  • Today we finally mowed our second cutting hay. With all the wet rainy weather we have been having our fields were finally dry enough to mow our second cutting. Now we just have to hope the weather hold out and stays dry long enough for us to get it baled!
    Sorry for a few blurry clips in the video we were having issues with our camera focusing.

    So glad you were finally able to put some hay down!! I still cant believe all the rain you all got. That was us in 2018! That field looks thick!! Awesome drone shots!

      Im glad too, even though it got washed the other day, not too bad though it will still make a bale lol! Thanks for watching Sam!

    Nice explanation of the mower. It’s a boot spider, attaches itself to the sole with high pressure.

      Never seen one before, must not be common up here! Thanks for watching !

    Nicely done and very interesting. Those small blades make sense since you want it just lay the hay down rather than mulch it up.

      To be honest the first time i used this mower i wasnt lifting it when going over cut areas and all the hay just cut so fine it disappeared in those spots lol. Thanks for stopping by Ed, Its great to have you here.

    Can’t believe how fast you were going, it even looked like it wasn’t cutting until you picked up the hay. Nice drone shots 👍🏻. Have a great weekend 🙋🏼‍♂️🙂👍🏻

      Thats because of how thick it was! it got cut and barely even fell over lol. It was ready to be mowed first week of July but the weather has been horrible for a haymaker! Thanks for watching Luc

    I just bought a new Vermeer M6050 3 pt disc mower. Their new quick hitch design is awesome and allows you to hookup as fast and easy as a traded mower or caddy.

      The vermeer mowers are nice for sure, I scored this kubota mower for 6500 with about 10 hours on it then got the caddy for 2500 brand new left over on the lot! Ben Kennedy at K&H tractors on youtube has the vermeer mounted mower it is a really nice design in my opinion

    That hay will be hard to get dried down it’s so thick and matted. Looked like you mowed around 10 mph. My ideal speed for here would be 6.5 mph but with the 8 speed I can’t achieve that and run 540 rpm. Sometimes I’ll use 2nd high and idle down but then I can’t pull the hills without dropping a gear. So in most cases I just use first high 5.3 mph and it will pull even the steep places in that gear. Hope you can get it baled in good shape!

      @HillsideAcres  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually when I got home from work wendsday it would have been ready to bale… would have been some really nice stuff if it didn’t get the wash yesterday lol. I think it will turn out fine drying back out today and balding Saturday and Sunday

      I think it was bigger in person lol But the big ones are probably less dangerous than the small ones! Thanks for watching Stephen!

    Good point about the rope Richie. You don’t have to pull a truck out of a ditch with it. Loved the drone footage Maybe that was taken from a fighter jet at the speed you were mowing

    • @HillsideAcres
      @HillsideAcres  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The drone has some good speed to it for sure! Definitely dont need a heavy rope for the safety latch. I could think of a number of places it could end up that would cause headache. Thanks for stopping by Gary it is always a pleasure having you on the channel!

    Good work. Is there a video about the injector issue? Did the old injectors go bad? Just curious. That is some tall thick hey.

    • @HillsideAcres
      @HillsideAcres  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good morning Bob, There was a service bulletin for the injectors that some models would be effected and they would need to be tested. If one fails all 4 get replaced under emissions warranty. Thanks for watching Bob!
