There’s a certain way the 808s and kicks n snares sound in professional trap beats that for the life of me I can’t figure out .
i feel u, u get shit in key, eq level have good sounds and somehow they still sound out of place.
It's the meticulous work that the mixing engineers do. Most industry producers aren't great at mixing, and they don't take their time in doing so either. Professional mixing engineers take hours to surgically work on each individual sound.
Its not hard bro, people just mix each drum usually and add stuff + they have good trap sounds from before
Use the correct sounds and that’s it
It really comes down to doing the work and putting enough hours in. Learn how to sound design, not in order to always design from scratch, but more to develop a deeper perspective on the sound

What’s the rules for eq on a sample ? Like if you have a sample that’s missing a lot of low end freq. should you just leave it or try and boost the lows ? Or do people not care about it as long as the drums are hitting ?

you could try to boost the lows and add a kick. I'd recommend adding a bass or an 808 tho if possible.
