    Caraway seeds are very common in Northern and Eastern Europe. You’ll find them in rye bread and on crisps as well as in a lot of German savoury dishes.

    That’s one of the things I loved when I visited Ireland, how sustainable they are, you can get anything there locally and fresh!

    So, I had no idea you called them 'flapjacks'. In US an oat cake (crispy or chewy) is generally a 'granola bar' and a flapjack is another word for a pancake.

    Caraway seed is commonly used in rye bread and it is popular in the Scandinavian countries as welll. Germany makes a sauerkraut with them in for flavor.

    Irish teas use a different blend of leaves than British brands. There was a during WW2, there was a small trade war between the UK and Ireland, so the Irish government ended up setting up a company to act as a middleman for tea importation by sourcing it from places from beyond British control, namely East Africa. This is why Irish teas have a very different flavour profile than British teas, which as mostly sourced from South Asia.
    Not Lyons anymore though: that's been basically rebranded PG Tips for a while now, and it's been grim ever since.

    Hi guys great video again 🙂 you can buy the Kimberleys and the mint and golden crisp here in Tesco. Expensive for v little bars but so worth it. We used to get them as part of our main range here many years ago but they were sadly discontinued. When Cadburys here did a mint version here at Xmas it was really rubbish and nothung like the original one sadly. The Irish one is amazing. Wish we could get it more easily....and bigger! Haha

    The vanilla pecan cup looked delicious. I think I could eat more than one of those but I suppose they are really rich in flavor. I cook with Kelly Gold butter but it is expensive since it is imported which blows my mind that something comes all the way from Ireland to North Carolina and has to be refrigerated. Good video and good box.

    I think firms like Bulmers, Cadburys and Jacobs in the bad old days of British occupation were the same company in both Britain and Ireland, but the companies went the separate ways like Bulmers/Magners, Jacobs/Bolands plus Cadburys having certain products unique to each country.

    • @marywalsh9351
      @marywalsh9351 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Bulmers is branded Magners when exported .. made in Clonmel, Co. TIPPERARY

    • @talideon
      @talideon 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Bulmers in Ireland isn't the same company as Bulmers in the UK. The founder of Irish Bulmers worked for UK Bulmers and got the rights to use the name. Irish Cadburys started as the Irish branch of the UK company, but largely acted independently, and sourced everything except for the cocoa (and originally sugar) locally. People actually specifically try to get their hands on Irish Cadburys products because they've a better reputation. Jacobs is an Irish company originally. The UK Jacobs started as a subsidiary of the Irish company.
      Bulmers was founded in Ireland after independence in 1935. Jacobs was founded in Waterford in 1885.

    In Ireland we have 3 different accents for the irish language and we do have several different accents like in the uk. You have southern cork kerry midlands dublin and northern and western. Funny i think you did a mix of two accents maybe a Midlands dublin ? Jacobs crackers were massive and they did biscuits as well.
    Also lyons and Barry js a lsst name in Ireland. Tetley is here but i I think ots weak. Barrys and lyons are so much prefered. You can get 120 packs. Cadbury is not produces here anymore and alot felt the chocolate we get now tastes different. In the 90s you could get blackcurrant in your Guinness.

    • @ThisWithThem

      But there's a good reason for that: there's a UK Jacobs that started as a subsidiary of the Irish Jacobs, but it was spun off as its own company. They have the rights to the Jacobs trademark in the UK, hence the need to use Boland's.
