    It´s such a relief to finally hear experts who understands the importance of teammates running and moving around him to utilize his complete skillset because Zlatan is more than a striker, he´s a playmaker and target man. His vision and passes are just if not more dangerous than his shooting. Zlatan is not who he was 10 years ago where he could run and dribble 1-2-3 players every game. He´s gotten older, slower, heavier... Expecting him to run for 90+ minutes is absolute madness.
    Doesn´t mean he doesn´t run, but to have stamina to be dangerous for 90+ minutes he needs to pick his opportunities to run deep/behind well. He´s a conservative player in that sense with focus on efficiency. And look where Zlatan keeps on doing! It works great for him. He proves that pace is not a necessity. That´s why I believe Messi and Ronaldo won´t be as good compare to their highest standard when they´re 36+ because they rely much more heavily on pace.

    • @benjaminbronnimann3966
      @benjaminbronnimann3966 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hilariumosis Messi is a playmaker who often plays as an offensive midfielder, where he doesn't rely on pace at all. Most of his goals don't result off a sprint. Out of all the 32 teams There was no player in the champions league that ran less than Messi this UCL (average distance per game). Messi had games with Argentina where he ran less than both goalkeepers and still scored. And Ronaldo is way slower than he was 5 years ago but scores just as many if not even more goals. He uses his energy very efficiently for the game decisive moments. He turned from a classic winger that cuts inside into a poacher, deadlier than anyone else in the box because he knew he can't forevr run down the wing for 90 minutes. He completepy changed his playstyle to adapt to the physical disadvantages that come with age. He barely dribbles compared to 2012 when he was dribbling opponents every game. Now he puts all his focus into playing efficiently. and also he's only 3-4 years younger than ibra (33). I have 0 doubts that they will be just at that level if not on a higher one. They both completely changed theire gamestyle and don't rely on pace anymore. I don't get what your point is...

    • @Hilariumosis
      @Hilariumosis 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      benjamin brönnimann The point is Messi and Ronaldo is still considered agile players. They still move way more today than Zlatan been doing the last 5+ years back. You have to go back to his time in Inter the last time Zlatan really was agile as part of his playstyle running and taking on defenders every game. His second year in Milan was when pace stopped being acssociated with him and he started coming down the pitch to get the ball and develop his playmaking.
      And I understand Messi and Ronaldo gradually going down the same path and conserving energy where age begins to take it's toll and invest it in other areas of their game instead that needs to improve to compensate or other reasons for not needing to do what they used to.
      Time will tell. But I still belive they won't manage to stay as close to their higest level as Zlatan does to his most of the times.

    I'm British and I only realised this a few years ago but Beckham wasn't as great a player as he was lauded as by Americans it was more the fact he was an Ambassador for the game which made him look a player who had the stature of being as good as Messi or Ronaldo Maradona etc. He was good everyone knows that but he wasn't great he was more of a brand for Americans to be introduced to the league. For me Giggs and Scholes were better than him by far from that class of 92 team hence why Ferguson never forced them out of United

    • @BourneIdentity45
      @BourneIdentity45 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know but the loans he had like A.C. Milan and PSG were both clubs that were places where he could have played based off of his credentials just like Gerrard when he left Liverpool he had offers from other European clubs but he chose the US for the pace of the game and mainly cause they speak English over there, look at PSG they didn't need him when he joined for the last year, Milan had players like Ronaldinho still there Beckham was past his prime when he went there also, Milan was also renowned to prolong players careers with their way of approaching things. He had his best years between Madrid and United. I'm not saying he isn't a good player I just think his stature overshadows his ability. And I know why he was forced out but I'd still pick Paul Scholes over Becks any day of the week. Beckham wasn't brought to have a mega impact for the MLS he was brought as a marketing ploy mainly he brought in millions of new fans all over America, they even changed the contract rules when Beckham went over.

      I understand where you're coming from but I still disagree, at the end of the day their careers are there us to look at and the stats back it up who the was more more valuable. Simply saying they played in different roles can't stop a comparison. Remember I never said Beckham was a bad player I just think his ambassadorial status off the field made him seem like a player bigger than what he actually was.

    American soccer fans need to realize that it will take time to compete with the best in the world, it won`t happen overnight. And it doesn`t happen in flashy ways like the signing of Zlatan or the goals he scores. It happens in slow incremental ways.

    THe MLS isnt close to the quality of a EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A or Ligue 1. However it is like the hundreds of other domestic leagues in the world. These leagues are filled with young players looking to attract the bigger leagues and older players who want to get away from the tip top leagues and the euro competitions (UCL, Europa).
    MLS right now is filled with central and south america prospects and some old timers that are finishing their career and i don't think there's anything wrong with that. Don't let your hate for America cloud your judgement when you really look at the MLS you see damn near every league outside the say top 10 in the world that all happen to be in Europe and south america.

    Yeah Steven Gerrard did have that attitude like he didn't want to be in MLS but imo Frank Lampard was the worst. Lampard carried that attitude throughout his whole NYCFC contract. First playing for Man City on loan his first season then getting injured and coming in later on at some point in the season. Then his second season was just as bad he "supposedly" gets injured during preseason and doesn't make his home welcoming return to his second season half way through it. In fact, his second season return appearance was so bad the fans in attendance had had enough of his shenanigans and boo the shit out of him when he came on the field at yankee stadium. I remember the look in his face was disappointment. He should've really been ashamed of himself and just stop his bs smug attitude and had a press conference to just retire instead of entering a second season with NYCFC.
    But yeah the guy on the show is right about Gerrard but both englishmen had that same attitude coming into MLS only difference was atleast Gerrard played when it mattered.

No, it is called that because of the way you play the game: you put the ball into the basket. That's why almost every sport has its name according to the way it is played. I didn't know american football got its name because of the measurement of the ball

    What Hislop said about Gerrard is complete BS. Zlatan is one of the best players of his generation, but so was Gerrard. I mean the man single-handedly dragged a below average Liverpool team to a Champions League trophy. He was also chosen as the 3rd best player in the world that year. Hislop always mugs Gerrard off, probably because he was annihilated by him on multiple occasions (i.e. 2006 FA Cup final). However, I have to admit that the MLS has become a 100 times more entertaining with Zlatan.

In his second however he failed at every turn even when he was fit and was made obselete by Lukaku - he fits well in a retirement league

    Lionel Messi, or Neymar Will be signed by MLS as part of their retirement package. Coming to the MLS real soon.
    The top MLS team is at best a division 2 or bottom EPL team facing demotion.
    At best MLS is a development leagues for b team players in European top teams to send over to get playing time. And transfer one they have time under their belt

    • @Akkarsollum
      @Akkarsollum 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joey Medina shit was so bad to watch that it got the point that no one cares. Bundesliga has reach that point that we know who is going to win. Dortmund, schalke, and RB Leipzig are the only ones that are putting out good games against each other. Bayern just plays the high pressure with cb playing as central defensive midfielders to press on their opponents. Dortmund has lost its future as being a competitive team now. Ever since, letting go of Hummels and gundongan. Then the train started with making huge profits and forgetting about making a super team. They let go of mhk, dembele, Ginter, and then Aubameyang. Bats has not settle down in terms of making a solidify plays, even though he is scoring. The defense is shit after release ginter and Bartra. Must importantly they let the heads get what they wanted and let god fucken tuchel. Shit was a huge mistake. My rant is over. What I am saying that Dortmund vs Bayern is not worth watching anymore.

    I don't fucking understand why one game changes everything. Zlatan, single handedly can't do shit. He may win titles with LA Galaxy, but MLS as a whole isn't gonna change. Like literally, players like Zlatan, Barco, and Dos Santos are only brought in to change the team. MLS is still gonna be a retirement league 10 years from now unless they change the youth development.

    Every Euro league has the same 3 teams winning every year... There is no competition for trophies in Europe. Unless you count UEFA, lol, and even that has the same 3 teams winning every time. MLS will be the best league in the world. I'm older than the MLS, every year the salary cap is raised. The league will be the most competitive where there is a chance almost every team wins and with time the salary cap will be raised enough to draw big name transfers team wide. Only a matter of time. USA does everything the best.

    • @JoseGonzalez-ln1me
      @JoseGonzalez-ln1me 6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @jose gonzalez Why you feel the need to insult me man? Sorry if you feel insecure but that isn't my fault. I like real madrid. I like the way they play. They have really good players. Los Galácticos know how to spend money, LOL! The team isn't the reason why there is so little competition. It's the rules of the leagues. You're very small minded to think that it's the teams... And if you don't think the same 3 teams winning every year in the Euro leagues is a problem for a game that values competition IDK what to tell you. But don't worry the USA is here to help. We invented the internet, computers, cars, and now we'll help you fix your leagues XDDDDDDDDDDD

    • @AlejandroLopez-cs6np

      The Prem which is the MOST competitive in Europe I agree has a grand total of 5 champions on the last like 10 years! With one of the 5 being a huge outlier! (Leicester)... To be fair EPL is the most competitive but it's the same 4 teams fighting for the trophy while the other 4 top teams (around 7 or 8 top teams in total) fight for 4th place. Don't get me wrong, I like Euro leagues just think MLS with time will be better.

      It depends, they who has the most money will eventually be the best league. MLS is not no.1 in spending money. The mls has grown much bigger over the last few years you can not deny that. But if you think its about the fans growing or the stadiums or better players. No no no. It all comes down to the money. The more the MLS moves up in profits and teams being able to spend more money on different and new players, the more the MLS will grow to being one of the better leagues in the world.

      EL Plagua That’s a matter of your opinion. But I do disagree to an extent. More specifically that fact that you don’t think it’s changing anytime soon. Because while I acknowledge the love of the game isn’t near Europe’s love, I do see the major improvements that have taken place in a very very short period of time. Combined with the decline of some other American sports. Of course you are probably just an English soccer fan boy that can’t stand to see any success in America.

      Flipper O3 Yeah is go along with that. I’m not saying it’s so non-competitive it’s stupid but it is quite weak. Most of the time when 3 teams get promoted to the Premier League from the Championship 2 of them will go straight back down. But yeah I think the Championship is a good comparison for the MLS

    • @jacob0393
      @jacob0393 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3
