Si not sure if you've ever tried them but in the past I have used nail polishing blocks for cleaning ferruls on snooker cues and they work superbly, they have 4 different stages from course to fine and when finished it leaves a polished surface maybe worth a try plus they are cheap as chips
I use something called barkeeps friend. It will remove the dirt, years of grime, and any rust you can throw at it. The stuff is miraculous. But be warned it will take some finishes off too. Vokeys oil can finish for example. But now it's a raw wedge and super rusty after about a year.
On painted heads the problem is the scratches remove the varnish/lacquer finish.
I have in the past used t cut or car scratch repair kits.
I once took my driver 3+5 woods to a car paint shop and the guys thought it was funny.
They repainted my 3 clubs for £20 (they were black clubs it was black or white or any colour they had left over from a repair)
I had to tape up my club myself but they put them in the oven to dry with a car they were doing....they looked brand new.
So there are ways to fix them up 👍
Autosol. Jut saved you £8. Thank me later 😂
Thanks for watching guys! Please leave any suggestions or tricks you have to refurb your clubs to help the community out. 🙌
Have you used Mr. Clean magic eraser 2x it will remove anything. Get a bench grinder with a cloth polishing wheel on either side. Use 2 stages of polishing stick on the cloth and then polish your clubs. Will take out anything minus pitting and paint chips.
Probably cost you 150 dollars tops and will last year's.
7 vids in 7 days I think there’s a glitch in the matrix 🤯😂😂 love the grind Simon 🙌🏻
Elbow grease paste from Poundland or similar will do the same,if you buy yourself a polishing kit from the polishing shop even better, just need a bench grinder!
I actually really enjoy polishing up old clubs with metal polish and/or steel wool. Those matte faces on the newer clubs are a pain though, I think you might need a sand blaster for those.
Hahaha, that is the most absurd click bait thumbnail yet. Great work mate, had a good chuckle
Have you ever tried Autosol Simon? Never used it on clubs but works a treat on everything I've used it on
Simon
Car polish works on most painted hybrid heads or older metal woods. It simply strips the top layer of paint and reveals a new shiny layer.
Any metal polish - much cheaper than £12 will clean iron heads.
Best trick for iron heads or putters (non groove faces) is super fine sandpaper although I think I got this tip from you?
Use bumper polish on any black bits on your diver, fairway wood etc comes up a treat
I'm lucky enough to have a woodwork shop but it's now 250 miles away .. I refurb anything I buy.. If you have a workmate folding bench or one of those mini vices you clamp on a table top for a tenner any drill than has a slow or variable speed and a polishing kit that you can get for about 15 quid with mini buffing wheels and some good quality wet and dry paper you can do it almost as good as the pro's. Brad Meehan's channel is your Bible for this. Do not mess around too much with driver faces and chrome forged!
I lightly rubbed a nail file on my old G400's and it made a big difference
I began "refurbishing" clubs about a year before lockdown and genuinely believe the more you polish up a head... the more you highlight imperfections.
Just my thoughts.
I like it, especially for those driving range mat scuffs, as I find those really annoying as I'm looking at them when I pull the clubs out the bag.
I like autosol from halfords. Works well
It's just a mild, abrasive, cutting compound like G6.. You can get compounds with finer grade abrasives to use as finishers. Should work a treat!
I use T-cut seems to work well on shafts as well as club heads
;
Peak…..Has Amazing results and found in many food shops.
Do they have the Mr. Clean magic eraser in the UK? Or is that what you mean by magic sponge? They work really well on those tough-to-get-out marks like that ball mark on the iron. As well as tee marks on the bottom of woods that my old toothbrush and soap don't seem to quite get rid of.
For tee marks on the bottom of clubs you can just spit in the grass and then rub the club in the grass. Or grab a bunch of grass and spit right on the club and rub the bunch of grass on it. The enzymes in your saliva and the enzymes in the grass, along with the friction of the grass do the trick.
Good on you for coming up with a video I’ve never seen anyone do before but every golfer can relate to. Curse those toe marks!
Brasso metal polish, obviously soap and water brush to clean and soft cloth to use with the brasso, job done,
Magic eraser is by far the best specially for tee marks on the driver or ball imprints get one wet try on your clubs you will be kind blow it’s no harsh chemicals and no way it can scratch the clubs. MAGIC ERASER FOR THE WIN!
I use The Pink Stuff Paste, cheap as chips.
I was just thinking whether this would work
I went to decathlon the other day and there's been a hybrid in there for a few months. it has scratches on it, and a gash hence why it hasn't sold. it's £80. I asked if they could knock some money off. they said £67 is their lowest. I just said no, I may as well buy a new one. I would of had it for £50 to be fair. I'm a bit gutted. they'll not sell it until it's half price atleast.
Bought something called barkeepers Friend a while back amazing stuff also
Great video! Is there anything out there that can get rid of light scratches?
You can clean up pitted shafts with wd40 and very fine wire wool. If the chrome is totally gone it won’t help that though
Pink stuff mixed with bicarbonate and liquid elbow grease. Try it ps I work in golf.
Drill
Foam pad attachment
Mother’s polish
❤
I use Flitz Polish. It can be found on Amazon.
T Cut, £7 at ASDA, it’s been polishing up metal cars for years pal!!!
Prior to that as a finishing shine, elbow grease as I am sure you are well aware of.
$17.99 (USA Amazon) same small tube Simon used in his video
A decent car paint compound followed with car paint polish will do even better. It will definitely remove the ball mark from your iron.
Restore ferrules with acetone by lightly rubbing them . Very lightly, press on and it will melt the ferrule. Nail polish remover is basically acetone but commercial Grade is better
Barkeepers friend costs about £3 will clean them better, especially good on copper putters/irons
Autosol metal polish off amazon does a similar thing and costs about £5.
Simon, does T-Cut work well?
Did a video on that in the past and would say definitely similar and better for more shiny driver heads, would say this is slightly more abrasive but only slightly. 👍
Yes, I’ve watch that video couple times…bar keepers friend wks great on brass
Much luv
Automotive cutting polish would probably work just as well.
Soak heads overnight in white vinegar and lightly rub with very fine wire wool will remove rust easily
2000 grit wet paper before polish??
Just use the rubbing compound you already have for your car. Same results.
3M Rubbing Compound
@@guyhall6592 that'll work.
Autosol metal polish is good
Brasso is the way forward
It’s just brasso or silvo but costs more, and I bet it doesn’t smell as nice. T cut for you car works well on heads too.
Try toothpaste for whitening and distilled white vinegar
Autosol chrome polish does the same and a bit cheaper .
T cut or brasso rubbing with cardboard, army trick
Cape Cod oil. Will get any metal scratch out.
Any good metal polish will probably work just as well at a third of the price.
Car body t cut much better
its a can of polishing compound. It would be less than half the cost if it didn't say Golf on it.
That product seems to scratch the chrome a little🤔
I believe that might of been my fault on the third attempt a bit of grit from the tree above got on the cloth. Only noticed it on the cloth after I had finished.
NeverMind. Should have watched all the way through.
this is basically cutting compound / autosol in a pot and then doubled in price. save your pennies and get a car mental polish.
Toothpaste will do the same thing
Lol who polishes clubs?
Haha if anyone did, I imagine a golf addict would 😉
@@SASGolf I like the battle scars on my clubs lol. Love the joke lol
