Very accurate description of the coil vs gas engine stall. I would add that while the sediment bowl intake is the first place to look for fuel restrictions I have worked on several older tractors where the steel line from the sediment bowl to the carb had severe buildups of gas goo, some had enough flow to get gas to the carb but not enough to run much above low idle, some won't start. The first one I had 40 yrs ago about ran me crazy.
First time every time, she fired right up. Man, that tractor sounds good. No bucking no back-fire, no smoking, just smooth and easy. Enjoyed a full-watch, Farmall F. 👍🏽🙂
I don’t know if you realize that every time you push the clutch pedal down, the TA shifts to low. Every time you release the clutch pedal, the TA shifts to direct, on a properly adjusted clutch-TA linkage. On the farms SMTA I went though everything, including the TA with an IT manual. Later I did my own alternator conversion with a Delco 10SI with using the factory wiring harness. One thing that I found out digging in the Delco books, is that a SMTA LP and a 400 LP ran a 12 volt starter with a Ford style starter solenoid. That way you do not need the starter rod, or you can modify your starter to accept the mechanical starter switch. Hello from north east Montana.
My father told me to go put fuel in our 544 Farmall gas tractor. I was only 11 years old. I was told fuel not gas. I made it a half mile down our road before it quit running. When I walked home and told dad. My mom and brother defended me that dad told me to fuel it. Never made that mistake again. 🚜
I usually blow back through the fuel line from the carb with the air hose turned down. Seldom is there anything coming out when I take it off. Works good. Same method as yours for the valve. Then I take a 6' or 7' length of clear 1/2" ID tubing, stick it in the tank with the air nozzle, seal it as best I can with my hands (it takes a bit of fumbling & practice to get it right) & send some air in until gas runs out the hose into a screened funnel over a gas can. Then I let the suction work it's magic & vacuum the crud out of the tank. Works like an aquarium vacuum. If there's any pieces that won't go up the hose, it's time for the retractable claw grabber thing. Works great!
Good day Back in 60's going to school learning about tractors, we had a farm rolling hills, thought ta would be great. Our neighbor had MF 165, got rid of it becanse mult-power was going. A gear trans. will last a long long time, ta, or any of them drop trans. will wear out . I could see using ta on every round going up hill. They are nice until you have to get them fix. Boy 756 sounds good. Baby chicks are learning , Thanks
That all depends on what style of hydraulic TA you have. The base TA free wheels going down hill. There is an optional TA sold a lot in corn country that provides engine braking in TA. The factory mechanical TA never provided engine braking in TA. There might be a mechanical TA from M&W that provides engine braking. An old and gone IHC mechanic told me that. I might have the wrong company name. He started working at the IHC dealerships just as the 06 series was coming out 1962 maybe?
As far as the fuel problem goes, steel lines rust internally. If you disconnect fuel line at carb, and catch the fuel as it flows out, you should have a steady full stream of fuel. Now to ck a TA in high, lock both brake pedals together, make sure you have brakes, then go down a incline in DD..If tractor starts gaining speed, then direct drive clutch slipping.
Wished my J.Deere had this option. Seems like I'm always a little short on power. Thats an awesome feature. IH had it all figured out, back in the day. I live in W.V. the mountain state. Man that'd be sweet to be able to have a half gear to shift down to on the fly.
I’ve seen the option on a 2750 I think, I could be wrong on the model, it’s been a while. It was under the left side of the steering wheel and looked like a shuttle lever. Rabbit and tortoise. I’m a mechanic and seen it in the shop.
Thank you Thomas Bowen. My J.D.3025 is a hydrostat. With only two ranges. I much prefer a geared transmission. This was my first automatic, its a good tractor i just don't like the whining noise from the transmission. Drives me crazy. LoL
I was in army also. But i enjoy your channel, wishvyou did more videos. The one thing i like about your channel is you don't come acroos as a know it all. Thank you for your channel
Every Deere guy watching this video was gritting their teeth and foaming at the mouth waiting for that t/a to slip. They last a long time if you treat them right. Keep it in direct unless you need it. Good deal!
So funny, our neighbor was an IH guy and he proudly stated at coffee shop years ago he fixed his T/A in fours hours! As a John Deere guy I stated “so you’ve had that much practice?”
Massey Ferguson had it's version of torgue amplifier called Multi Power Don't be going downhill in MP.......zero braking. Knowing that it had a death trap on it's hands they got rid of it after a few years.
I have had a few fuel issues on my tractor, and I had to blow in the tank. What I had was a Japanese beatle (lady bug) in there and it got sucked into the opening what a pain inn the butt to find. Those damm things here get into everything
Ok my son bought a ta tractor no handle.no shaft justa hole.he wants to sell me the 706.i wish someone can tell me what is supposed to be there. Is the handle attached to a hydraulic valve like the steering.or is it a mechanical linkage
I have a question I have a 69 656 has torque amplifier everything has worked great for years today I fired her up and when I went to put in reverse she wanted to take off . I tried twice but nothing any ideas did my clutch randomly dump everything appears intact still
Thank you for these videos. I’m looking at a 756 for our farmstead. Would it be possible to do a tour/tutorial of all the controls? I grew up on an Allis D17 and haven’t run an IH.
@Farmall Fanatic Say I’m looking at buying a farmall super m with a loader. Just wondering if u know what I should look for? Gonna hopefully use it to move round bales eventually. Please let me know cause I don’t have a lot of experience with them. Thank you. And keep up the good videos
I don't know much about about them that's why am here lol 😂 Farmall International now I know a bit about the Derv one's. Get her fiered up she is a petrol corse it will start boom. Now if it was an MTZ it might not lol. She's got a spliter to. Enough to cut some grass Farmall let's go let's grow lol 😂 It's got a whine least it's not drinking Wine lol. Chooks chooks looking good Farmall 👍👍
Those john deere guys are prolly jealous of your great working farmall 756. And they mad that their JD don't run. Cause JD tractors are junk. I really like farmall. Ford. And Alis chamlers. Those are the 3 main types of tractors that I like. The hell with a JD.
Yoi know how to sex them I guess. Real young.. The pelvic bone is two pieced for laying eggs. The roosters are one piece. One bump on rooster 2 little bumps in hens easy to feel gently touching the point .. That works on all birds. Even before they get adult feathers. My great aunt used to make capons for eating. If you have a vet.?get him to show you how to "fix" the roosters. They will be just as good to eat as a female. Do them young. If you like old hen and dumpling a Capon will be lots bigger and just as good. Even fryed is good. Takes 3 seconds with a single edge Razer blade and tweezers. I was officiall chicken catcher. For her.
You'd better have subscribed to my channel. You forgot about not using that crappy ethanol fuel. The stuff collects water like no tomorrow. Love your content your a madman...hey my massey is red
JD’s are green to blend in with the grass when they break down. Not a very proud color.IH’s are red so you can see them .Running proud and standing out,not hiding in the background .

I have always left the TA up in direct drive. Been afraid to use it and then break it, lol. Cool chicks.
Always good to see the T/A working!! Happy chicks :)
Very rare

Love your old tractors my friend. Take care and have a blessed week.
Thank you 👍

The problem is a lot of guys breakdown out in the field
We run the chopper on the 2+2 in the fall. That TA gets a work out when yields are good!!!!!
Oh im sure 👍
Good advice on the fuel tank issue there. Yep, a good working TA on the Farmall is a good thing. Stay safe.

Good that you got that TA to work... Double the speeds...
Chicks are so cute. They are like little puff balls.
And remember don’t pull that TA back going down hill
That all depends on what style of hydraulic TA you have.

great idea for a video and nice you added the chicks as well

Crops are green
If you ever want to make Deere guy mad, just tell them that John Deere copied the TA.
They basically did
So funny, our neighbor was an IH guy and he proudly stated at coffee shop years ago he fixed his T/A in fours hours! As a John Deere guy I stated “so you’ve had that much practice?”
u can test ur TA just pushing in ur brakes as well. my TA is in low been that way 4 a week, but thats becuz its in standby mode..
Massey Ferguson had it's version of torgue amplifier called Multi Power Don't be going downhill in MP.......zero braking. Knowing that it had a death trap on it's hands they got rid of it after a few years.
I broke a speed record because if MP, and also that the brakes were bad, all at the same time.
Lol
The IH Hydro tractors also have a distinctive whine...

That's cool the TA is still good !
Had a similar but it top heavy like you was light loaded in the hammer lanes 😭

Without being there I can't really tell you, but it does sound like your clutch went
I had to add a clear inline fuel filter for my 9N.
Thank you for these videos. I’m looking at a 756 for our farmstead. Would it be possible to do a tour/tutorial of all the controls? I grew up on an Allis D17 and haven’t run an IH.
Find a good D17,
Sure thing
john smith , my head is on a swivel for one however the 756 has more HP for a PTO chipper so it has my attention and the price is fair.
756 is a great tractor

I like a wide front with heavy front tires...power steering is nice too
Farmall Fanatic thank u
Does the 400’s at work ?
What if my TA lever is hard to pull or push forward?
Then your linkage needs unfrozen and worked
@@FarmallFanatic how do I do that? I tried greasing the zerk but did not get better. It’s also harder to shift gears when torque is off. (Forward)
@@sethhohlen8057 Sounds like it might be a tear down

What does the ta do in the transmission
Drops you down 1/2 a gear
pretty cool watching the chicks

The best shade of green on a tractor is the “off” color.
Thankyou!
Can't wait to see the TA used in anger🙄 Red Power times 2 Boom 💪👍
Until the ta claps out
Looks like Mama is successful in teaching her chicks how to eat!!
Ethanol gas will gum up a sediment bowl
Definitely
nice one
