let mw go outside,I was 18 back then. He even called my mom expecting her to support him but she didn't even understand what was the issue😂 My father is irredeemable in my eyes cos he's sexist, homophobic and transphobic, hates plenty nationalities, claims he's not racist cos he likes one black and one chinese actors while he still says plenty racist stuff, he hates on all religions that aren't christian and obvi justifies his hatred for the queers with his religion. He always thinks he's right and that he can't possibly make mistakes,he always starts arguments for no reason and overall I only still am attached to the version of him that I knew and loved as a kid, the current him only awakens negative feelings in me.
Sorry for this essay of a rant, just wanted to share some things in a safe space❤

But the most fun part was on our way out-my daughter found a large Pride flag that someone had left there and she tucked the ends under her backpack straps to turn it into a cape. On our way out, we saw our first group of protesters waving signs with Bible verses at the festival-goers, and next to them was a music group that was part of the Pride event. So not wanting to pass up an opportunity to troll the protesters, we didn’t just walk past them-we _danced_ past them to the music that was playing and pretended to be totally oblivious to the protesters! To make it even better, another bystander shouted at the protesters right then, “Do you feel good about what you’re doing right now?!” We didn’t hear the answer, but you know we were laughing like loons all the way back to my car! 😈

It may be hard being LGBT+ in a world that is still very heteronormative (and monosexist), but it is SO important that we have each other, allies and the community in general, regardless of how we identify, to lift each other up in support and love when those who are hateful bring us down- they may try, but they will never succeed. Love from a panromantic bisexual person! Enjoy what's left of Pride (and allies, I see you and thank you). Going to my first Pride event on Sunday at 29 years old, and the self-confidence, with the help of many support groups and my affirming church, made loving and respecting my identity possible to feel comfortable enough to go and volunteer for my church. I also still think it’s ridiculous that Christians still think being gay means going to hell. I know there where only like 100,000 people back then so reproduction was a serious problem
But even being straight back then was considered to be unnatural. Since they thought it was only ok to be like that to reproduce
But there’s plenty of straight people that are active in relationships and still have a lot of love to give and people don’t seem too upset about that
Then again I tried telling some of my bi and pan friends that “I feel bad since I don’t think there’s a healthy environment for this kind of stuff yet” and some people listening thought I was homophobic or portraying gay people as being violent which also isn’t true so maybe I’m another idiot
I feel like people aren’t so much debating about right or wrong anymore, but more so debating on how to make the world more enjoyable. And honestly I quite like that more but it’s a really weird situation to be in since we’re so used to black and white thinking that if we don’t understand or care about something we immediately think it’s a bad thing
It’s weird because I feel like I can’t even joke about these things right now because I wouldn’t even know how to go about it
As long as no one’s getting hurt I don’t care what you do with your private life

I remember in 2019, there was a first Pride march organised in one of the towns in Poland, called Białystok. The people marching there were attacked and chased down by people who just wanted to hurt them, and a lot of arrests were made afterwards, but the event itself shook the entire LGBTQ+ community here in Poland. I immediately thought of it after the intro here.

I truly feel much sympathy and empathy for my sisters and brothers in the LGBTQ+ community in repressive countries. I know how you feel, because I was once right there with you. I'm a black/mixed race transgender woman who is a US American and retired years ago. I am 73 years of age now and i needed to escape the US because I was tired of fighting the covert as well as the overt hostility that existed around me every single day of my life and I needed relief. When my circumstances were finally right I made my escape to Latin America and eventually settled in Mexico where every day feels like a dream. I have more safety and peace of mind then I could have dreamed possible. I am now a legal resident of Mexico and can apply for permanent residency in just under four years. This took me a life time to accomplish, but i say to all of you who are currently living under oppresive circumstances please don't give up, that's what the bigots want you to do. Work hard and figure out your escape plan you can do it and be safe.

The more that time goes by, the less likely I can see myself ever going to my first pride. When I realized that I was queer I would wear the paraphernalia related to my identities and would display them out in public quite a lot, but slowly and surely I have lessened wearing anything prideful (even when it's not June) because of the area I live in. I live in a small rural town in the South, and although I do absolutely hate the conception that Southerners aren't accepting or that there aren't queer Southerners, there is intolerance in the area I specifically live in, and no, I cannot move, I'm too poor to do that nor do I feel like I have to be the one to do so. I did go to a drag queen event back in 2021, but drag performances have been banned in my State (though there was plenty of talk about removing the ban) and any "male and female impersonators" are to be reported, which automatically lumps in visible trans people, so someone like me and everyone else who I know that is trans; friend or stranger. I want to be hopeful, I want to go to my first ever pride without risking being shot, but to be honest it may end up taking more than our current peaceful protests to change anything and to secure our safety and rights. And that's *not* me saying that I don't think those kinds of protests *aren't* working, because there has been just a few instances of State laws against queer people being lifted because of them, but things are still quite shit.
