I've been doing this for months and it has changed my life. I don't even train BJJ anymore but now I bike without pain, run without pain, and box without pain. And the soreness in my back is gone.
Alexios! Thank you so much for letting me know. Honestly, hearing this kind of feedback makes me incredibly happy knowing that the content is helping people like you. I've heard many people mention about the benefit to the back too. Now I'll just have to make another to take it even further! Be sure to let your training partners know to. Thank you again, extremely grateful for the comments
@@owenthomas9863 Not sure to be honest! I just wanted to do other things as well e.g, boxing, kickboxing, mechanical engineering, jazz piano, drawing, running, hunting. BJJ is great though and I could see myself getting back to it.
I just listened to your podcast, which is what lead me to these videos... both great resources! I thought I had pretty decent hip mobility until trying these stretches. Turns out, I've got a lot of work to do! The Frog Squat and Seated Knee Rotations were bloody tough! I couldn't get my feet flat like you do on the Frog Squat, which meant I sat pretty high. And I couldn't get my knees past 45° on the Seated Knee Rotation before feeling super tight. I'll be coming back to this video daily until I'm happy with my mobility. OSSS!
Ryan Morse Hi Ryan - thank you so much for letting me know and also taking the time to watch and listen!! Really appreciate it. It’s a constant battle for me to, but bit by bit, it gets easier and easier. Feels great too. I love the frog squat when chilling in front of the TV at night. Great exercise. Let me know how you get on
Sweet! I just logged on the computer with the intention of looking up something to help my hips and I saw your post on Facebook. Glad to find this resource!
Thanks Jonathan. Appreciate the kind words. Hope the exercises work out for you. Let me know if they make a difference. Loads more ideas and videos to come
I really appreciate this video! My bjj game has gotten better because of the ease of being able to position my hips legs easier. My flexibility has increased tremendously since starting this.
When I first went from Judo to BJJ these type of stretches made the largest difference. My legs lacked this flexibility and this was huge. Great stuff !
Thanks man. Very helpful. Ive transistioned from bodybuilding to BJJ and hip mobility has been a big issue. Looking forward gaining a bit of mobility. I Thanks legend
I started bjj four days ago and today I can really feel my right hip/groin area getting super tight and uncomfortable. This is really helping! thank you!!
This is awesome. I am about 7-months post surgery for a torn labrum + FAI in my R-hip. After only 2 weeks of 2x / week, I feel this routine is really helping me get my tightness down and range of motion up. The only thing that really feels iffy for me is the cossack squats: I can't yet smoothly transition off the ball of my foot like you do, without losing my balance and feeling a lot of tightness in my groin.
Hualun Shi thank you so much!! That really means a lot. Amazing if you can share it amongst friends. Let me know if there are other videos you’d like to see
Just did it for the first time. Being a complete klutz, it’s going to take me a few embarrassing sessions at the gym before I get that glute switch motion down. Haha. Thanks for the tips.
MMMM man!! That’s so great to hear. I love the frog too. Because it’s tough, but doesn’t require too much tension (ie you can sink into) I love doing this at home in the evening when I’m chilling. Again, so glad to hear about the progress
This routine feels great. Do you think it's ok to do it daily if your keeping it gentle? I just subscribed to your page, if you ever do a video dedicated to loosening tight hamstrings I'd be very excited to see that! Thanks
Christopher Villanella thanks man! I’d say daily is OK if you push it just the edge of your comfort zone, ie done force the stretches. I’ll let you know on the hamstrings
Just came across this video and I can tell it's going to help a lot. Couple questions regarding the seated knee rotations: how far out are your feet from your body and how much separation is there between your feet?
Thanks Miguel. I really appreciate you letting me know, be sure to spread the word if it helps :) That's a great question. I would suggest your feet being shoulder width apart and with regards to distance of the feet away from the body, set it up so your shins form a 90 degree angle to the floor when they are pointing skyward. Does that make sense?
@@pickofdestiny94 another great question. Yes, if you're too low down (i.e. back close to the floor) it will open up the hips and make the exercise easier. Having the body between 45 and 90 degrees, based on what feels comfortable, is best
When I do the second exercise my leg cannot stay at the 90 degree angle for some reason. My foot naturally bends back in towards me and if I try to force it to stay 90 degrees my knee will explode. It’s weird I know not sure why
For sure don’t force it. It might be worth spending some time dedicated to just this stretch. You can do the same stretch and put a pillow under the lead knee, which takes the pressure off. You can also place the lead knee on a bed. Then slowly work up to doing it on the floor. Does that make sense?

I only tried this for a few days but i feel already more flexible. i'm really unflexible but i love that frog sit. It's hard but i need it :).

Awesome! Glad it helps Zach
Really great! Isnt the glute stretch dangerous for the LCL?
Perfect! Can't wait to try it these

One question, In the frog squats I can't get my heels to the floor, what do I do?
Awesome!! I still do several of these stretches almost every day. It also helps if you foam roll the tissues too, particularly the psoas
i hope this can help, my hips hurt when i do moves in the guard

Nunya Business you can also google “seated twist stretch” and add that in to help mobilise the glutes. That should help too
