I just purchased this radio based on yours and others reviews but it arrived DOA. I returned it and Im afraid Im not willing to risk another purchase on a no-name, made in china brand radio. I'll stick with Tecsun, Eton or one of the other reputable brands. I understand this can happen to any company but I dont trust these chinese made things that you see a bunch of on Amazon that look identical other than maybe color and a different weird name that I've never heard of. If you got one that works and you like it, that's great. Didn't happen for me. Its hard to fins a good shortwave radio that also does NOAA weather bands. Thanks for the great videos and keep up the great reviews. I'll check out some more to help me decide on what I will purchase.

Thanks for this informative review. Nice to see how it performs before you buy one. I agree with another comment here that this radio really needs to have SSB. It is IMHO a more desired feature than some of the wizardry they have going on here. Maybe in a future version they will decide to add it & make it the complete package

On smaller radio with flimsy antennae, I always try to raise and lower the antenna one element at a time and always from the bottom. I have seen people push down, breaking the antenna off from the top. This radio does look interesting, and seems to have a lot of features. And of course, you’ve actually got access to a battery pack that you could never have replaced because it is so peculiar.

With the difference that it really works and you dont have to use your imagination. The HanRongDa one has that even more, they used the stupidest cheap colors they could find. I allmost bought one today, but the look of it kept me from doing it. I wonder if it also feels like that, or it feels decent. SDR Dongle(s).
On an android phone with an RF Analyzer app for all band if you want portable. The dongles are capable of receiving all frequencies from 500Khz (LW) all the way up to 1.7Ghz (Satellite).
SDR Angel will let you track all the aircraft (on a MAP) in your reception range, and there's even places that you can pull their Takeoff and Landing times.
If you have an old laptop (or any free computer) use SDR Console for all band, which will *_also_* give you weather satellite tracking. With 2 or more dongles you can use a program called SDR Trunk that will give you a fully functional P25 Digital Scanner. (mine runs on an old laptop and it's on 24/7)
The Dongles are under $40 each, and all the software is free.
It takes a bit of learning with some of it, but once you've figured it out, it's an AWESOME indulgence into radio listening!!

There's also a lot of video's available on all the software.
