Within seconds of hearing the opening music I knew that I had to like this, whether the story/acting/cinematography were good or not... and they were all good, great even. I especially liked the "life flashing before the eyes" montage of the prospector's journey from civilization to the wilds. The music and its timing are so very good, my favorite parts to an overall very enjoyable and well done film.
How many hoards are buried out there when this story goes the opposite way! Awesome short video! I appreciate your perspective and would love to see more.
I enjoyed this film. No useless dialog. Pretty good cinematography. It developed enough character background that I wanted to know or see more. You are on the right track. I wish you much success in your future endeavors.
Absolutely great short film. Great soundtrack and I was completely invested in the two characters, especially the prospector of course. And some fabulous scenic shots as well. Definitely one of the best shorts I've seen.
Great movie !!! love the story, the characters, the scenes ! and I love the ending : the boots removed...barefoot...love that ! and big boot size surely ! thx for that
Excellent, excellent, excellent!!! Everything is perfect. If you can't tell your story without dialog, you don't have much of a story. And this short definitely has a great story.
Jonathan did you make this... I really like these short films a new genre of film making. I like the image framing and the under stated acting, very cool minimal use of each cut and moment ... I agree with the previous comment, it started with a tasty music moment / Im going to watch tomorrow your film Bounty Hunted. Thanks again
@@GreatWaterCircus Yes, I love making these shorts! We really enjoy exploring ideas and filmmaking in the western genre. I’m so glad you took the time to watch. I’d love to hear what you think of Bounty Hunted!
@@BlaisUnlimited Giday Mate... I decided I'd better watch it. Ha ha I liked it, the same styles... I have to mention I do like my western characters to be not so clean shaven and a bit messy. OK I might/ most likely I am wrong about personal hygiene back in the day, as there was a lot of pride back then in dress and style. At first I though they were too young, but then as the film rolled I liked them as the Sherif turned to be a real bastard and the bounty hunter was young and out of his league, so very good character development.... yhea I liked the characters. The Sound of the film was 100 percent, impressive gun shot blasts and the pace of the action drove the film along between real life action with a hint of Hollywood ( They got shot and could still run, but I was there and so it worked really well, good balance), again that minimal but very effective use of dialogue and characters drew me in until we got to the end ... very cool hat trick and that gave the end a twist, I though the bounty hunter was going to appear after they both shot each other, as the badge might have saved him... but that seems too Hollywood. I liked your ending. Very cool film Thank you.
If you're reading the comments first to see if this film is worth watching, don't miss it, it's honestly perfection! Many thanks for your hard work creating this, it's brilliant, all of it, acting, music, scenery and to tell a story, including a back story, in eleven minutes has got to be worth an Oscar. Really enjoyed it and now going to find some more of your creations.
Enjoyable , worth watching. The opening scene, descending, was nicely done. The weathered trestle , or bridge, in 1889 in Colorado? Looked more like Appalachia. Curious about that.
Yup, putting this in my list of loves for short films. My 3rd great grandfather was one of the first to go traipsing through Canada on the way to Alaska for the Gold Rush. He died on the way there and left behind his wife and son. His son then later joined the Union and Confederate Armies. ((He fought for the Confederates first and then moved and fought for the Union after his mama died. Watching his life through a paper trail was really interesting.))
Wow, that sounds like a story worth telling, maybe making a film about! Very interesting that he fought for both sides. History can be so fascinating, thank you again for sharing your thoughts and for watching our film!
Great cinematography*really like sound*, the sounding like a critic... Landscape location"""1889 Colorado... I'm not from the states I'm an Australian... And we have a great short story... Homespun non-government funded film industry... You could easily swear this rainforest... Was around the back of Cairns Queensland or other parts of east coast Australia....,... Yeah like storyline again I'm not trying to critique it.... I think there's been enough comments there...🤬thank u.nick.
Just started watching short films and stumbled upon on this gem. It's super early on a Tuesday's winter morning in Ontario and this find was 'icing' (see what I did there) on the cake ;). Well done! Bravo!! >insert loud whistling
Came back to watch this a year later, having forgetten the ending. It got me again! Great finale. What a lot of story in eleven minutes, neatly expressed. Really nicely put together, clever soundtrack. Felt more authentic than many high budget movies, keep it up people.
Enjoyed watching this! Personally thought the storyline was nicely and economically conveyed. Especially appreciated the series of shots of his journey-- you clearly illustrated his gradual transformation from tidy/clean/not-very-well-equipped city youngster, to the seasoned, dirtier, better-supplied, more experienced man he became across the course of his travels. Applause :)
Wouldn'a left the body there. Attract attention to the stash area. Do big chunks of gold appear like that? Thought it was more of a sand. Good lil film
You guys did a really good job with something during those first 5 minutes, because on hindsight it sounds like a boring scene, but every time I saw him find a little piece of gold I found myself rooting for this character even more.
Nice, thanks for watching! I get that a lot about the stars on that flag so I don’t blame you! It definitely looks like a modern flag at a glance for some reason. Thanks for the comment Ted!
