The iconic John Sparkes (Barry Welsh) is the host of this best-of, feature-length compilation episode of Barry Welsh Is Coming.
The DVD is no longer in production, so I don't think John Sparkes would mind. Nor would Mr Kenny Twat, Mr Clinically Dead, Geraint Pillock, Detective Chief Inspector Shortarse, Mrs Hideous or even Mr Ffff.

Sublime comedy. I have it on DVD and occasionally show it to others...I don't let them watch it, I just show it to them.
This is amazing. 3 decades have not dulled this comedic tour de force. Sparkes is my hero

My Welsh (now ex) Missus used to widdle herself laughing at this when we were posted to 14 Signal Regiment between St David's and Haverfordwest, largely because it was one of the few television programmes we could get. Four years there made reality stranger than fiction, and I can now safely laugh without getting funny looks from people who have "never been to England or used a public toilet".
I have this on video and have introduced my friends from over the border to this. They wished it had been on in England. But the best comedy is reserved for Wales.
Sparks is a genious. Like Graham Fellows. Underated
I saw his Barry Welsh live show in Bangor when he was at his height in 1997 - I've never laughed so much in my life. I'm amazed it's 20 years ago. And thanks for uploading!!
I was in the ordnance when they were filming this in Cardiff .He was fantastic . Bring him back please !

Reminds me very much of Spike Milligan's type of humour.
I had no idea Sparkes was from Wales. I thought he was a Scot who was capable of a very good Welsh accent. The fella is funny as fuck.
He was born in Swansea, and now lives in Cardiff (the last time I checked) 😀
@@nathanpreece Not 100%, but I seem to remember he lived in or around Reading about 20 years ago? Or was he using Reading as a base for work back then, I forget? Yes, he was born in Swansea. Little known fact - he was raised from a toddler in the 2 storey flat positioned directly over Dick Barton's chip shop (if it's still called that) at the bottom of West Cross, Swansea. I've been employed as CP Security for him in the past - my favourite client! It probably helped that I was a fan! ;-) I've still got a hand-signed original of this DVD as well, which he signed in front of me. A top man, funny guy and generous, too.
I've seen three brilliant Welsh comics come and go on TV -- Ryan and Caryl Parry-Jones, and John Sparkes whose Barry Welsh largely spoofed Wales but the characters are universally funny with clever use of archive film.
Barry Welsh can stand alongside other contemporary stuff, Enfield, the Fast Show etc.
Pity it wasn't shown UK-wide.

Thanks for this, i've spent most of the day trying to record this on a capture card, but it has a anti-piracy lock on it, so now i don't have to bother. Now, i just have 1 Python video to copy, & i'll be totally VHS-free.

Money. Regular income being a children's cartoon narrator whereas producing niche comedy (albeit outstanding comedy of course) not bringing in the dough it should have.

Never heard of this before yesterday, and I can't believe the Welsh could accept it.
I guess that's becsuse you have been brain washed by the English to view us in a certain way. Its quite a provincial Welsh humour that is nuanced towards regions and accents in Wales.
